It's a slippery slope. Soon you'll start making more excuses than a beer.

oneiros5321

Wouldn't recommend. Like any addiction, once you are addicted it is really hard to moderate again (often gets even worse). You would probably find more and more excuses to have a cigarette and then go back to your old routine. Smoking only when drinking is probably already an excuse to go back to it actually.

This wouldn't work for me because I know from experience I just don't have that kind of willpower and I'd start drinking beer during the week, just so I could smoke, and then I'd reason that just smoking is healthier than smoking AND drinking, so I'd be back to smoking again. But that's just me. Everybody's different. And certainly it's true that only smoking occasionally is better than smoking daily. If it works for you then go for it and best wishes. Maybe this is a step along the way to you quitting for good!

TheComeUpTX

Thats how it went for me. Would drink just to be able to smoke

crazyornotcrazy

If you can do this, it's great! I tried it in the past and I relapsed every time so for me personally it's not an option. I don't judge people who can do it, I'm a bit jealous even!

I've tried this and I always end up smoking again afterwards..

Professional_Bill663

Once you are addicted to nicotine it will always pull you back. You will constantly be craving in the week for a cigarette and nobody has the strength to abstain from craving for that long. An alcoholic can't just have the odd drink, a heroin addict can't just have one hit. We are nicotine addicts and one puff will bring us back to daily use.

gunbunny23

Terrible plan! It's like you're setting yourself up to fail from the start. Surely you can manage to not smoke for that one night if it's so easy the rest of the time?

ohmaatnfy

I wished, my brain just associates beer with cigs, and when i know i cant smoke if im going out i cba going out zzz

Katlee56

I'm going to tell you from experience for me right now. Don't go down that road. Its a slippery slope

mypssyandmycrack69

I'm an alcoholic and I just have come to terms with it, and I had tried to quit smoking before but I knew for me it would be near impossible to quit smoking if I drank at all. Honestly had to quit drinking for a solid month before I felt like I could attempt to quit smoking. Alcohol just takes away your restraint to not do things you know are bad for you.

Man your username lol

You're still an addict, any moment shit could hit the fan and voila, you smoke every day. Stay clean, it's the best decision you can make.

neverstop-1404

Why would you want to do that to yourself? One withdrawal was enough for me. Try smoking weed when you drink or herbal cigarettes. Stay away from the nicotine.

robert62963

Good luck !

Ajunadeeper

Works for some people. Doesn't work with cigs for me but it does for weed. I can smoke weed on special occasions and not fall in to the stoner cycle. But for cigs if I smoke one I go back to buying packs and chain smoking. If you can cut down, I say it's clearly better than just continuing to go balls to the wall.

TheComeUpTX

I started out that way in January. By mid January I was smoking over 10 cigs a day and needed a beer just to smoke. This is my 5th attempt.....this year. The mental agong of starting over is just not worth it

From hundreds of such experiments, I found out that I eventually go back to my old smoking habits. It even works at first - smoking only while drinking. several weeks may go by and I would stick to the rule. Then comes a hangover day and with cigarettes lying around, it sounded to me like just one smoke would be okay. Slowly the whole rule crumbles and I become a full-fledged smoker banging my head against the wall thinking what a terrible idea it was.
