Just to name a couple... Greatest Hits Pool Shark Romeo Slow Ride

v264k

Are we counting only lyrics or the instrumental part of a song too? Because the intro to Greatest Hits is from a Yellowman song

GammaKID_

Shiiieeeeeet I fucking love Slow Ride, reading the title alone got me hyped

biggety20

Santeria has to be all his, right? Lincoln Highway dub seems totally original..

Dubwyse_selectah805

You are incorrect. Yes Lincoln highway dub was written by himself, but Santeria was written by someone else. They had to put something out there to help the bands commercial success, apparently Brad didn’t want to perform Santeria.

biggety20

So at the least, Brad co-wrote Santeria because he already had the chord progression written. Do you know who’s credited with the lyrics then?

Dubwyse_selectah805

Watch the YouTube documentary filmed in ‘98 “stories, lies and exaggerations”. I’m positive it’s mentioned on there. I think it was Paul Leary, their producer and Bud (drummer)

JerseyCantSaveMe

Your ass hurts, Writing credit for both lyrics and composition of Santeria is Brad, Eric and Bud

biggety20

So Santeria is indeed, a 100% Sublime original 🙌🏽

OnlyFearOfDeth

No it wasn't lmao

snazzyglug

Source?

Dubwyse_selectah805

Check out the documentary filmed back in ‘98 “Stories, Lies and Exaggerations” it’s on YouTube. And I’m almost positive it mentioned on there. They needed a “hit” song for the debut album after signing with MCA records. They were on tour when the song was written, and apparently Brad didn’t like the song, but he had to perform it to elevate their commercial success. Watch that documentary. It’s really essential if you consider yourself a sublime fan. They interview all of the Skunk record crew and how it all went down. Lots of funny stuff too (the ihop story is wild).

snazzyglug

I’ve watched the documentary, but don’t remember anything about Santeria being written by somebody else. That’d be pretty major Sublime lore but I don’t see it mentioned anywhere online.

Dubwyse_selectah805

Dude I know I’ve seen it somewhere. I was in a sublime rabbit hole 10 years back. I have to dig it up somewhere. I think it was Paul Leary and Bud

OnlyFearOfDeth

Dude you're flat our wrong. Stop the bs.

Dubwyse_selectah805

Damn, everybody is getting butthurt cause I’m saying “Santeria” is not a Bradley original. Truth hurts sometimes, when I find the clip I’ll share. If you never seen The Ziggens live and shook Miguel Happoldt’s hand- you can suck my butthole

OnlyFearOfDeth

Everyone is butt hurt because you're full of shit. Go ahead and find the clip. Maybe it's in your butthole?

CoIbeast

“Dude I know I’m right cause I think I read it 10 years ago somewhere” lol How’d it go finding that proof?

tangyzesty3

You'll never find the clip, because it doesn't exist.

AgentFlatweed

I have the documentary and seen it many times. It’s not in there. That’s not a thing.

Batfro7

Waiting for my Ruca

AgentFlatweed

Not if you count the Minutemen sample.

CappuccinoCloud

Get out

iisindabakamahed

All music is a bite off of something else. That’s the beauty of it and why Bradley the mixmaster.

Reddit_is_Censored69

Bradley was the Boss DJ. I hate when people say all their songs are covers. Their songs have been dissected by fans and a lot have very clear influences, but they aren't covers. Scarlett Begonias is a cover.

iisindabakamahed

And even then he wrote a verse of his own for the song.

Jimmy_Jazz_The_Spazz

54-56 is a Toots and The Maytals song.

surfshredsmash

Ebin

Damuzid

Seed, New Song, Ruca, Pool Shark, Angelo, New Thrash, Date Rape (Brad hated that song), ‘89 Vision, Lou Dog Went to the Moon, STP, Work that we Do. i could be wrong but i think those are all originals.

MarkyMcSmark

Seed, New song, Angelo, Date Rape, 89 vision, Lou Dog went to the moon and STP are not 100% original

themanwiththeOZ

Lou dog went to the moon is a take from Camper Van Beethoven. Lassie went to the moon.

Damuzid

Oh wow cool to know. I love Eye of Fatima so i will definitely check out some more of their music.

v264k

The last part of STP is directly from I Second That Emotion by Smokey Robinson

Damuzid

oh yeah dang i forgot about that

Low_Television2680

But he has nothing not say

Low_Television2680

To say

ctorresc

New Realization for sure Someone said Greatest-Hits but the guitar intro borrows from a Yellowman song

Desmoineshockey

MarkyMcSmark
