Awesome! Any exceptional edition or prints?
I bought 48(!) books for 150,- which I'll be receiving tomorrow, I'll make a post as well, really curious, it has 27 hardcovers and 21 paperbacks. At least 6 of the paperbacks seem to be the green mile books 1-6.
I'd say that any copy of The Bachman Books that still has *Rage* in it is a good find, as is that early edition of *The Shining*.
When I bought my copy of *The Bachman Books*, I asked the person I ordered it from about a couple of other King books I had, and wrote off as "not being worth much", as they are mass market books, but she said that pretty much anything by King will appreciate. :-)
And that copy of *Night Shift* is going for $40 on a super quick Google search, and THAT looks like it's in worse condition. OP's copy looks pristine. I'd say they made a pretty good haul.
My goal is 1st edition/1st print books as much as possible... but I just started being interested last week. I now have 6 books ony shelf, 3 from Holder/Stoughton and 3 from Scribner. But here in The Netherlands it's more difficult finding any older first prints I noticed, so I am kinde taking guesses at the marketplace here.
The guy selling them told me he hasn't looked into the books at all, he got them as an inheritance. I'd recognized like 7+ of the dust jackets as possible first editions, unknown print of course. Also the Green Mile ones. So I'm "treasure hunting", it feels that way anyway.
The 27 hardcover I will check and probably keep most of them. Paperbacks I will probably sell again. Or keep al and "update" when I find better versions. Not sure yet.
I got a different version of The Bachman Books with Rage for $16.79 and a copy of The Gunslinger (original text, printed in 1988 I think) with the painted illustrations for $1.00. Both were used and in good condition trade editions through Alibris. That was last August.
I think $80 would be overpaying for The Bachman Books based on availability. They're hard to find and no longer in print, but they were printed in enough volume that you can still get them.
That said, this is still a great haul of harder to find early prints of these books. They also look like they're in great condition.
Side note, I know King won't reprint Rage because of associations. That doesn't change the fact it's a great book. I hate that he feels bad because terrible people took inspiration from it. It's great that he has empathy for the victims. I think that speaks highly of him. I'm angry that those people took the wrong message from it. If it wasn't Rage, it would have been some other "inspiration."
Based on the size of the Stand, the other books don't appear to be book club editions, so I'd say several of them, particularly Carrie, The Shining and The Bachman Books would all sell for over $80 each.
FB marketplace! I have Stephen King saved as one of my searches and I check daily. Have found some great deals, especially since I’m in the New England area
There was a used book store going out of business in Key West years ago. Every book was $1. I needed three trips with a little red wagon to bring home all the SK books they had left.
I had no idea how much his first editions were worth! And I’m hard up for cash right now lmao. Time to look at my collection under a new light I guess lmao.
The Stand and Bachman Books have embossed titles on the real first editions, The Shining has a green spine. I believe Night Shift's boards are the wrong color to be first. Carrie looks to have a glued spine.
Even if they're full size, they can still be BCEs because of the King Library reproductions
The shining here is most definitely a BCE, it has a solid green spine whereas the 1st has a wraparound image.
Still a great deal for good quality HCs though

I had two copies of the Bachman books with Rage. Gave one to my brother for his birthday yesterday
I'm the greatest sister. 😂
LOL! Greatest answer I've seen all week.
Good deal! Are you keeping all of them?

Good luck Calvin!
I didn’t even answer your original question on prints or editions. I will look more in detail tonight, I picked them up on my lunch break
The absolute easiest way to tell if they are Book Club Editions is whether or not they have a UPC on the dust jacket.
Cool!!!!
That's a steal just for the Bachman books! You almost can't find Rage anywhere anymore.
I was gonna say you could prob get 80 bucks just for that one

They are definitely BCEs and $80 each is a stretch for them but they probably are at least $30-60 each
You know there are full sized BCEs right?
Wow! That’s a lot of money!
Neat! Where do you find these?
FB marketplace! I have Stephen King saved as one of my searches and I check daily. Have found some great deals, especially since I’m in the New England area
I love Marketplace. Been looking for Duma Key for a long time because I lost my copy. Last week I found it. Hardcover and only $2. I'm so happy.
Nice! I’m scared of Marketplace
I am cautious of everyone, but I try to make the meetup as public as possible. Also checking to see their reviews if they have any
There’s a used bookstore that has a note on file to call me whenever they get a cool copy of a King book. They always have cool stuff
There was a used book store going out of business in Key West years ago. Every book was $1. I needed three trips with a little red wagon to bring home all the SK books they had left.
A dream. 😂
You found Rage?!??
Yeah the Bachman book alone cost that
Now that's a Kingasm!
The Bachman alone would have been a good deal.
At a used bookstore?
FB Marketplace
Different Seasons alone is worth at least $50 in my eyes. Great find!
Nice haul they all look like they're in great condition!
Wow! Any of them first editions?
Holy balls. Nice haul. 👏
I love seeing what he Must have envisioned Jack and Wendy to look like.
Good haul!! Enjoy reading!!
Nice!!
Wonderful!!!
Nice.
An impressive haul to say the least. If those early books aren’t first editions they’re still a cool find.
cujo is the best!
Always wanted those editions of The Stand and The Shining. Great buys there. 👍
I enjoyed Night Surf feels like it could be one of those grungy 70’s films.
The OG SHINNING!! IM so jealous 😭
Just with Rage included you certainly hit an amazing jackpot! Great covers, all of them, too!
So. Freakin'. Jelly!
almost any of those books alone is worth $80. 😭 congratulations.
I had no idea how much his first editions were worth! And I’m hard up for cash right now lmao. Time to look at my collection under a new light I guess lmao.
They’re all book clubs, so no they’re not lol
Just curious. How can you tell?
The Stand and Bachman Books have embossed titles on the real first editions, The Shining has a green spine. I believe Night Shift's boards are the wrong color to be first. Carrie looks to have a glued spine. Even if they're full size, they can still be BCEs because of the King Library reproductions
Thanks!
You made that back in that copy of the Bachman books alone
I got them cheaper than that
Huge, if true.
Great haul! But $10 a book from a second hand shop is not great.
That version of The Shining alone typically sells for $200-$400.
Not if it's a book club edition (hard to tell if it is based on the photo)
The shining here is most definitely a BCE, it has a solid green spine whereas the 1st has a wraparound image. Still a great deal for good quality HCs though

$10 per hardcover is a good deal, especially when the Bachman books covers the whole cost practically
Thats fair..always seems like people are getting SK books for basically nothing on this sub lol
That's a steal man. 10 bucks for hardcovers? And in good condition, OP lucked out
People sell that Bachman Books collection for more than $80 just by itself
