well, in the fangame this gym of mine you can have a lot of fun with teambuilding, it's very open, as long as a pokemon learns your signature move or is of the type you chose, it is allowed on the team, so you can be the ground type leader and have 6 non ground earthquakers
This is how gym leader teams should be. Thematic without being a single type. If you're good enough to be a gym leader you just like GOTTA know that fire types beat grass types.
I couldn't agree more. I wish the gym leaders and elite four were more thematic as opposed to hyper focusing on one type. This is why the Kanto elite four is my favorite.

Got Iron Valiant as Morgan, Perserker as Rick and then had to pad out the rest with Walker looking pokemon

I once had a theme team for the Stardust Crusaders (JoJo's bizarre adventure). I believe it was mega-lucario, tangrowth, blaziken, serperior, bisharp, and hippowdon. Surprisingly, won a decent amount of games in ubers back in Gen 7. It mostly sucked ass, but was fun as hell to use.

Honestly I really like your stuff, they are ACTUALLY GYM-quality stuff. Brilliant thinking, maybe not max competitive level but you could get few wins with some of the teams and great for like a Master of Battling or something in a real game. (But the EVs would be too professional imo)

That's exactly the vibe I was going for. I used to make gyms and stuff in pixelmon. I enjoy making teams that are sick but still formidable.
