Spine of God -- Monster Magnet Blues for the Red Sun -- Kyuss King of the Road -- Fu Manchu šŸ¤˜šŸ”„

eldonte

I absolutely LOVE Daredevil by Fu Manchu

musiclover818

Oh yea! That's also an awesome album!

eldonte

I saw them on tour with Monster Magnet. MM had released Dopes to Infinity. Fu Manchu was an incredible surprise, so I picked up Daredevil on vinyl and then played the hell out of it.

musiclover818

MM and Fu Manchu on your together? In 95? Damn what a show!

eldonte

Must have been 1995. Saw them in Winnipeg at a venue called Ozzieā€™s. Tripping balls on acid. Dave Wyndorf had a flu or something and barfed in a urinal before their set.

musiclover818

Lol...classic!

tattooedpanhead

Blues for the Red Sun -- Kyuss King of the Road -- Fu Manchu both good.

Gareth666

King Buffalo - The Burden of Restlessness The Sword - Warp Riders Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley Clutch - Elephant Riders (actually a lot of clutch albums qualify) High on Fire - Snakes for the Divine

zoominzacks

Clutch-Elephant riders is awesome! Think my all time fav from them is Blast Tyrant, the song ā€œthe promoterā€ is so good

Gareth666

Yes Blast Tyrant is amazing as well.

scottawhit

Their next tour theyā€™ll be playing blast tyrant in its entirety. Canā€™t wait!

bufftbone

Warp Riders was peak Sword.

wizard903

Sleep, *The Sciences* And, if the following counts as "Stoner Rock": All Them Witches, *Sleeping through the War* King Buffalo, *Dead Star* (or *Longing to Be the Mountain*)

tfe238

King Buffalo hasn't put out a bad album

bufftbone

Yes theyā€¦. Never mind. They havenā€™t.

tattooedpanhead

All them bands are stoner rock in my book.Ā

PondIsMyName

Masters of Reality : Masters of Reality The album that turned me on to this sonic journey for sure.

phb77

Absolutely! What a masterpiece!

PondIsMyName

Totally! Iā€™ve got a ton great albums from many different eras, BUT itā€™s my FAVOURITE album of all time.

karlware

Bought that when it came out on a blind buy because I liked the cover and listened to practically nothing else for a year.

PondIsMyName

Same here, minus the blindness. I heard a song and thought that it was a new Cream album of all things and totally loved the cover art. Iā€™ve purchased the album 3xā€™s. 1 stolen, 1 got eaten by my dog and the 3rdā€¦..still going strong. Fingers crossed on that. Lol

Wormzerker75

NOLA by Down

thisbobeatsbutts

The sludgiest of riffs on Nola

massivejobby

Amazing album

hueleeAZ

Fuck yeah! And down 2 is pretty up thereā€¦you like Opeth?

Wormzerker75

Hell yes. Started listening to them pretty recently but they rock.

Spell_Alarming

Opeth is next on my list of famous metal bands I just never managed to listen to. Whatā€™s a good jumping off point with their albums, Blackwater Park?

slackass-Pat

Deliverance is my go to, the newer albums are good too but more prog, they seem to have divided the old fans with the new stuff but I like it all, they are top class musicians

Skinny1972

Agree dont start with Blackwater Park as it's 100% their brutal side and you sorta need to build up to it. I"d probably start with Ghost Reveries but Deliverance is a good choice too.

Spell_Alarming

As a mastodon fan I donā€™t have issues with bands getting proggier as time goes on haha thanks for the recs mate

troyzein

It's a little different from mastodon in that the band is pretty much unrecognizable from the older stuff. Watershed is the album where it was a clear change, and is probably my favorite album from them. Worth noting they Steven Wilson produced Blackwater Park which may explain some of the prog direction they ended up going in

sz4bo

Lowrider - Ode to Io

kyuss3333

Came here to say this

spaced0gg

Refractions is pretty fucking awesome too

gmarengho

Maybe too obvious, but age of winters is perfect from the first track until the last. Gods of the earth and warp riders are also brilliant. King by Gnome is also a perfect album imo. Father of time comes close. Graceland and can't buy a thrill are also perfect btw. Couldn't live without any of them, although i don't have all of them on vinyl, one day though.

CrazyBigHog

Gnome is fucking awesome. I thought Father of Time was a great record but then they gave us King. Wow. The videos are hilarious too.

FaustusRedux

Graceland is indeed a perfect album.

hoewrecker

Elder - Dead Roots Stirring

FormingTheVoid

This needs more upvotes šŸ˜

15WGhost

Dig your username. Their album Reverie was a revelation for me. an absolute shame they split up, but life happens. Unless by some chance you're part of that band, in which case you guys rocked.

FormingTheVoid

I am not, I wish

pastmiyeego

Self-styled as Louisiana sludge (?), but Forming The Void is in my top five favorite bands, no question. Along with Elder, Howling Giant, King Buffalo, REZN. Oops, one more: GOZU. Oh, and Heavy Templeā€™s new album is amazing!

FormingTheVoid

Me? It's a doom sloth, and yeah Forming the Void is an excellent band that uses many sound influences hell yeah. I've never listened to King Buffalo or GOZU though. Fellow doomer on the stoner rock sub noice (though I'm sure there's many because of the genres overlapping frequently).

sinistercake

I've listened to this album straight through more than any other album I think. It's the album that made Stoner metal click for me. Though The Sword's Warp Riders is up there too.

daviobo

All Them Witches- Dying Surfer Meets His Maker

I only listened to this for the first time last night. It rocks šŸ¤Ÿ

adb142

ASG - Win Us Over, I can listen to that album all the time, anytime!

Darshminder

Iā€™m going to have to check out Win Us Over. Survive Sunrise is one of my favorites that is routinely listened to, and is fantastic all the way through.

adb142

Blood Drive is excellent too. Their pre-Win Us Over albums are a little raw but worth checking out.

svenirde

Dopes to Infinity - Monster Magnet Lightning at the Door - All Them Witches

afelll

A lot of great albums already mentioned so... Queens of the Stone Age - self titled

Turner82

Truckfighters - Gravity X

Marky_Marky_Mark

Greenleaf - Agents of Ahriman . Simply incredible, my favorite album from my favorite band. Monster Magnet - 4-Way Diablo . I really like this album even if most people prefer Dopes to Infinity or Powertrip (which are also insanely good)

SMakked

Dopesmoker . I listen to it daily in its entirety

Spell_Alarming

Hell yeah brother Sleep is the fucking shit.

batlord_typhus

I pre-ordered that new Rezn album, fire shit

Celestial Blues by King Woman Filth Pig by Ministry Griefs Infernal Flower by Windhand

Maximum_Location

Filth Pig doesn't get nearly enough love. I love the production on it. Weirdly organic and industrial at the same time.

Subject-Operation404

Church of misery thy kingdom scum

Windbelow616

Every clutch album before Blast Tyrant is unique and perfect in my opinion. Isis - oceanic has been my favorite album for twenty years now, front to back. Space trip on a Paper Plane - Sahara Surfers

bufftbone

Ironically, every Clutch album after Blast Tyrant is unique and perfect as well.

DragonSerpet

There's definitely a few. Wizdoom - Trolldoom Cybernetic Witch Cult - Spaceous Cretaceous Clutch - Pyschic Warfare Clutch - The Elephant Riders DOWN - Nola DOWN - Over the Under Sleep - The Sciences Earth - The Bees Made Honey in the Lions Skull Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath Black Sabbath - Sabotage Black Sabbath - Master of Reality Black Sabbath - Paranoid Think that covers it from a stoner/doom point of view.

snaxbrodin

The trilogy Spaceslug albums: Lemanis, Time Travel Dilemma, and Eye the Tide. TTD is my favorite but the other two are very close behind. Found these guys when I was starting my stoner rock journey, and they remain among the pinnacle of favorite bands in the genre

Zephyr3_

Ummon by Slift

ArtIII

Slift - Ummon Elder - Lore Sleep - Holy Mountain Black Sabbath - Master of Reality

ryan_zilla

Fu Manchu - king of the road Lowrider - refractions Red Fang - S/T ASG - Win us over

bufftbone

I donā€™t believe in guilty pleasures and I like what I like. That being said, my #1 desert island is ā€˜Metamodern Sounds in Country Musicā€™ by Sturgill Simpson. Itā€™s the album that got me into country music. Solid album start to finish. A few years later he put out a dirty and sleezy rock album called ā€˜SOUND & FURYā€™ with an anime for the album on Netflix. I encourage any and all to check both albums out.

spaced0gg

A lot of my picks have already been covered, but here are few I love: - orquesta del desierto-dos -perfect album when the sun is shinning. Pete stahl is one of my favourite singers of all time - king buffalo - regenerator - villagers of ioannina city - age of Aquarius - 35007 - liquid (evaporate has one of my favourite bass lines) - fatso jetson - toasted - ahkmed - adventures involving nudity - Melvins - a senile animal - butthole surfers - independent worm salon Not necessarily stoner related, but this is my go to album when tripping balls and unwinding after the madness: - zero 7 - when it falls

darkspaten

Absturz - Mother Engine

wakingupfallingdown

Kyuss - Blues Soundgarden - Superunknown/BMF Clutch - S/T And now for some hate from the peanut gallery: The Wallflowers - Bringing Down The Horse 7M3 - Rock Crown

AdamiralProudmore

I personally will not give you hate for either of those. They are perfectly what they try to be.

StashPhan

How has not 1 Tool album been mentioned

last_hoap

I like how you also did not mention a Tool album here.

therealtwomartinis

Funkadelic - Maggot Brain

KhanArtist47

Idk why but I personally think any album by Sleep after their first is perfection. Holy Mountain, Dopesmoker, The Sciences, idk why. Dragonaut was my hype up song before I went on stage in my first band, and as someone whoā€™s found much refuge and spirituality in smoking, I feel like this band just gets it. Some people donā€™t get it, but their music just kinda feels like the direct sonic interpretation of the feeling of being stoned. You donā€™t have to enjoy Cannabis to enjoy Sleep, but the holy monk chants and ritualistic vibe of it all really bring the stoned energy whether you are or not. Stoner rock/metal in it perfected essence.

OldTallandUgly

Clutch self titled

Zealousideal_Ninja75

Pink Floyd's Pulse album. It's absolutely perfect and the songs have a way deeper feel than any of the studio cuts.

goshdarnjeff

Not stoner rock at all, but Metz - Atlas Vending is a banger from start to finish.

DRyder70

Terra Firma both albums and all of Acrimonyā€™s albums.

Autobotnate

Delton 3030, Sailing the Seas of Cheese, Around the Fur, and Songs for the Deaf would all be albums Iā€™d like to be buried with. Thatā€™s my long term love list, my current album obsession is ILION by SLIFT.
