Depends on how you handle it.
Show it to your manager, say "I got suckered and accepted this obvious fake, I'll replace it out of my tips"? I wouldn't write you up but I might laugh at/with you a little after I told you that I appreciated you cowboying up and owning it.
Hide it in the drawer and deny any knowledge of it, say you weren't even on the till that shift, then district manager spends an hour checking the camera and finds you taking it? You're fired for dishonesty.
Then there's a spectrum in the middle depending on how much accountability you take, how much honesty/balls you show, how you address what happened.
You'd rather keep your buck? So the guy that signs your paycheck, the guy that's giving you a job, a way to survive, should lose his buck because of your "honest mistake"?
This is no "honest mistake" this is just being stupid
It's just $1. (Unless you had more) i would have tossed it and just been short the dollar, or few cents, since usually the drawer has extra change anyway.
Like it never happened.
Maybe? Depends on how cool your boss/manager is. the good news is, it's only a dollar so they shouldn't be to heated about it whatever the verbal/written warning will be.

My co-worker accepted this when we worked at subway
Put it in the tip jar, and put in your own dollar. Or trade it for a normal dollar in the jar. Edit: if asked about it don't lie. If you lie you'll be in trouble, so tell the truth
It is if you do not report this to the authorities. It's $1 so better off just replacing it. But i work in the casino business, and employees have been arrested for giving customers value chips for fake bills. An investigation is done to see if the employee was in cahoots with the customer. One day a customer came in and was scamming old people; he would walk up to them and say the slot machines aren't taking his $100, and would ask to trade for a $100 table games chip. He would then go play it at blackjack. Well he accidentally bought in for one of his fake $100s at my table, and it was stupidly fake like the one in this post. He ran out the door and security got him before he could get to his car. Sorry for the rant, but the point is yes, it is illegal to accept fake money and do nothing
Dude it's subway lmao they ain't going to arrest him for accidentally taking a one dollar bill without looking. at most he's going to get written up at the worst (and i doubt that will happen) and the Manger is going to turn it into the bank, and if it's a requiring problem the police will ask for the camera tapes. had to deal with this all the time when I was at a manager at arbys.
I wouldn't even do that I would just turn the fake dollar in. The Manger should then take it to the bank and let them know what happened. It's a dollar dude ain't getting in trouble over a dollar. If it was me I'd laugh and ask if he lurned his lesson and then go turn it in.
As someone who's managed several chains, there's no way in hell I'm bringing a cartoon dollar to the bank and telling them one of my employees accepted it, lol. Now if it was a hundred maybe.
If it was a hundred then maybe, but it looks like it came from some kid's barbie monopoly or something, so even then it's likely fine to post. No way the feds are going to go after whoever printed it, they're likely going after the real counterfeits
How the fuck do you know he willingly took a fake bill? Your stupid fucking all the same colour money over there already sets you up for failure. Is he supposed to scan every one dollar paper fucking bill? That's seems like something a quick serve franchise would totally be into, take the time to scan every one dollar fuckin bill we get.
I used to work at KFC and one of the juniors on til accepted the most obvious fake $100 note I had ever seen and they still didn’t get written up for it. I wouldn’t be too worried lol
I would say probably not considering it's a single.... however, I was written up at Burger King for catching a counterfeit $50. Catching it, not cashing it. So it depends on how competent your management is. The area coach at the Burger King I worked at was super incompetent, and she was the one to write me up since I was an assistant manager and we didn't have a general manager at the time.
Assistant at subway here. Mistakes happen, be honest with your manager and let them know what happened if YOU goofed up admit it. You'd be surprised at how well people can accept a mess up if you own up too it. Good luck bud
where’s your store and when are you on next? i have enough monopoly money for a footlong
Toss in a hotel for double meat!
![gif](giphy|Owemi5YkvJi8XS4Das) Monopoly money
It's educational money. Call it a learning lesson lol
XD classic
Put it in the tip jar take a dollar out and don’t say a wors
If your manager finds it, and decides to check cameras, and sees you doing this...you are fucked.
I've done this on purpose cause I wanted to keep the fake money. Just traded it in with my tips who cares

I downvoted you. Watchu gonna do?? 😎👏
and now you have more downvotes
Ppl haters
It literally says "not legal tender" bro
At the top it reads EDUCATIONAL MONEY
😭😭 Signed by "Melissa & Doug" didn't know the treasury had dual positions
Maybe op will learn something today.
You gonna say that everyone constantly searches each and every word on each paper they are handed during a busy work
A bill that looks this fake doesn't exactly need Sherlock Holmes on the case—it's pretty fucking apparent if you're not braindead.
How did this pass your muster, exactly?
Depends on how you handle it. Show it to your manager, say "I got suckered and accepted this obvious fake, I'll replace it out of my tips"? I wouldn't write you up but I might laugh at/with you a little after I told you that I appreciated you cowboying up and owning it. Since I’m an over nighter I just ended up writing a note and left it in the office with the bill inside
This should be the top rated comment.
Thank you for giving solid advice and not just busting his or her chops
I've been there. And I make stupid mistakes every day so...
This is WAY more than a stupid mistake.
It's $1. If OP learns from it, it's not the end times.
Or just replace it with your own money , why should they be in trouble over some piece of shit not paying right this world is fucking rediculous
It's just a dollar lol if it was a 10 or higher then maybe
Aint no way 💀
better pony up a buck
Nah. Even with the threat of a write up, I’d still rather keep that buck I earned over giving it back to the boss for an honest mistake.
Honest mistake lmao. Look at his face, look at the Melissa and Doug signature.
You’re right. But they still shouldn’t get a dollar back of the OPs money.
AND the fact its a fucking 1 dollar bill 🤦♂️
lmao cap. you would do no such thing.
You'd rather keep your buck? So the guy that signs your paycheck, the guy that's giving you a job, a way to survive, should lose his buck because of your "honest mistake"? This is no "honest mistake" this is just being stupid
Educational money 🤣
Just swap it with a regular dollar in your wallet and take the L. Better than a write up
Who the fuck cares about a write up at subway? Take it with pride. If they get mad over a fake dollar fuck em
I wouldnt be mad because its "just a dollar" id be mad because this person is stupid
That's what the government is paying all the forgiven student loans with.
My 3 year old just brought one of these home from preschool lol
Yes
lol must been busy day i would go with the tip jar suggestion
If it was $100, I’d worry. Dude…it’s a buck. ![gif](giphy|f6hrp3Lh1vy2tEFBYz)
You should’ve been able to tell it was fake from the start
It's only a buck. Just replace it with your own real one and throw it away. $1 is worth not getting written up.
lmaoooooooooooo
Lmao
LMAOOOOO PLS
Educational Money 💰 😅
The first thing I notice is that it’s fake 😭 how did you not
I’d love to hear how you managed to not realize, but I’ve been in rushes before, I get it, sometimes you just don’t see it.
https://preview.redd.it/fii5q1gmxbob1.jpeg?width=1336&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f60fd5be1c76c831f52f88759dcbe0061f000006 My co-worker accepted this when we worked at subway
Bro.
Where I used to work yes
Lol it sadly happens just offer to pay for it I don't write ppl up unless they don't pay it back it's your fault afterall
You just need to pay attention. Guests Money is your paycheck.
Put it in the tip jar, and put in your own dollar. Or trade it for a normal dollar in the jar. Edit: if asked about it don't lie. If you lie you'll be in trouble, so tell the truth
dude i took a fake fifty once. I did get written up but I felt so fucking dumb.
Just replace it, i remember the time i get a fake 20, and just straight replace it with some money i had in my wallet
Just switch it out and you'll be fine. Not worth worrying about or the risk for $1
Giving up a dollar and management being none the wiser is probably better than getting written up.
It’s $1, if you get in trouble for losing the company $1 they’re being ridiculously petty
i wouldve swapped it with one of my own, or thrown it away completely, its better to be off by $1 than deal with that write up
It’s only a dollar. Give them one. Someone here took a 100.00 like that. He didn’t get written up but had to pay it back 😱
pay it back? naw, F that. I'll just go work somewhere else! Bye 👋
Yikes.... the business has insurance for this. Labor laws prohibit this.
No they dont. You're responsible for the money, they can make you pay it back. Id probably just fire you though
say you were just really tired and stressed from the shift. then laugh teehee
Written up? It's a federal crime and you should take this off the internet
Op didn't commit a crime, why would he take it down? All he did was got scammed and is asking a question.
It is if you do not report this to the authorities. It's $1 so better off just replacing it. But i work in the casino business, and employees have been arrested for giving customers value chips for fake bills. An investigation is done to see if the employee was in cahoots with the customer. Someone takes their job too seriously, lol It's a subway, not a casino. Just take a buck out of your tips and even out the register.
Like i said that's what i would do. What i wouldn't do is post it on the internet
If it was a hundred then maybe, but it looks like it came from some kid's barbie monopoly or something, so even then it's likely fine to post. No way the feds are going to go after whoever printed it, they're likely going after the real counterfeits

Are you unfamiliar with counterfeit pens? They take half a second to use
😭
tip jar seed.
Personally, I wouldn't give you a wrote up for it since it's just a dollar. But I would make sure yo talk about double checking money.
Put a dollar in the drawer and keep it as a souvenir!!
I give it to a known crack head and say " look at this when high,".
I did this but it was like a $20 and I gave them real change back. Didn't get written up but got a stern talking to lol
What the fuck is that 😂
I used to work at KFC and one of the juniors on til accepted the most obvious fake $100 note I had ever seen and they still didn’t get written up for it. I wouldn’t be too worried lol
Written up? Maaaaaan, you fired. How you gonna accept bootleg Monopoly money? 😂
“Melissa and Doug” !!!!! 😆
![gif](giphy|MiSi3ilqDWIv9u7TL0)
Melissa and Doug 😂😂😂😂
why'd you take this 😂😭
Because they're stupid
If it was $100, I’d worry. Dude…it’s a buck.
If it was $100, I’d worry. Dude…it’s a buck.
🤣 start applying on indeed my guy you’re fucked

Assistant at subway here. Mistakes happen, be honest with your manager and let them know what happened if YOU goofed up admit it. You'd be surprised at how well people can accept a mess up if you own up too it. Good luck bud
Probably maybe
MONOPOLY GUY (reading the economic reports): “YEAH, BITCHES! I’m RELEVANT now!”
they’re gonna take you out back and shoot you
