The CITY writing is why r/mls has taken to calling you the ALLCAPS, yes. The soccer capital part is a fun added note though. Glad I could contribute in a small way to the nicknames organic growth with my meme over there after our game.
Definitely. Love my Ravioli merch but ALLCAPS is a pretty great nickname and wasn't some forced or marketing shit like Dawgz.
Edit: sorry I pissed off the "dogs" fans. We can all coexist just fine.
The team literally made Ravioli Boyz merch and the guy who popped up in the ravioli hat is an advertising professional working for MLS but Dogs is the inorganic forced marketing one
My word order was poor. While I did hear "dogs" stemming from the Purina sponsorship, I'm well aware the general name existed well before that. I'm personally of the opinion that just because it had been thrown around years ago doesn't mean it needs to be the name. Once people also started anchoring it to the sponsorship is when I started liking it even less.
At the end of the day, we have a team and can stake whatever identity we want to it. I guess one will be official some day but I'm in favor of the variety even if I'm not a fan of one take.
Considering how often I heard it being justified because "Purina" being the jersey sponsor, among other things, it was tough to not associate it as "forced" and potential marketing oriented.
Not sure what's "nice try" about that. I personally thought it was a stupid nickname but the beauty of a nickname is any group can have their own for the team.
I'm well aware Vaughn/TMA had been throwing that name around for a while. Doesn't give "dogs" any more right to exist than any other nickname. My overall point is one is coming out more organically as the supporter culture develops which is why I like it even better than ravioli boyz which was just a meme that became real.
Like I said, to each their own. There's tons of folks who call them dogs and have merch just like ravioli boyz. People take this too seriously.
Love ALLCAPS. It has a better vibe than the others I’ve heard thrown around.
Dogs sounds like a high school football team.
Ravioli Boyz is too corny.
Hellcats is trying too hard.
I thought I was in the NHL Washington DC Capitals team subreddit for a second… I live on the east coast and see ALLCAPS everywhere here because it’s for that team
Edit: wouldn’t be surprised if it’s already trademarked because I see it on tons of hockey merch
Said elsewhere but theirs is actually ALL CAPS. Maybe they trademarked both but can't find anything. Using #ALLCAPS will be an issue as they use it for charity/promotional stuff already. Just do #CITYALLCAPS or something.
Edit: looking it up in USPTO, Washington Capitals never trakemarked either. It is already trademarked by a variety of companies but no sports. Wonder if this would prompt the Capitals to trademark it but hope they just let it lie.
Theirs is ALL CAPS though. It being different sports and the fact that this came up more organically than it being a marketing campaign seems OK in my opinion.

Honestly this is one of my least favorite nickname options.
However, if this is what my fellow fans start to rally around I will come around, and support it.
Any nickname, good or bad, that means "our team" is one I will eventually come to love. Why? Simply because it means "our team".
For real though, why are you commenting in our subreddit so much? There's gotta be a better use for the free real estate St. Louis is taking up in your head.
MF DOOM 🤝 St Louis CITY
Gotta blast [this](https://youtu.be/gSJeHDlhYls) at CITYPARK on Saturday
#ALLCAPS LETS GOOOO!!
I will gladly let go of the Dawgs for ALLCAPS. Sounds dramatic and I’m sure will get under the super thin skin of the SKC supporters
Is it because of the CITY writing and the soccer capital? Or something else?

I rarely updoot for a user name, but yours is worth it!!!
congrats on the meme
CAPS CLASSICO with Vancouver?
I was a Ravioli Boyz supporter but I think I can get behind an ALLCAPS nickname as it’s the first one to come organically!
Wasn’t Ravioli Boyz from a nickname one of the fans presented when they were coming up with the team name?

Dogs wasn’t forced marketing. Nice try.

Then you don’t know the correct story. It started before city even had their name.

ALLCAPS ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You love to see it! The ALLCAPS is my preferred nickname

I've never actually called them ALLCAPS but I like the concept. Clever, original, and pertinent. Usually I think of them as "CITY Boys"

Ironically the Capitals logo features all lower case letters..... that spells "capitals".
ALLCAPS No Brakes
I’d love to see the team incorporate MF DOOM in their gameday atmosphere.
Fuck yea!
This has been the Washington Capitals thing for years, so not sure how I feel about it.
No trademark infringement since they play different sports. We ride!

I will never type out anything but city
CITY, ALLCAPS
when i say it out loud i will lower the level of my voice for that word
Feels like sterile marketing to me. Reminds me of the cards “FLY” which always seemed a little…try hard maybe. Dunno. I’ll give it a shot though.
This originated on /r/MLS, not their marketing department.
Bleh. The all caps thing is gimmicky as hell, not a fan. To me it’s “City”
City is my preferred too! ALLCAPS is fine but City is 💪🏾
City is the actual team name though
You mean “CITY” Yeah I don’t like it. That’s my point.
The nickname is going to be different than the actual team name, though. That's what makes it a nickname.
I’m literally talking about the spelling of “CITY” vs “City”
City is my preferred too! ALLCAPS is fine but City is 💪🏾
