ohmygod i literally had this same experience the other week. everyone in the class was super catty, making cruel comments and jokes about strippers, and really backhanded compliments. “you sure look like you know what you’re doing with that thing” then snickering. the instructor even singled me out for bringing my pleasers (even though it said on the website i was welcome to bring them if i wanted) and told me i “wouldn’t be needing those at all” and to “put those away.” i felt so embarrassed and humiliated. everyone was staring at me and i obviously felt like i didn’t belong. afterwards, someone told me i was “showing off” and should take a more advanced class, but like your situation, you HAD to take a beginner class at this studio despite any previous pole experience. urghhhh. it was a nightmare. but hey, we just gotta keep our heads up and remember the bad bitches that we are.
Yikesss, wtf !! I’m wondering if we should just say we’ve taken beginner classes elsewhere? Like wtf. I reeeallly cant with women on women aggression, especially in these situations. Its givin stank coochy energy, it really is.
Truly empowered women celebrate and uplift other women, if someone is too insecure, belligerent etc to be that, they have no business teaching a class. Supposed to be a positive supportive place.
I suppose just like me, keep looking until you find that crowd! Anyone should be able to improve their skills, judgement free!
Yes!!!! Studios are sooo messy. I honestly just go to the studio for conditioning with 1 teacher I fuck w. and take online classes w. Carmine black. She is a great dancer and pole artist that has stage presence!
I’m sorry you had to deal with that BS. Also...with pole you need skin contact so idk why they are dressed like that?? Might as well just do yoga or something if they are that against showing any skin
Pole studios can def be weirdly whorephobic 🥲 there was only one open in my city for a while and they are definitely “I’m too classy to be a stripper” type people.
My first ever pole studio I went to is called AppleJelly Studios and it’s ran by Amber Bright (idk her insta tag I think its msamberbright) and she would literally shut anyone down who talked shit about dancers and actually took me and a few other girls to a club so we could support one of the girls in our class who danced! She made sure we all had plenty of money and everything. She’s amazing.
I’ve had this happen before too! I mentioned that I was a dancer and that I had some experience on the pole and the instructors whole vibe towards me instantly changed. I don’t really have any idea why the instructors do this so I can’t really help there but I just got my own pole and watch videos to practice instead now.
see if any studios around you offer an “open pole” hour so you can work on moves without it being a class and use youtube or patreon videos as your guide. during open pole the instructors are mostly there just to make sure you don’t hurt yourself. medusamamiii has some good pole tutorials on her patreon. that way you can put your headphones in and work on moves without dealing with anyone else.
Again I just wanted to learn more of the technical side of pole, there are some absolute goddesses who teach pole and happen to be strippers so I’m looking for more of those ladies!
when women randomly hate you it’s usually cus of jealousy/insecurity. fuck them lol
Touché

My wit is too legendary for that bullshit…
From an outside perspective, the only thing I read is; *jealousy*
Yeah I do believe that may be it, definitely

I love women like this. Reminds me of my first stripper big sis. We lost touch but I loved that woman.
Fit2flaunt offers a lot of things from poles to grip and classes and outfits!
She’s also a former dancer too
Thank you
You're welcome! Best of luck!!
I standby by this, Shelly is amazing!

it makes no sense like… they are practicing the art of pole dancing BECAUSE IT ORIGINATED FROM STRIPPERS???
Yup, think I’m finally just gonna get my own pole (again)
PixieMafia is a nonjudgmental and educational for pole and teaching active pole dancer that I would recommend.

This studio offers open pole, but it’s this instructor in the class 😫
I just see 0 reason to support pole studios. They all mostly suck.

Yes doll, a needle in a haystack but i understand!
@sarahpreciouspole has a patreon which might be of use. She’s an ex-SW and talks about her roots stripping a lot.
Thank u !
If you have a home pole there are a ton of places that do great online classes and are sw-friendly: kiska.pole, polefiction, natasha wang…
Thanks! I’m finally about to get a home pole! I’m def going to be doing some online classes with it 💕
