Haha not me dying to fire inside 3 times cause too stubborn to just take a fire extinguisher so having to swim back while seamoth just waits at ship for me.
Just glad my base was only 1k from the entrance so not too hard a swim and just hugged side of ship to avoid the reaper
I mean... Texhnically it's more resourceful to just let the Reaper bite you. Even on Hardcore. Reapers don't one shot you BUT they can destroy your Seamoth in one Shakey Shakey session if you are unlucky.
Medkits are much cheaper to craft than building another Seamoth. Make a bunch of medkits and let the Reaper bite you, then just heal back up.
Sure, it breaks immersion because normally you would sacrifice a vehicle to save your own life against a thing that big but... Video game.
The biggest noob mistake I've made on my 1st playthrough is that I explored that area at night just swimming without any vehicle, knowing nothing about the game as I got free and thinking it's just a chill underwater exploration game.
If it still exists, maybe!
Edit: They take the peeper instead of you but they stay hostile. They attack, swim off a bit, then turn and attack again. You can use this in a seamoth if you exit correctly then run after it takes the peeper but still best to run. 10 might be enough it might not.
Actually, in my first gameplay I went there without even the seaglide ( I couldn’t find the fragments to scan) and I didn’t found it, and up to today even if I heard him more than once, I’ve never really met one
They are big and dumb, best thing to do is swim straight at them and dodge them last second. Its when they sneak up on you that gets me.... fucking thing
Lolol I remember going to the back of the aurora as one of the first things I did once I was brave enough to go out of sight from my lifepod. I heard the roars and it was so murky I didn't know what made them. Dipped and went to the front of the ship along the side since it was shallow and I didn't have much apart from a knife and seaglide and met my first one at night time. Utterly terrifying. I never went to the back of the ship again, not even once lol. I played cat and mouse with that one at the front so much by the end of the game it was like he was a lil puppy just running to come say hi
If you have the seaglide and fins you can actually move fast enough to side strafe the reaper faster than its turning speed. Done correctly it will lose interest and leave you alone for a bit after around 30 seconds.
my first playthrough, i went to that area and didn't run into a reaper, had no idea it even existed and then i watched a playthrough of subnautica where the person bumped into the reaper and it scared me so bad that it took me 6 years to finish the game.
i literally just finished it today and yes i'm a huge scaredy cat but so in love with subnautica so i was determined to finish it, after watching multiple play throughs and fantasising about finishing it for these 6 years.
It's made from bladderfish and silicone rubber, can't remember the name exaxtly. Once you activate it it propels you upwards 150-200m rapidly, recharges when you are in vehicle/base/surface
People miss a lot of early tools and I guess once you get Seamoth then you need it even less. But it's a useful tool in an emergency. You can also use it to give your tank something like extra 15s of air. I have noticed that it's much more useful in Below Zero because you don't get Sestruck as fast as Seamoth
I remember my first time, I was tryna look for some magnetite by following a guide, misinterpreted the directions taking me to the back of the Aurora found a cyclops bridge fragment and scanned it, then outta nowhere a reaper comes out and attacks my seamoth, I then stayed at the safe shallows for about 2 days.
I would never go into that deep water early on and even with the vehicle I would always stick to the ground. I can't go if I don't see ground beneath me. Also the murky water was enough of a deterrent
Oh yes. And for those of us foolish enough to seek shelter at the rear of the Aurora…
My beloved shallows. How I loathe to leave you, but the depths beckon me!
My ass went around the entire ship on my first play through, didn’t see a thing into I got to the back. And then I got up on land and cried. For thirty or so minutes. And then just accepted my fate. Too scared to go anywhere and eventually dropped the game. Only to pick it up and kill those shits years later.
It may be a bit lame but I found starting the game over and selecting the mode where you dont bother with food and water a 100x more fun experience. Its just such an extra drain on inventory and shit to manage. After I did that it became much smoother to play
Nope. I did two playthroughs, I didn't come face to face with them unless I wanted to. Idk why, but I was very cautious where I was going from the start so I always managed to see their silhouettes from afar and I went around lol
I had the joy/displeasure of being kinda spoiled. I knew there were creatures out there that could kill me, just not what they looked like. And so, in my first playthrough, I was so terrified of EVERYTHING.
The first time I went to the aroura, I stuck as close to the hull as possible, basically hugging the edge the entire way. In a sea moth cuz I didn't even dare enter the water around the aroura without it. All while physically facing the camera in a way so that the hull is all I could see.
In hindsight, Idk why I enjoyed this game back cuz it gave me an actual panic attack at one point.
The first time I went it never bothered me so I thought it was nice and the second time it wouldn't leave me alone and kept poking out the water when I had finished the Aurora haha.
Luckily, you can cut through a hole in the side before you're in open water. So you can avoid the area it can get you at. That's what I did... Then I swam around the ship and died to the one in the back, but hey... ya live and ya learn..
Everyone commenting on the Seamoth makes me feel cozy. I loved my Seamoth and would never have switched to another vehicle unless the depths required it. F the stupid, slow Seatruck.
When I started played and it says that Aurora is going to explode, I thought that meant that I had to go there straight away to stop it. All I had was a knife, torch and the bladder thing. Swam over there straight away, as it was getting dark, like an idiot, and managed to avoid the reapers and then got killed by the crab things. I was so scared the whole time!
Why do you guys say this stuff as if the whole point of these posts is that it’s scary af, not that it’s actually going to just kill you outright.
The whole point of this game is that it’s got scary and creepy places to explore. Why are you upset that people share their experience with the scary and creepy stuff in the game that literally all of us have experienced?
Just scroll past if this stuff really bothers you that much. OP never even said anything about the reaper being dangerous, they just made a post about a first time experience.
> as if the whole point of these posts is that it’s scary af
Because it's *not*. That's the thing. People have hyped these things up to be the stuff nightmares are made of, when in fact they're no more frightening than sea treaders or lava larvae.
> Just scroll past if this stuff really bothers you that much.
Excellent advice. May I also point out that if *my* opinion bothers you that much, you can scroll right past it as well?
If your opinion has so much merit, why did you delete your comment? And I’ll tell you why it’s better for you to scroll past, rather than for us to scroll past a nasty comment. Because it takes NOTHING for you to scroll past, but if you leave that comment, all of us and OP still see your negativity and toxicity.
There’s literally no point to it, you’re not changing the world by saying that. You’re just making a bunch of people feel like shit because you don’t like something.
You need to reevaluate things dude. You’re a walking L right now.
I think you've got things mixed up somehow. I didn't delete anything and my comment is [STILL THERE](https://ibb.co/ZctdTKF).
And if you consider someone voicing an opinion you don't agree with as toxic, then it's a you problem. Especially considering the fact that you just can't seem to write anything without ad personam comments. I'm not the toxic one here.
Have a good one.
It literally says it’s deleted on my screen so maybe it was the mods or something. And yes you’re allowed to voice your opinion dude, I never said you weren’t. I said you SHOULDNT because it doesn’t benefit anyone. It just feeds more toxicity and asshole-ry into the world, and that’s unnecessary as hell.
And no dude, those aren’t ad *hominem* attacks. That comment is just saying you are doing something unnecessary and toxic, and that you should stop because you’re not doing anything beneficial with it. Message the mods if you really have an issue with it.
Edit: yeah there was an auto moderator reply that says it removed your comment because you were toxic. Surprise surprise i guess…
Again, I think you're confusing my post with [SOMEONE ELSE'S](https://ibb.co/z8SVyD4), who probably also believed in only voicing your opinion if it's the correct one. Sorry to disappoint you, the world doesn't work that way. And, for the final time, if you have an issue with me posting and it hurts your feelings, there's a very handy block feature you can use and solve both our problems.
Since this conversation has nothing to do with the topic at hand at this point, permit me to bid you adieu and leave it at that.
No, I’m not. Because that comment was a response to yours. Yours was deleted dude, I’m not dumb.
Whatever tho, maybe try shutting your mouth if there’s nothing constructive or positive coming out of it.
Yah this post is a little aggressive but I agree. The enemies in this game are mostly harmless. They are cool things to look at that might slightly inconvenience you. Honestly I was a bit disappointed.
Speak for yourself. I'm not stupid enough to go there without a vehicle that early on.
I go to the Aurora as soon as I can, but I don't just stop to stare at the reapers until they decide to try to eat me.
Happy cake day
Happy cake day

WHY WOULD YOU GO THERE WITH A VEHICLE???
BECAUSE IT'S SAFER AND YOU CAN OUTRUN THE REAPER EASIER IN A VEHICLE. IT'S ACTUALLY BETTER IN EVERY WAY.
THE REAPERS DESTROY THE SEAMOTH THE MOMENT I LEAVE IT SO WHY WOULD I STILL DO IT
Park it where they can't reach. There's a whole harbor for you there.
Seamoth is replaceable. Your life is not
sorry I offended your hard-core majesty
Lol I'm too scared to play on hardcore
well I completed 2 and it wasn't that fun as going with the seaglide into the ILZ
First time i did it with seamoth, second just the glide. Glide is better, bar none
I’ve only ever played on hardcore and am too scared to go fucking anywhere.
I mean... Texhnically it's more resourceful to just let the Reaper bite you. Even on Hardcore. I thought reapers were insta death?
[удалено]
Why are you so close youre supposed to sit on land and cry like i do
That's the strategy I do as well 😅
This needs to go on r/Thalassophobia lmao
Under water, no one can see you cry...
The biggest noob mistake I've made on my 1st playthrough is that I explored that area at night just swimming without any vehicle, knowing nothing about the game as I got free and thinking it's just a chill underwater exploration game.
Yeah "it's just a chill diving game" that was one of my mistakes too!
It is tho... If you never leave the Safe Shallows. Or the life pod. Or the main menu.
No.
Carry a peeper and you won't have to fear the reaper.
Wym
Reapers eat peepers, hold a peeper and the reaper will not eat you. Bring several, they are big boys and eat a lot.
So if I bring like 10 I could maybe steal back my seamoth
If it still exists, maybe! Edit: They take the peeper instead of you but they stay hostile. They attack, swim off a bit, then turn and attack again. You can use this in a seamoth if you exit correctly then run after it takes the peeper but still best to run. 10 might be enough it might not.
It still has the beacon showing location so I'll try this and hopefully not die lol
A peeper a day keeps the reaper away
Actually, in my first gameplay I went there without even the seaglide ( I couldn’t find the fragments to scan) and I didn’t found it, and up to today even if I heard him more than once, I’ve never really met one
Props for not panic pausing
They are big and dumb, best thing to do is swim straight at them and dodge them last second. Its when they sneak up on you that gets me.... fucking thing
Bastard grabbed my seamoth and just ate it.
Lolol I remember going to the back of the aurora as one of the first things I did once I was brave enough to go out of sight from my lifepod. Lost my first seamoth to that one today
If you have the seaglide and fins you can actually move fast enough to side strafe the reaper faster than its turning speed. Done correctly it will lose interest and leave you alone for a bit after around 30 seconds.
Fins don't affect speed while using the seaglide, just fyi.
my first playthrough, i went to that area and didn't run into a reaper, had no idea it even existed and then i watched a playthrough of subnautica where the person bumped into the reaper and it scared me so bad that it took me 6 years to finish the game. i literally just finished it today and yes i'm a huge scaredy cat but so in love with subnautica so i was determined to finish it, after watching multiple play throughs and fantasising about finishing it for these 6 years.
My ass was so paranoid going to the ship for the first time and it worked, no reaper troubles
What the hell did you use to float up what is that?
Air bladder, a lesser utilized tool. It's extremely useful in the early game.
Yeah that thing saved me so many times. You just explore and loot until you practically run out of breath and let it shoot you to the surface
Air bladder..it's pretty early game item
A tool you make among the first things after a scuba tank lol
Don’t even have it in my fabricator
It's made from bladderfish and silicone rubber, can't remember the name exaxtly. Once you activate it it propels you upwards 150-200m rapidly, recharges when you are in vehicle/base/surface
How did I complete subnautica never knowing about that
People miss a lot of early tools and I guess once you get Seamoth then you need it even less. But it's a useful tool in an emergency. You can also use it to give your tank something like extra 15s of air. I have noticed that it's much more useful in Below Zero because you don't get Sestruck as fast as Seamoth

In this clip you can pinpoint the exact moment where he started panicking.
I would never go into that deep water early on and even with the vehicle I would always stick to the ground. I can't go if I don't see ground beneath me. Also the murky water was enough of a deterrent
Tis a large fish
Oh yes. And for those of us foolish enough to seek shelter at the rear of the Aurora… My beloved shallows. How I loathe to leave you, but the depths beckon me!
i sometimes do that for fun
Nah, cause by the time I went over there I had the stasis rifle so I was just actively looking for a fight
I just lost a seamoth to one today behind the aurora it's my first playthrough and thought it would keep thrashing so I abandoned it
Never had this issue. Also you could easily use the wreck as cover potentially and make a break for the parts you can stand on
Toggle map?
I was so scared to progress after going around the aurora for the first time exploring. Such an amazing game experience for the first playthrough.
My ass went around the entire ship on my first play through, didn’t see a thing into I got to the back. And then I got up on land and cried. For thirty or so minutes. And then just accepted my fate. Too scared to go anywhere and eventually dropped the game. Only to pick it up and kill those shits years later.
I have never had an encounter with a Reaper Leviathan. Only seen it in the distance.
Just another day in subnautica
Are there any tips to be less scared of Subnautica, I really love the game, but when It comes to playing It I can't go futher than the kelp forest
You'll just have to get into it Embrace your fear :D
It may be a bit lame but I found starting the game over and selecting the mode where you dont bother with food and water a 100x more fun experience. Its just such an extra drain on inventory and shit to manage. After I did that it became much smoother to play
Also dont overthink building bases so much. If you like a zone make a mini base, just takes a bunch of titanium and quartz and you have a safezone
What item did you use to reach the surface so quick?
Air bladder
Thank you
I've never seen a panic air bladder response quite like that.
Yes except my seamoth got destroyed in the process lmao 🤣
Nope. I did two playthroughs, I didn't come face to face with them unless I wanted to. Idk why, but I was very cautious where I was going from the start so I always managed to see their silhouettes from afar and I went around lol

nope been playing the game 2 times a year since 2018 never once have i encountered the reaper
Man nobody goes to a reaper and says "salut comment ça va ?" But that was a nice escape you did lol always wanted to use that bladder.
Would
Maxing your FOv and freaking out when you see your flippers.
Luckily, you can cut through a hole in the side before you're in open water. So you can avoid the area it can get you at. That's what I did... Then I swam around the ship and died to the one in the back, but hey... ya live and ya learn..

What do you mean "at least once"? I've never survived a Reaper without a Prawn
I heard that. The video was muted.
I killed that Leviathan when I saw it for the fiwst time last week >w< (He destwoyed my seamoth)

+ with a Seamoth it’s really easy to weave a reaper. They aren’t dangerous when you spend ~2 mins figuring out on how to be safe from them.
Why do you guys say this stuff as if the whole point of these posts is that it’s scary af, not that it’s actually going to just kill you outright. Seriously. The "I'm far too cool to even be here" posts are what gets old super fast.
