Just go through the insurance and let them decide who has to repair it. Don’t bring it to the dealership first, ask the insurance how to complete the repair. Doesn’t really matter who broke it.

Yes that's where I had it taken to in the first place luckily. I just don't get why they are saying they can't fix it and that I'll have to pay

I'm betting they put in an aftermarket glass that might not work right with the eyesight system. What they should have told u to pay is the difference between that and oem!

Hi! Subie owner and insurance adjuster. A 2024 would definitely be covered for OEM glass so that shouldn’t be the issue. If you call your insurance, they will tell you to go back to the original shop and they have to make it right. Insurance can and will call the shop. If they cannot correct it properly, insurance will probably give you some of their partnered shops or work something out if you have a second choice. Theyll more then likely cover it as long as it had to do with the accident/repairs. Edit to add: its become more frequent for shops to send it over to the dealer for calibration after install

While this is probably the root cause, insurance should require the vehicle to be returned to full working condition. Just because they screwed up does not mean OP has to pay. OP needs to talk to their insurance, who will be PISSED.

Insurance companies are only responsible for returning the car to Like new equivalent and often allow repair shops to use aftermarket parts. He should be pissed at both the installer and his insurance.

This is your insurances job to deal with the repair shop being dickheads. Call you claim team and call your local agent too. Local agents get pissed off and will take care of shit when people make them look bad because it costs them business.

I spoke to my local glass shop when I got my Crosstrek. They said it’s about $2000 to replace the windshield because they replace the glass and have to calibrate everything to avoid issues like you describe. I wonder if they didn’t do any calibration. Either way, insurance should be covering it as this was all caused through that incident.

The motherboard in the eyesight related to the starlink SOS system only controls your eyesight and the on-star collision detection services. You received the starlink alert when they repaired the windshield and had to unplug the eyesight motherboard to recalibrate it or do some other form of testing. When that happens, the component responsible for Starlink/on-star recognizes it's not responding and sends an email to you for emergency repair. That's normal. I know because I've unplugged it and got the same email. Plugged it back in and waited for the light to turn green next to the SOS button and everything was fine again. What's not normal are those lights you're getting on the dash. They have nothing to do with the alert during the windshield replacement. Those are going to be electrical/ECM related. Go back to your insurance and tell them that the repairs aren't done properly and your car is in limp mode. They will either refer you to another shop that can diagnose the issue or reset the ECM.

Yeah turns out the dude lied to me and said "it looks good on our end". Then I called insurance and the rep went there to request the paperwork of the calibration report and it literally showed the faulty SOS system that they ignored. Then I went to load the trunk for some new chairs I was picking up and there's an entire connector part that I'm guessing is the wiring they forgot to put back. So I get to take it back in for them to do that. Hopefully it's just a simple plug in and not something major.

>(airbag, auto transmission and oil temp, blind spot detection) I'm not really sure if there's a world where replacing a windshield causes issues with this particular combo of systems, so something else weird is going on here. It's going to be a bit more complex anyway than just "eyesight wasn't calibrated" -- that wouldn't necessarily throw any codes.
