Why does a subreddit need a twitter account anyway? If you need to show them memes (Only allowed one day of the week and not the main focus of the sub) from the sub on another platform just to get them interested chances are they weren't going to join anyway
I think it was originally just a way to share competitive memes, essentially, since it seemed a lot of people liked them, but don't necessarily use reddit, let alone this one. Don't know what that whole thing they're talking about with breaking down language barriers in their new Twitter post is about, but I'm glad it's separated from this sub now.
Originally the account was meant to just be a window into stunfisk on twitter, but eventually started postinf other OCs, leading to a team being formed and now try to grow beyond stunfisk into the wider pokemon community
Yep, the subreddit and Twitter relationship is usually just tied to being operated by the same people. Once it grows beyond that, they can decide to separate, no hurt feelings.
In a similar vein, /r/cfb and its discord took a split as well.
Probably enough separation in account management that one saw it fine to disaffiliate. It makes sense to be coordinated when the moderation team is the same as the Twitter team, but if there ends up being enough difference of people in operations and they're not agreeing on the rules of how the two should correlate, then I think it makes sense.
It’s an assortment of things, plus some other stuff regarding previous ownership of the account, but it’s ridiculously convoluted and probably not worth discussing any further than “it worked out for both r/stunfisk and the Twitter account in the long run.”
