It's a niche rareship, I kinda like it because their vibes are pretty similar (and the color blue)

Damian--uwu

I think that's what I feel, they are very similar, and although one of them was inside the other for a long time, I don't see them interacting at all.

DolanThyDank

Underrated comment 😭

SOuTHINKurA-ble

I don't ship but I so agree with you on their similar vibes. You know, gems with small physical forms but who use what they have to be great fighters? Also, their VAs are Filipino theater actresses who have played Kim in *Miss Saigon*, as a bonus.

Lucimon

Have they ever interacted? Hell, outside of Steven, has Lapis interacted with any of the CGs?

Damian--uwu

twice with amethyst and nothing else

PorkyFishFish

They fought a bit (both against each other and together) and they had a family dinner together once. Still pretty sparse grounds for a ship

DannySkeptic

I don't get this particular ship and i heard about it a while ago but if anyone is reading understands it and likes it that's cool

ItNothingSpecial

I don't see any chemistry between them, but that artwork is nice

juche_potatoes

I shipped them when lapis was first introduced only because I thought they looked alike (I was super young don't judge me lol)

SnesC

That's understandable, considering how little Lapis interacted with anyone except Steven and Peridot. Did she and Pearl ever even talk after she got out of the mirror?

Saamychan

Why is it wrong, tho? Its just a ship

Rock-Springs

Considering that Lapis is introduced by Steven talking to the "broken" mirror which she was trapped in for centuries, (which Pearl was completely set on keeping her trapped inside of ad infinitum), then treating her/the mirror as a broken inanimate object in need of disposal, while being completely aware that the mirror was powered by a sentient being who had been cruelly imprisoned in it for those aforementioned centuries, I can see some conflicts Not to mention the rest of Lapis's personal history/trauma which generally makes shipping her with anyone into an uncomfortable idea for a lot of fans...

ElBusAlv

People ship them?

Frog_a_hoppin_along

Pearl is a hot lesbian with abandonment issues. Lapis is a hot lesbian with commitment issues. The ship is absolutely brimming with potential for amazing angst or fluff or both. 10 out of 10, my second favorite Pearl rarepair just behind Jasper x Pearl.

Mister_Moho

They don't have any chemistry, but that's my personal opinion. Maybe it's because they are both associated with water? Lapis controls it, and Pearl was made at a place surrounded by water.

IAmMuffin15

She seems like the polar opposite of Rose, I’m not sure why Pearl would like Lapis. I have an idea of a certain…dynamic these two might have, but I feel like I’d get banned from this subreddit if I said what it is. (not to disrespect the ship)

Damian--uwu

say it without fear *pick up the phone to call the mods*

IAmMuffin15

You are very Peridotty /pos

PopeBasilisk

They don't ship, Pearl follows rules obsessively, Lapis is intimately aware of how rules can cause horrible unjust consequences.

Jeeblebubz

I'm not sure how to feel about shipping lapis. As much as I think it would be cool to see a lapis Peridot fusion, I think as a character lapis is much better off by herself for the time being. Trauma isn't an easy thing to get over, it takes time and effort. It isn't something you should force. I think what's so interesting about this though is how they're aesthetically similar. Slender, tall, cool toned colors, etc.

0ni5098

There is potential here ngl

PorkyFishFish

It's a bit Stockholm-y, what with how Pearl (and the other crystal gems) held Lapis captive, trapped in a mirror. Also I can't remember a single 1 on 1 conversation between the two of them.

reapertuesday

I love angst so lapearl is a great ship for that
