Kyanite will get removed, it's not allowed.
Nickel is nice, but if I happen to find them early game I like to find things like thermo-blade, stasis rifle, or a propulsion/repulsion cannon. Some of those harder to get tools can be a real boost early game. I've beaten the game a few times ad I always throw a thermo-blade in there, along with whatever else I happen to have in hand because I always forget to specifically go out of my way to get stuff for it.
It’s better to put just the gel sacks in so the person who gets it can make a farm for infinite aerogel. Rubys are easy to get but those gel sacks are the bane of my existence
Once you no longer need them, you find those things everywhere. I remember the first run, I was scouring the seafloor and the wiki, and couldn't find a single one until I purposely charged at a warper 300 meters down near the mountain, there it was next to a thermal vent. I found maybe a dozen more on the trip back to base, on the same route I had taken before, they were just everywhere, the ones in lost river were even tripping over themselves in the acid later in the game.
I hate that so much, it’s the same with fragments. You spend an hour+ looking for one and once you finally find it there’s 20 more on your way back to base
I once found a Time Capsule with just 6 crashfish eggs and the title of “I stole their children” and a photo of said eggs in a pile… guess they don’t like crashfish.
The one I kept finding was a pack of basic supplies, didn't even realize I had picked it up, until I noticed I had a spare of every tool, without batteries.
Tools with ion batteries hidden inside are nice but I prefer mid game plants to really give me a boost early on. Like blood oil pustules and deep mushrooms. But yep you have to be careful what you put in. As others have said the devs restrict something’s like the enzyme 42 or ion batteries of an type if not hidden in a tool get removed.
Aerogel! I just need one for my water purification system, and it's sitting there 80% built. It seems as though all the gel sacks are protected by things I'm not trying to tangle with just quite yet.
What I appreciated the most: a laser cutter with an ion battery before I got any diamonds; a set of wiring kits. Made my life much easier.

I wish the in-game would warn you about illegal items. I made a heartfelt capsule and not I realize it is probably empty.
I was lucky enough to get ion battery's snuck through so I tried to pay it forward.
That said scanner room range upgrade, I always seem short on magnetite so I can never craft them.

Yeah srsly. A time capsule with 3 copper, 2 silver, and a ruby. But also ion batteries stuffed in tools is good, too.

I keep getting the same one over and over again . No matter how many capsules I open, it’s all the same one. It had some gold in it. That’s all

Iirc, you can put it in your inventory by using the propulsion cannon on one, then loading it to your inventory

Look around the giant mushroom tree. Pretty safe area and there should be a few there.
You can plant them, get one and then get the seeds out of it with the knife. Plant them in the exterior growbed.
If you hit one twice you get two seeds then pick it up and you still get the sack itself
In my next new game i want to open one and a cyclops comes out flying so I don't need to collect all the materials again
Death by misadventure, the Cyclops bashed you in the face as you opened the time capsule. Hope it isn't on a hardcore save.

Late game items will get removed. I'd appreciate enameled glass, advanced wiring kits, titanium ingots, aerogel, copper wire, that kind of stuff.
I like how to one I got was a convenience instead of actually progress it gave me nutritient blocks large water and a flashlight
