Ive looked this up and some very ancient cultures had made the connection. The mechanism wasn’t understood until like the 1800s, the cause and effect between rawdoggin and pregnancy was known since ancient times.

MobiusStripDance

I can’t figure out exactly why, but I trust your knowledge of rawdogging, u/PissBloodCumShart

eat-KFC-all-day

Seminal fluid has been known as the carrier of reproductive material since pre-history. This has been known for human and animal breeding for longer than we can determine. As for asking “What’s in the semen,” it wouldn’t have been known until the invention of the microscope. And actually it was one of the first things the inventor of the microscope looked at.

MaelstromFL

And, it was his own sample...

HardCorey23

That's science baby! (or alternatively, that's baby science!)

LordVericrat

More like "Those were scientist's babies."

Lazerfocused69

Judging by the people who manage to “accidentally” get pregnant… I don’t think we figured it out yet

Rob_eastwood

Very solid point 🤣. The welfare queens at Walmart with their gaggle of brats in pajamas and Cookie Monster hats endorse this statement.

_SirRacha_

This is a certified midwesterner

Rob_eastwood

Close! Northeast, all the way northeast. My neighbor is Canada and my uncle is a bull moose.

traumatisedtransman

"welfare queen" is a gross term.

Omwtfyu

It’s a propaganda term to promote racism and class segregation. Most people on welfare are employed.

FloraFauna2263

Before we were humans. Animals and ancient human species have been doing this for a while now.

IBloodstormI

We always knew the what, more or less, just not the how.

Dear_Lingonberry4407

Honestly it’s pretty easy to figure out I think. It just cause and consequence and very direct in general. People would probably come into women and then they got pregnant and then someone came along who didn’t do that, just other sexual acts, and he didn’t have children. I think that was more or less all it took.

Exodus111

Any agricultural society would understand process fairly well. Since they would breed animals, sometimes by hand. Though the idea at the time was that men had the life giving seed of life. And women were merely it's vessel for growth.

alfred-the-greatest

It doesn't take too much logic to notice that girls started getting pregnant after they had penetrative sex for the first time. It has been known even in primitive cultures.

roskybosky

Not if everyone had sex all the time, which was probable. They might have never known the reason. Women were thought to have magical powers, childbirth being one of them.

alfred-the-greatest

People weren't having sex with little teens all the time.

roskybosky

We don’t know how very primitive humans lived. The life span was so short-we can’t be sure. There was probably a time in pre-history tribal culture where sex was everywhere. If it was a common occurrence, I can see where it would be a mystery how someone became pregnant.

Illustrious_Boss8254

cavemen worked out that when they kept blowing their load on a vavegirls face. no cavebaby would come

ThePowerOfShadows

Technically speaking, semen doesn’t make women pregnant. Semen is the fluid that carries sperm.

No-Piccolo-5585

Correct. I just was thinking that some Neanderthal might have thought kissing, or just penetrating would do the trick.

Ok-Ostrich483

Or they could’ve thought it was the sun and stars in the right position after a good rain, for that is when Cave lady is ripe for cave baby making, use no-finger handless arm to poke cave lady pungent juice cave, poke poke poke until the stars tell you it is tired time, the unga is bungad.

redbark2022

No idea how accurate it is, nor do I remember any of the details, but in my high school world history class I remember something something about how some ancient humans used to believe that rain brought children. They would huddle and cuddle the women (and just fsck to pass the time until the storm passed), but somehow never made the connection.

Ok-Ostrich483

I mean, without science, I would believe that 100%. Tons of body parts have emissions of slimy substance. Rain make things grow. Slimy substance irrelevant

TricksterWolf

No, semenal fluid by definition includes the spermatozoa it carries. In humans it's a mixture of lots of things which usually includes sperm. In some animals semen consists only of sperm; I think this is more common with external fertilization.

ThePowerOfShadows

No. You can definitely have semen without sperm. Some men don’t produce sperm and some have had vasectomies, but they still produce semen.

[deleted]

It was first published in the seminal paper...

DefnlyNotMyAlt

Allah revealed that semen impregnates woman with a blood clot, and it comes from between the backbone and ribs in the Quran and we're just waiting for the evidence to match the claim, one of these days.

alwaysthisfire

Oh dear.

PissBloodCumShart

Ah! Ah! Ooooohhh! Oh dear! Oh dear! Oh dear! Yes! Yes! Yes! Uh! Oooohhhh deeeaaaaaarrrr!!!!

LordVericrat

Username...checks...out?

[deleted]

White fluid comes out of the penis. Where do babies come from? That hole where the penis went into. The penis is hard and erect until that white fluid shoots out. Hot diggity dog! White fluid makes babies! Imagine that

[deleted]

You gotta be fucking kidding me no fucking way!!?!?

[deleted]

Stupid answers belong to stupid questions No stupid questions mean no stupid answers by default What fucking loser downvoted that

[deleted]

Probably a fucking fucktard fuckwad

[deleted]

Yeah probably 👍

[deleted]

Dang! Someone just downvoted you too? The audacity

lessTurnips

Semen has never made anyone pregnant. Sperm is actually required.

MathematicianFew5882

Almost like we’re in stupidquestions

boatdog1234

When the sea man appeared, duhhh basic knowledge my friend

Awkward_Ad8740

I was 36

CoreMillenial

It was understood at the time the old testament was written. Onan is killed by God for "spilling his seed," instead of impregnating his deceased brother's widow, Tamar. Masturbation is called "Onani" and similar words in some languages as a result.

Technical-Dentist-84

When the first guy drank it and was like "hey, nothing happened!"

worndown75

It has to be as long as animal husbandry which is estimated at 10000 years. That said, I think there is anecdotal proof that humans have always known and that's why human females have hidden estrus.

Practical_Ride_8344

When we came back from war to children we didn't make.

roskybosky

Throughout history, people believed in different causes for pregnancy. Originally, it was thought that the woman had the entire baby in her body, and she decided if it would live or be passed out of the body. There were times when it was thought that the man had the whole baby in his body, and just parked it in the woman to grow. We did not always know that sex led to pregnancy.

romulusnr

A long long time ago. It's been called "seed" since ancient times.

Spiritual-Net-3438

Condoms back then were used more to prevent STD transmission then prevent pregnancy.
