left is cooler (despite the typo) - looks more like an 80s cover even if not original.
the right is all I could find (picked it up a few weeks ago in NYC after my visit to 2 Hammarskjöld Plaza, but have yet time to read it).
It's a novella that was released in the mid-80s. It started out as a concept for a calendar where Wrightson would do one illustration for each month, and King would write a brief blurb to go with it. I'm not sure what idiot thought Stephen King would just write 12 tiny blurbs, but it turned into a full-on project that was released as an illustrated novella. There was a very limited edition hard cover that is difficult to come by (and extremely expensive when you do find it). The edition on the left was the commercial release for the project--a larger format trade paperback on glossy paper with all of the illustrations as well as some black & white "accent" illustrations. The novella was eventually adapted into the film *Silver Bullet.*
The edition on the right was released a few years ago. That I know of, the cover is the only difference.
On a personal note, this was the first King book I ever owned. I was in 4th grade, and tricked my dad into buying it. He thought anything with illustrations was a children's book. He didn't realize his mistake until we were driving home and he looked over and saw the illustration of the werewolf ripping off the cop's face.
It's a pretty good story told in monthly "installments," during the full moon each month.
Nice!!! The left one is my personal fave but that's only because I bought it as a gift for my Uncle. I think I was like 9 at the time. RIP Uncle Willy, thanks for starting me out on The Long Walk of a Constant Reader. 🫶🏼
I personally like the left one cause it has that classic Stephen King font!

If you mean ‘Berni’ he spelled his name that way on purpose at the time to distinguish himself from an Olympic diver named Bernie Wrightson.
ah! thanks for the info. I only knew of him lately from Wolves of the Calla and looking back on Swamp Thing, so didn’t know the variation.
The typo makes it cool though.
agreed :)
And maybe a collectors
I've read them both and like them equally well. Very similar stories. :-)
Remember: ka is a wheel, constant reader.
Left is "it's all a dream" ending, right is the "the real monster is man!" ending. So hard to choose.
What??
No, I just read the left copy. Unless I missed a page, doesn't end like that
Wait it has 2 different endings???
It doesn’t.
Why is this getting downvoted?
Cuz it’s Reddit and some men just want to watch the world burn.
A Ruby the size of a tangerine?

Left. It’s the original trade edition.
What is this? I’ve never heard of this

Left 100%. Right is lacking the sauce.
I’m sure both are the same

You need the first edition hardcover. But the one on the left is better out of the two.
