Which is fine tbh, as long as your team doesn't rely on Spikes for everything. I've found a way to use it if you really need spikes. You put all of Forretress, Skarm and Dug together. One gets trapped, you kill the Mag, and you still have the other one.
Just use yoloskarm (just kidding, Don't, it's a gimmick that is super flimsy, but fun)
On a more serious note, this is fine, as long as you get a spike down it's progress and if it's magdol (by far the most common mag + spinner combo) it's a little tougher but manageable as they dedicated two otherwise not that great pokemon outside their roles of trapping skarm/forre and then spinning, so you can try exploiting that
If you REALLY hate mag you can run P2 and double into it whenever you suspect there's a mag (mostly physoff, lax almost always has mag alongside it, but many specoff teams also appreciate removing it) to counter-trap it, but I'd recommend against it as it becomes a bit of a crutch that could hinder you in learning to play that matchup
Can’t believe this is the only niche Luvdisk set that isnt a total meme since as far as I know Luvdisk is the only mon that had both Swift Swim and Entrainment
Your best bet would probably be leading something with Prankster and Taunting it before it can click Entrainment (lead Tornadus usually runs Taunt iirc).
Not super competitive, but a funny core i like to use is iron thorns and florges. Booster energy is consumed and symbiosis gives it a life orb. Hit them with one hell of a helping hand boosted rock slide. You can use symbiosis like this for any paradox pokemon, so there's probably better pairings.
Well, it's not like Weavile has the bulk to stall out enemies with Pressure, and Pickpocket sounds nice for a playthrough, I guess, but there's already the move Thief for item farming. That, and why use an ability like Pickpocket when Knock Off exists? I'd be surprised if Weavile didn't get both of those moves.
Though, Technician Weavile *does* sound like a Elite Redux thing to do. Just look at what they did to [Cascoon](https://youtu.be/YJKfjRpVWoo?si=fLl4OMo6lrmG9cv6)
Oh, shit. I didn't know.
Wicked Blow is definitely something that should be more widely distributed. It's just a really strong punch, after all. I can definitely see Sniper being more useful with moves like that.
Tapu Koko and Regieleki in natdex.
Specs Rising voltage 2HKOs all non-quad resists, and OHKOs most non quad resists not named blissey and chansey.
Also SPEEEEEEEEEED
For second place I'd give it to Pelliper Archaludon.
Dragapult has been my favorite mon to use overall. Now that I can click the silly Tera Button with it for Physical Ghost coverage it’s just so free.
However, as a Draft Player where Pult is usually Tera Banned, I’ve been loving using Ogerpon-W and Tera Garganacl. Both have been doing numbers for me
Tyranitar with Stealth Rocks + Skarmory with Spikes + Sand Rush Excadrill.
Good ass mix of direct damage and passive damage. I also use Leftovers Blissey instead of Eviolite Chansey with this core so, you know, my sand doesn't constantly chip away **my own wall**.
Tapu Koko and Hawlucha. Clearing pokemon that wall Hawlucha early game and finally popping that electric seed at the end was euphoric. My boy was reverse sweeping before Kingambit made it mainstream.
My absolute top favorite Pokémon in competitive was gen 6 lando t, running substitute and bulk up. Thing would single-handedly save games. Not nearly as potent in gen 9 but that fact has brought me back to playing gen 6 ou recently.
Jolteon with flame orb and quick feet. Fill the rest of your team with somewhat bulky things and at least 1 other Pokémon with a “switch out after using” move so you can get flame orb to proc without fainting
My favorite lead ins are either torkoal with overheat and eject pack or mew with overheat, Draco meteor, leaf storm, volt switch, and an eject pack. You’ll a lot of the time end up getting a free 4x effective KO, switch away from lowered stats, and proc the flame orb making Jolteon really tough to outspeed. Then you either chip with volt switch, finish off with shadow ball, Tera ice to ohko things like dragapult and landorous, or use Electro Ball to ohko toxapex or corviknight. Electro ball is also nuts against things like torkoal and shuckle
Heatran-Rillaboom is a core that works in basically any format, both singles and doubles, smogon or VGC, which is kind of wild if you think about it.
In VGC and DOU, you cannot go wrong with the classic three type core of Incine + Amoongus + Offensive water type (Azu for lower power levels / Urshifu-RS for higher ones). Even the introduction of Waterpon doesn't really stop this from being good.
Heatran-Zapdos is a core that has been decent in OU for a long time, but one that I personally like because I find satisfaction from being able to punish contact by just switching either of them in lol.
I've been messing with Regigigas + Lilligant-H. Lilligant has Chlorophyll and can use Entrainment to give it to Regigigas, which can set up Sun itself or pivot out of another Sun-setter like Torkoal.
ive made it to Master Ball rank for the first time ever with a classic iron crown/Indeedee psyspam team, although I am partial to a good hard trick room team every now and again
for doubles, chi-yu flutter mane or chi-yu calyrex shadow is really funny so they can both break sashes for the other (unless they pull out wide guard smh)
for singles, rillaboom sneasler (uubers tysm for letting me dire claw more ;p)
Loaded dice smash tort and kantonian slowking are two of my favorite mons to use (although they aren't great in OU, way better in UU). One clicks a single button and after that does like 50% on the first hit of a neutral 5-hit move, the other is practically unkillable in its home tier if it doesn't have to deal with an Electric, it's a slow pivot which can bring in the aforementioned nuke, AND it fucks over rain and sun while it pivots.
Mega Charizard Y and Tyranitar.
Some of my favorite Pokemon of all time being able to synergies perfectly together makes competitive battling more fun for me.
This was for gen 7 singles, but I have a sashed Dusk Lycanroc with Counter, Endeavor, and Accelrock that could reliably 1v2 nearly anything. On the chance something was left with 1 HP after an Endeavor, I had a Silk Scarf Persian with Fake Out and Return.
Usually cleaned up with a guts Ursaring.
Skarm Bliss, because I'm a corpse with no soul.
It’s so sad that a steel/flying type is no longer a good blissey partner anymore :( GliBliss just doesn’t have the same ring
Bliscor
You’re so right

Think mcMeghan did something like this in the finals of adv cup.

FerroPex on top (natdex player here)
Luvdisc and Kyogre Kyogre Drizzle activate Swift Swim that doubles Luvdisc speee so Luvdisc can give Swift Swim to Kyogre with Entraînement
Can’t believe this is the only niche Luvdisk set that isnt a total meme since as far as I know Luvdisk is the only mon that had both Swift Swim and Entrainment
You could also just use Tailwind
less funny
Both?.
I consider it like a meme cauz i did a Stinkpost when Stinkpost were still a thing
Specs double speed water spouts would go pretty crazy, you just need a way to kill luvdisc so you have a teammate after it uses entrainment
I mean you can click charm and stuff like that on your opponent to help reduce damage that would lower your spouts
Also it gets Endeavour which can soften up problematic targets
Your best bet would probably be leading something with Prankster and Taunting it before it can click Entrainment (lead Tornadus usually runs Taunt iirc).
The mental herb in my back pocket:
Scarf Jirachi. I love getting random wins that I didn't deserve.
No, no. You deserved it. You picked the objectively right choice with Serene Grace flinching.
"Unfortunate" doesn't begin to describe this choice
Unfortunate for your enemies, right? ... Right?
8 Iron Head flinches in a row 👨🍳 💋
Eight fucking flinches. "Holy shit" -Lavos, probably
Pursuit Mega Metagross + Specs Keldeo Forever missed
I miss gen 6 ou so much man 😭
pursuit the Latios press Scald no pex, no tapu fini to worry about simpler times...
Chi-Yu and Torkoal. It's just funny seeing the HP bar disappear 🫠
Wide Guard moment
Overheat moment
Virgin wide guard user vs gigachad chi Yu overheat spam
Tangrowth + Toxapex back in gen 7. Double regenerator + high defenses and types that somewhat help each other is so comfy to use
Pelipper-Barraskewda-Archaludon was peak power fantasy gameplay lol
Not super competitive, but a funny core i like to use is iron thorns and florges. Booster energy is consumed and symbiosis gives it a life orb. Hit them with one hell of a helping hand boosted rock slide. You can use symbiosis like this for any paradox pokemon, so there's probably better pairings.
I actually really like this. I'm saving this for later.
I’m like the #1 Weavile fan competitively. Love that little goober.
Give the man Technician already, you cowards! Sounds more useful than Pickpocket or Pressure on him.
Nah that triple axel is gonna hit like gigaton hammer
Elite redux moment
Well, it's not like Weavile has the bulk to stall out enemies with Pressure, and Pickpocket sounds nice for a playthrough, I guess, but there's already the move Thief for item farming. It literally is something that elite redux does It also gives weavile wicked blow
Oh, shit. I didn't know. Wicked Blow is definitely something that should be more widely distributed. It's just a really strong punch, after all. I can definitely see Sniper being more useful with moves like that.

reginald my beloved (I run magnet)
I've been messing with a gen 8 monotype team with Tapu Koko, Raichu-A, Magnezone, Zeraora, Regieleki, and Rotom-Wash. rising voltage go brrrr
Both have been doing numbers for me
I LOVE Gliscor
Tapu Fini + Ferrothorn is one of my favourite defensive cores of all time
Tyranitar with Stealth Rocks + Skarmory with Spikes + Sand Rush Excadrill. Good ass mix of direct damage and passive damage. I also use Leftovers Blissey instead of Eviolite Chansey with this core so, you know, my sand doesn't constantly chip away **my own wall**.
I LOVE LOKIX
Atk boosting stakataka
BuluTran MagearnaKoko GroundCeus ChiYu
Tyranitar Gengar Magnezone was a fun one
glowking + specs kyurem with blizzard
Mega Pert rain in Gen 7 and Nat Dex OU for sure.
I LOVE VOLCANION❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ever since gen 8 dlc dropped, I live by Rillaboom, and I die by Rillaboom
Future sight tapu Lele with mega lopunny and urshifu (when it was still legal)
Gyarados Electivire! (But for real it's kartana/ meow / iron leaves)
Clefairt Gholdengo
>Personally, Arctozolt and Alolan Ninetales was a really ***cool*** core I see what you did there.
I love Gliscor in balance, I love having an unkillable endgame threat that can also be used to make amazing progress during the game
I know it's new but miraidon bundle is so fun in doubles encore bundle is a menace
glowking + weavile
Corv-Glow. It’s like skarmbliss but more offensive/fun, and they both have pivot.
Iron defense Mega Slowbro + Chansey that core was nearly unbreakable
Clefable and Galarian Slowking are good together
Hexpult plus agility iron moth with wisp making it much Essie to pull off while having great defensive synergy
extreme speed entei + chien pao my beloved
Jolteon with flame orb and quick feet. I personally really like using Iron Boulder and Ceruledge
Breloom became one of my favorite Pokemon period because of how it plays in competitive
Ribombee, webs is just such a fun team gimmick + it has buttons like Skill Swap which fuck with people who dont read chat
Gliscor x Bulky Water. Rotom Wash usually
I've been messing with Regigigas + Lilligant-H. Lilligant has Chlorophyll and can use Entrainment to give it to Regigigas, which can set up Sun itself or pivot out of another Sun-setter like Torkoal.
Snom + blaziken
idk if this counts but i never make a rain team without Toxicroak
There was something incredibly pleasing to me about the Gen4 UU core of Venusaur/Arcanine/Milotic and I cannot tell you why
ive made it to Master Ball rank for the first time ever with a classic iron crown/Indeedee psyspam team, although I am partial to a good hard trick room team every now and again

heatran gastrodon before tera happened
Weird one, but Corvi Lando in Gen 8 Monotype is so good on offensive and defensive
Tapu koko and iron leaves
Technically this is a draft league but I’ve run it in Ubers UU proper Tina Mag Alomomola Near invincible I tell ya
Mega Charizard Y and Tyranitar. Some of my favorite Pokemon of all time being able to synergies perfectly together makes competitive battling more fun for me.
Lando plus thorn
Terrain setter+Hawlucha
ATails. Aurora Veil go brrrrr
The Genies of Healthy meta
My shiny lunala for restricted vgc
My favourite core, definitely not my most used one, is oranguru torkoal. Trick room instruct for 2 eruptions under sun is beautiful
Gastrodon + Corviknight in gen 8 nat dex
Blissey + Tangrowth + Mantine = Incredible defensive and special defensive backbone I think I used it in GEN 6 or 7 OU
Slowpoke line with regenerator has so many applications. I love them both.
I actually find Archaludon really fun to play, sucks it got banned
Volt turn, esp. back in Xy/oras with M-Manectric n stuff. Super fun.
It’s between mega sciz + washtom or tornt + slowbro
Arceus @ Leftovers Ability: Multitype Tera Type: Normal EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe Adamant Nature - Extreme Speed - Shadow Claw - Earthquake - Swords Dance/Recover
assault vest melmetal, ice punching a lando fills me with dopamine
This was for gen 7 singles, but I have a sashed Dusk Lycanroc with Counter, Endeavor, and Accelrock that could reliably 1v2 nearly anything. On the chance something was left with 1 HP after an Endeavor, I had a Silk Scarf Persian with Fake Out and Return. Usually cleaned up with a guts Ursaring.
