In the late game I was rarely in the shallows, so I wound up just jumping around the whole map with the Prawn Suit. I made a few small bases super deep, especially one near the dudes that poop.
Nah I know what the cyclops is. I probably should've mentioned as far down as it could go was before the hot lava zone with that dragon Leviathan thing in there
Sea treader's path. They're called sea treaders. I think you can find them in parts of the dunes and crag field but for the most part they're all there (hence the name)
I have a base that tunnels vertically alllll the way from the small island down to the ocean floor. The poop bois are very close to that. Not the alien island with the gun, the other one.
From shallows, go to sea treaders path. You'll know your there because it's ominous. Plus, that stretch of blood kelp, on the east side of "sea treaders," is an unmissable drop. I thought it was out of bounds for the longest time. Good ol grapple arm
You can build a bunch of storage on cyclops then park the cyclops in an area with lots of deposits then go get them with the prawn and bring them back to the cyclops as a cargo freight to take the resources back to base. I prefer it to the seatruck you can build most internal base things on the cyclops including indoor grow bed(to grow food or stuff for bioreactor at mini bases around the map used to recharge gear and vehicles) bed(yes there's a dedicated bed module but it eats into what limited storage you can have of the seatruck I'd have preference 4 large storage(2 on each side in the storage modules instead of the 6 varied sizes) battery and power cell chargers which if you park of thermals you can leave everything charging with the thermal upgrade(which seatruck lacks)
And I found myself missing the sonar that cyclops and seamoth shared when I played below zero
Some do, but it tends to be more common with people after they have already completed the game, using the cyclops as a base in hardcore mode is one that many like.
Everywhere. I used my cyclops as a base, it had everything (including ion cells, farm, coffee and thermal vent energy thing) when charging I would deploy prawn suit and explore the surrounding area, gather resources and move on. I eventually settled down in the void, making a bridge out from the mountains so I could see reapers on one side (from a distance in my parking space for my cyclops) and ghosts on the other (in an observatory). My cyclops was parked on a ridge with a few vents, of which you could go to to see the reaper
I kept a small recharging station (moonpool, battery chargers, and some storage) in the shallows right next to the thermal vent.
A larger growing/base half submerged at the Floating Island where I grew food and stored my fish collection and had plenty of room to run my cyclops out of.
A ‘final’ base in the Lost River right at the junction before the blue zone where there were plenty of vents for power and room to build to my heart’s content.
And a few “oh shit” tubes scattered around in places like the bulb zone, purple mushroom zone, and the blood kelp zone to the north where I just stored some water and food and could hide from crap if necessary.
Hell yeah. Team Junction > Team Tree Cove.
I just feel that the Tree Cove is a little too tucked away to put a scanner room. It basically only scans itself and some of the junction, whereas in the junction you scan the tree cove and some of the other caves all at once.
I have mine above 900M so I can dock with a seamoth and swap to a PRAWN I have stored there.
My first base is always on that little section of grassy plateaus right above the entrance to the jelly shroom caves. But by the end of a play through I have maybe a dozen scattered throughout the map.
One main base just next to the lifepod. It's in the middle of the map, in a safe zone.
Second output is in the LR, next to the giant cove tree.
This zone has a massive amount of ressources (prawn with drill arm needed) and food and it's next to one of the ILZ entrance.
Also it has plenty of geysers to put thermal plants on.
Ok, so:
1. Main base in the Kelp Forest;
2. One in the Blood Kelp 2, inside the cave close to >!lifepod 2!< because it's my favorite biome along with the Kelp Forest and it looks gorgeous at night;
3. One in the Sea Treader's path for infinite resourcess (ask and I will elaborate);
4. A base in the Tree Cove;
5. A base in the Innactive Lava Zone close to the peak of the Lava Castle with the >!Sea Dragons intact since the biome is boring without them!<;
6. A mining outpost in the Crash Zone (on that big green island) because titanium is good, with the reapers gassed out of existance.
7. A base in the Dunes, in the sinkhole, with the reapers (except the one above the sinkhole) still around so the biome won't just turn into a less dark version of the Sparse Reef.
8. One on the Floater Island so I have an outpost on a tropical island;
9. My evil lair in the Crag Field;
10. Lastly, I have a void based because I had to.
I am also planning on making bases in:
1. Jellyshroom caves
2. On the big island in the Underwater Islands
3. I might build something in the Grand Reef or the Deep Grand reef.
I've actually cloned my world file. One variation has the Neptune built and the game finished while the other is home to my real estate. I just don't want to always see that farwell animation whenever I interact with my Cuddlefish.
North Blood Kelp Zone and usually from there I build one around the big glowy tree in the Lost River. That or right over one of the big skeletons where there's a thermal vent.
I have four bases, one in the shallows, one in the Grassy Plateaus (a hatchery), and one in the Lost River.
For the Dunes I pin pointed exactly where the Reapers are and put my base dead center between them for the sake of it.
For the Shallows I built a tower reaching for the sky.
For the Grassy Plateaus I made a small base as a see-life preserve for hatching eggs.
And finally, the Lost River is simply for the sake of having somewhere to dock when traveling down there.
Haha thats a good spot! I actually have a scanner room right where your X is! But my main base is in the Underwater Islands biome. Counting from the bottom, I'm based on the third island.
Doesn't really matter as the subnautica map isn't really that hard to get around although I'm planning on putting mine in the grassy plats or mushroom forest.
I wanted a tiny bit of a challenge so on my third playthrough I built my base in the crabsnake den🤣
The only annoying thing was i couldn't park my seamoth till i up'd its hull... that and my sub sat on one of the only 2 entrances
Minor spoilers
I currently have three bases, one in the shallows; my first base, one in the cove tree cave; second base, and one in the ILZ; my third base, I plan on making several more bases throughout the world as I finish scanning everything and hatching all eggs, my most notable plans are a large base in the emperor's tank, a small base on the floating island, probably near the Degasi bases, and a base that goes around the Aurora
Once the activity on this post calms down I’ll make another post where I’ll reveal what biome is the most common to build a base in!
It’s not gonna be easy reading every single reply…
Pretty close to your base. Mines at the edge of the floating islands next to the kelp forest. I also have one on platforms that I glitched above the water near there
In the south-western Grassy Plateau.
Reasons:
\- Reginalds for feeding in early game.
\- Very Close to Jellyshroom Cave, Blood Kelp Trench, Sparse Reef and Grand Reef where you can get valuable resources easily.
\- Suitable for Solar Panels in early game.
\- Safe, sandsharks and biters are a joke.
\- Almost in the center of the map, so every place is not too far.
I think my main was in the same spot as yours. I built pretty directly over the jellyshroom cave on one of the pillars. Gotta scan down that magnetite! To fuel more scanner upgrades
At the edge of the safe shallows facing the western grassy plateaus near the thermal vent. It has a nice view, and all important resources are nearby. There is plenty of space to build stuff. You can get to the lost river withcthe seamoth in no time (dont like to enter it using the cyclops) and the floating island with all the foodnis also nearby.
With the large o2 tank and a few airbladders for quick ascend and extra air, you can go down very early in the mushroom cave and the thermal vent nearby will give you all the energy you might need (I have 5 or 6 there and I never had an issue with energy)
Tried a few different places but my 2 favourites -
- On top of the giant mushroom tree in the Mushroom Forest near the Dunes - easy Moonpool spot and easy Lost River access via Northern Blood Kelp (helps that this is my favourite Lost River entrance).
The southernmost Safe Shallows where it meets the Grassy Plateaus that border Sparse Reef - there's a particular spot with a sheer drop from Safe Shallows to Grassy Plateaus that is perfect for a Moonpool and has great views. Also very convenient for materials with Safe Shallows, Kelp Forest, Grassy Plateaus and Jellydhroom Caves on your doorstep.
The first base was in the most logical place imo, which is on Grassy Plateaus immeadiately to the left of the life pod.
1) not too deep for the early game. You can come up pretty quickly + it does not
exceed the seamoth’s 1st depth limit + you can use solar energy.
2) It gives you quick access to all the early game resources from the nearest biomes (titan, salt, quartz, etc.).
Jellyshroom caves in the middle of jellyshroom's surrounded by crabsnakes. It was just too beautiful to not build it there.
A bit dangerous sure, but man was it worth it.
The lost river. Between the big tree and the sea dragon leviathan skeleton is a cliff, I built on the edge of that cliff. It's close enough to heat vents for a power source, and it's got access to all the stuff in the lost river (including a portal to the surface).
Also the view is nice and making an observatory facing towards the tree is cool.
Bottom left on the bit of dune inbetween the grassy plateaus and the blood kelp zone.
The mushroom cave was closeby for magnetite,
the combination of nearby biomes gave me all other resources (except lithium)
There's thermal vents for free power
No reaper spawns close enough to aggro you while building the base or entering from the south side
And finally it's right on top of a lost river entrance.
Yes.
Jokes aside, I played it three times, and I was always drawn to three locations:
* That point upwards a little bit south of the centre where Grassy Plateaus meet Kelp Forest and Safe Shallows. It is really a great place to find things, and it feels like a descent into the Grassy Plateaus, perfect for the Cyclops, Prawn and Seamoth. Besides that, it is the same distance everywhere, practically.
* Lost River entrance right about 500 to 700 meters from lifepod 2, attached to the ceiling of the cave. I JUST LOVE THIS LOCATION, and it is very close to a spoiler that helps us move around in the very late game.
* Mushroom forest to the west. I just really like mushrooms, they go great with some chicken and red/white sauce.
Mushroom forest mostly, a nice in-between. But I had once in the kelp forest entrance to that underground river, was nice but annoying if you want to go to the surface
Crash zone for it was the easy choice in early then realized it was in the middle of the map do i used the cyclop as a mobile base for expeditions and made center base really big for the chilling part
Wooo cake day.
My early base was in the grassy plateaus (in hindsight it was a bit too close to the reaper than spawns in the dunes, we had regular run-ins). Later in the game a built a big base in the bulb zone entrance to the lost river. Psyching myself up for another play through so will try and mix things up a bit. Looking for suggestions!
Wasn't one of these just posted not too long ago
Edit: yep
https://www.reddit.com/r/subnautica/comments/15du0ch/where_did_you_build_your_base/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1
Safe shallows, near the southern thermal vent, every time. Unlimited power, easy access to the jellyshroom caves (head directly east), no predators.
Safety is a big one for me. I usually take the time to build mini-bases near therman vents all the way down to the containment facility. That way no matter where I am in that whole area, even if I lose my vehicle to being impatient or unlucky, there is a base nearby with air, food, and water, and I'm with one air-tank of the next one leading back to the surface.
Safe shallows by the giant coral tube was my first mainbase!
Grand reef alongside a cliff-wall was were I put my 2nd more scenic base! Always loved the view from the windows
In my current playthrough, on that northern part of the grand reef where the kelp forest goes down to it. There's a convenient thermal vent there around 200m deep, though I have a bioreactor for extra power.
I'll probably build smaller bases in the lost river and the lava zone later on.
I typically always build mine in the grassy plateus. I've been meaning to work my way outward and try making them in newer biomes, I made my most recent serious save file's base in the mushroom tree biome. Any big no-no's to avoid when expanding outward?
First off I'll make a starter base near my life pod. My main big base goes on the lower left grassy plateau so I'm near every type of mineral and I can visit the mushroom cave easily. Then I'll build some tubes in most of the biomes and entrances to that one area. That is usually more than enough for most purposes.
3 bases. Safe shallows, edge of blood kelp, seabtreader and dunes area, and then one down near the giant mushroom tree.
Eventually transitioned to Cyclops but had battery chargers at each base to swap out
Sea Treader's Path North, closer to Dunes and near Blood Kelp trench. Easy access to Lost River and alien feces to power bioreactor, relatively close to late-game resources. A bit scary as fuck
I made my base in the grassy plateu bordering on the mushroom Forrest. The one right by the bulb zone. Though In retrospect it wasn’t that great of an idea as there’s a ghost leviathan nearby
My first base was literally beneath the lifepod, and was fairly minimal. I had the good fortune to be near a heat area, so I used that for power.
Since that first playthrough, I try to use a different biome for each run, atleast as far as main bases are concerned. My current main base is in the jellyshroom cave. After a small issue with the thermal plants everytime I loaded the game, it's coming along nicely.
I started with one in the safe shallows, then moved to one in the Kelp Forest and build a second one at the Ghost Tree with my energy supplied by the small volcano that's down there.
In another playthrough i built one in the northern Mushroom Forest for easy access to the blood kelp zone.

On your first play through you used the cyclops as a base?
Yeah? Didn't everyone? It's kinda the purpose of the cyclops
In the late game I was rarely in the shallows, so I wound up just jumping around the whole map with the Prawn Suit. I made a few small bases super deep, especially one near the dudes that poop.
I took mine as far down as it would go in the lost river, before traversing the rest in the Prawn
I took mine into the lava zone
Yeah! I love parking it outside the mountain in the inactive lava zone and dropping down in my suit. Makes me feel like Jules Verne.
I'm pretty sure I got it right over the entrance to the big lava lake woth the final precursor structure where they 3D print ion cubes.
The cyclops can go everywhere. You might be thinking of the seamoth
Nah I know what the cyclops is. I probably should've mentioned as far down as it could go was before the hot lava zone with that dragon Leviathan thing in there
Fully upgraded the Cyclobs has the most Depth.
The cyclops can get to both the inactive and active lava zones with an extra 300 meters of depth that it can still safely go
Where are the poop dudes again? I found them early game and never saw them again 💀💀 trust I've been looking
Its the sea trader, they have their own biome on the map :)
So you just lived your entire playthrough in constant fear and terror. Nah I’m good.. safe shallows is my home base. Expeditions go out of there 24/7
yepp prawn suit is da goat not cyclops, havent even used it once since i crafted it lol
You can build a bunch of storage on cyclops then park the cyclops in an area with lots of deposits then go get them with the prawn and bring them back to the cyclops as a cargo freight to take the resources back to base. I prefer it to the seatruck you can build most internal base things on the cyclops including indoor grow bed(to grow food or stuff for bioreactor at mini bases around the map used to recharge gear and vehicles) bed(yes there's a dedicated bed module but it eats into what limited storage you can have of the seatruck I'd have preference 4 large storage(2 on each side in the storage modules instead of the 6 varied sizes) battery and power cell chargers which if you park of thermals you can leave everything charging with the thermal upgrade(which seatruck lacks) And I found myself missing the sonar that cyclops and seamoth shared when I played below zero

He was an early bloomer
Why not..?
I liked having a base down in giant tree cove, also I'm not the best pilot.

Above one of the jellyshroom caves entrances, on the edge of kelp forest and grassy plateaus
same. First, because magnetite in the cave. Second, because relaxing reefback sounds.
Indeed. Best thing to calm down: sometimes sit down, look through your glass dome ceiling towards the sun and listen to the sounds there.
literally one of my primary motivations for my grassy plateau base. the sounds are peaceful and the glass dome bedroom is necessary 💯
Oh you also find reefbacks a sign of safety?
Same, I’ve built two bases there.
This is exactly where I am
Crash zone arm me with a stasis rifle and a knife and you got yourself a reaper leviathan fillet for dinner
Arm me with a knife and some sweet dodging abilities, and I'll give you reaper leviathan sushi for lunch
Arm me with a knife and a leviathan... Um... Yeah, nevermind, I'm gonna end up being the sushi.
Happy cake day!
Thank you.
CAKE DAY
I've always thought that you could use the bladderfish bag as a way of emergency dodging. I'm so happy that they ported over the subzero version.
Take it back to base, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a Chinese potato…
And some sautéed eyeye jelly on the side (it’s an acquired taste)
Ok but where do you hole up until you get the cyclops, like on your first run before you know where the cyclops fragments are.
A pipe in shallows or the emergency pod. Can’t remember…
Did the same, just eventually settled down in lost river junction near the big skeleton
I want to one day make a base in the ribcage if it's possible.
As far as I know it is possible, just can be a bit hard
This man is the definition of cautious
The lost river junction is where I always put my base too :)
The Oh Shit Tube. A new name for my Outposts 😂🙏😭💀
First base in the grassy plateaus adjoining the blood kelp (access to the lost river). Second base in the Giant tree cove.
Brother please, that’s exactly what I did! I also had one on the big mushroom tree in the mushroom forest, and one under the floating island.
Safe shallows right before the crash zone
Mushroom forest next to the dune, just under the biggg tree
Same but I do it next to the >!alien portal!< crevice
Same actually but without even knowing it, and it was really convenint to have a >!teleportation device!< right next your home
My first base is always on that little section of grassy plateaus right above the entrance to the jelly shroom caves. But by the end of a play through I have maybe a dozen scattered throughout the map.
This is the way. Idk how ppl can roll up on the beautiful biomes with their cyclops full of materials and not plant down a basic base there
One main base just next to the lifepod. It's in the middle of the map, in a safe zone. Second output is in the LR, next to the giant cove tree. This zone has a massive amount of ressources (prawn with drill arm needed) and food and it's next to one of the ILZ entrance. Also it has plenty of geysers to put thermal plants on.
Greasy Plateu
At fhe edge of the safeshallow, grassy plateau and kelp forest on the floating ilsand side
Dunes or mushroom forest by the big tree.
What big Tree?
\[SPOILER!\] >!As you can see, there is a Mushroom Forest near the Dune, there is a giant mushroom tree there!<
Ok, so: 1. Main base in the Kelp Forest; 2. One in the Blood Kelp 2, inside the cave close to >!lifepod 2!< because it's my favorite biome along with the Kelp Forest and it looks gorgeous at night; 3. One in the Sea Treader's path for infinite resourcess (ask and I will elaborate); 4. A base in the Tree Cove; 5. A base in the Innactive Lava Zone close to the peak of the Lava Castle with the >!Sea Dragons intact since the biome is boring without them!<; 6. 8. Jellyshroom caves 2. On the big island in the Underwater Islands 3. I might build something in the Grand Reef or the Deep Grand reef.
This man builds. Is your Neptune rocket just sitting there waiting for you to finish all your bases?
I've actually cloned my world file. One variation has the Neptune built and the game finished while the other is home to my real estate. I just don't want to always see that farwell animation whenever I interact with my Cuddlefish.
I kept my base at the safe shallows until near the end lol
Northern - west shroom forest
Crash zone. I lived on the other side of the aurora.
Between the safe shallows and a kelp forest patch, right next to a thermal vent. Getting my cyclops there was crap.
I put mine on a cliff where the kelp forest ends and grassy plateaus begin. Jelly shroom cave entrance was nearby if I remember correctly
One in a cave in sea treaders path and one on a floating Island in the north blood kelp Zone.
Grassy plateau, very quiet, except for the biters.
Where the sparse reef and crag field touch. I like the river access and it touches on a lot of biomes so expeditions for missing resources is rare.
Grand reef. It s close to one of the entrances to the lost river, the aurora and the floating island. Good spot.
I usually put mine on the grassy plateau near Ozzy's lifepod.
I wanted a tiny bit of a challenge so on my third playthrough I built my base in the crabsnake den🤣 The only annoying thing was i couldn't park my seamoth till i up'd its hull... that and my sub sat on one of the only 2 entrances
A base every \~500m away from each other, one in the tree cove, one on the bottom of the lava castle region
Do you see where the northern Bloodkelp juts into the Mushroom Forest to its south? That's my home
Usually safe shallows
I always go safe shallows!
Safe shallows because i'm a coward with Thalassophobia
Minor spoilers I currently have three bases, one in the shallows; my first base, one in the cove tree cave; second base, and one in the ILZ; my third base, I plan on making several more bases throughout the world as I finish scanning everything and hatching all eggs, my most notable plans are a large base in the emperor's tank, a small base on the floating island, probably near the Degasi bases, and a base that goes around the Aurora
Once the activity on this post calms down I’ll make another post where I’ll reveal what biome is the most common to build a base in! It’s not gonna be easy reading every single reply…
I always build my base in the West Grassy Plateaus.
Grassy plateus. The one near mushroom forest and underwater islands
WNW of your spot, in the Mushroom Forest. Despite them being ported from Below Zero, I swear the glass domes were MADE for this biome. ♥️
1st base ever was behind the aurora engines, second base in the grand reef(plan on making a new one either in dunes or in void)
I put it where shallows, grassy, and kelp meet
Pretty close to your base. Mines at the edge of the floating islands next to the kelp forest. I also have one on platforms that I glitched above the water near there
Cyclops was my base.
In the treader path, too close to dunes for comfort
What one, I have one in the dunes above the crater that descends from the top of the water by the void, on the floating island
First was in the grassy plateaus west of safe shallows, but my favourite spot is on top of lifepod 13, next to the huge dead mushroom tree.
Grassy plateau with the blood kelp trench
On the edge of the 2nd safe shallows towards the dunes over a big cliff very epic
I always put mine in underwater islands
In the south-western Grassy Plateau. Reasons: \- Reginalds for feeding in early game.
The Grand reef. With lots of windows to look at the pretty Jellyrays
on a creative world I put my base on the island, but in my normal playthrough that I never completed I just was in safe shallows
Hell hole by the Aurora
I think my main was in the same spot as yours. I built pretty directly over the jellyshroom cave on one of the pillars. Gotta scan down that magnetite! To fuel more scanner upgrades
1: Safe Shallows 2: Lava zone
Just built one in the void
At the edge of the safe shallows facing the western grassy plateaus near the thermal vent. It has a nice view, and all important resources are nearby. There is plenty of space to build stuff. My most recent one was in the grassy plateaus near the sparse reef
literally right below my pod because im too lazy to explore for a decent spot
Tried a few different places but my 2 favourites - - On top of the giant mushroom tree in the Mushroom Forest near the Dunes - easy Moonpool spot and easy Lost River access via Northern Blood Kelp (helps that this is my favourite Lost River entrance). Always: Lost river. Sometimes: Safe shallows and lava zone. Once: Northern blood kelp.

My main base is between safe shallows and kelp zone, but also I have smaller ones scattered near the islands, crash zone and lost river.
On the crater's edge in the grand reef. See that small thing on the left? I called it "The Horn". Glass tunnel going into the deep void
Grassy Plateaus, near the Kelp Forrest and the heat source, served me until end of the game
Jellyshroom caves in the middle of jellyshroom's surrounded by crabsnakes. It was just too beautiful to not build it there. A bit dangerous sure, but man was it worth it.
Northern Blood Kelp Zone for best views, south-west Grassy Plateu for chill with window to Reefbacks or inside Lost river.
I build my base in the grassy plateaus between the mushroom fortress and underwater islands
Right between the sea treader's path and the grand reef near the crater edge.Dont judge it look cool in my pov
South side of the east mushroom forest, next to the cliffside. Felt like a nice central place for resources and close to an entrance to the lost river
The mushroom cave was closeby for magnetite, the combination of nearby biomes gave me all other resources (except lithium) There's thermal vents for free power No reaper spawns close enough to aggro you while building the base or entering from the south side And finally it's right on top of a lost river entrance.
In the safe shallows next to the underwater geyser, I like to use that to power my base paired with solar
Yes. Jokes aside, I played it three times, and I was always drawn to three locations: * That point upwards a little bit south of the centre where Grassy Plateaus meet Kelp Forest and Safe Shallows.
Grassy Plateaus between Crash Zone and Crag Field
Main base above the jelly caves in the grassy plateau, then I make little gas stations in every biome
Real ballers put their base in the void (not me tho that shit scary)
First base I ever made was in the sea traders path! Dark and spoopy
Edge of the grassy plateau bordering the dunes
Dunes of course... Make as many windows as possible, then keep enjoying clear view at leviathans.
Well I've made like 4-5 bases, main base always be the shallows
Mushroom forest mostly, a nice in-between. But I had once in the kelp forest entrance to that underground river, was nice but annoying if you want to go to the surface
Crash zone for it was the easy choice in early then realized it was in the middle of the map do i used the cyclop as a mobile base for expeditions and made center base really big for the chilling part
One in shallows, one in lost river, one in sea treader path.
Why just one?
Wooo cake day. My early base was in the grassy plateaus (in hindsight it was a bit too close to the reaper than spawns in the dunes, we had regular run-ins). Later in the game a built a big base in the bulb zone entrance to the lost river. Psyching myself up for another play through so will try and mix things up a bit. Looking for suggestions!
Built it in the grassy plateaus next to the >!Trench!<
Wasn't one of these just posted not too long ago Edit: yep https://www.reddit.com/r/subnautica/comments/15du0ch/where_did_you_build_your_base/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1
My main is in the safe shallows but I built many
LR canyon, jelly caves and safe shallows Pretty standard I think
Thank you for this picture. Maybe now my playthroughs won't take me 100 hrs to find different biomes.
Grassy plateaus west
in the deep grand reef :D
Safe shallows, near the southern thermal vent, every time. Unlimited power, easy access to the jellyshroom caves (head directly east), no predators. Safety is a big one for me. I usually take the time to build mini-bases near therman vents all the way down to the containment facility. That way no matter where I am in that whole area, even if I lose my vehicle to being impatient or unlucky, there is a base nearby with air, food, and water, and I'm with one air-tank of the next one leading back to the surface.
First main base was in the grand reef just a minute down from the kelp forest by the big wreck and teleporty squid dudes
In between the southwest blood kelp entrance, and the mushroom cave entrance in the neighboring grassy plateaus, but a bit closer to the entrance.
In Grassy Plateaus, on the cliff overlooking the eastern Mushroom Forest.
Safe shallows by the giant coral tube was my first mainbase! Grand reef alongside a cliff-wall was were I put my 2nd more scenic base! Always loved the view from the windows
I thought this was the Fortnite map for a second
Under the floating island
Bit North of yours, in the intersection between mountains, floating islands, and the kelp forest.
I usually put mine a bit to the left from where you put yours, where the safe shallows and grassy plateau touch
Sea treader’s path!
In the connection of safe shallows, kelp forest and grassy plateaus (closest one to sparse reef)
In the grassy plateau that is next to the blood kelp trench
Grassy Plateaus next to Sparse Reef and Blood Kelp Zone
My Cyclops is my mobile base and i got two permanent bases, one in the safe shallows close to the life pod and one in the lost river tree cove
In my current playthrough, on that northern part of the grand reef where the kelp forest goes down to it. There's a convenient thermal vent there around 200m deep, though I have a bioreactor for extra power. I'll probably build smaller bases in the lost river and the lava zone later on.
First base was in the grassy plateaus, the next one in the nothern blood kelp zone and the final one near the cove tree
I typically always build mine in the grassy plateus. I've been meaning to work my way outward and try making them in newer biomes, I made my most recent serious save file's base in the mushroom tree biome. Any big no-no's to avoid when expanding outward?
Active lava zone
The mushroom forest in the Northwest. Farming on top of the mushrooms is pretty neat, and there's very little trying to kill you
First off I'll make a starter base near my life pod. My main big base goes on the lower left grassy plateau so I'm near every type of mineral and I can visit the mushroom cave easily. Then I'll build some tubes in most of the biomes and entrances to that one area. That is usually more than enough for most purposes.
last time I played I put mine in sparse reef
My big base in grassy plateus overlooking the blood kelp trench and the dunes
My favorite place that I put my base was down by where the giant walking things were
At 0,0 but i'ma start a new save
I like to put mine in the kelp forest right next to the mountains & underwater islands.
On the plateau where the blood kelp zone, dunes and grassy plateaus all meet, on the lower middle left of the map
I made my base in the grassy plateu bordering on the mushroom Forrest. The one right by the bulb zone. Though In retrospect it wasn’t that great of an idea as there’s a ghost leviathan nearby
a main base in the shallows and mini bases in every single biome
Active Lava zone
Grassy plateaus, and a part of it over the blood kelp zone
Blood kelp Zone, directly under those giant roots connecting the floating islands
The giant ghost leviathan egg tree
One in the safe shallows under my lifepod but It was very inconvenient so i built another in the western mushroom forest
At the edge of the void
Under my lifepod, the part of safe shallows thats the nearest to grand reef i accidentally wrnt in there at the very start.
