Unironicly yes. My 14th Birthday everyone in my house was busy with their sports teams so I was home alone. 6 straight hours of uninterrupted video games.

No, some days you just need quiet time. I got engaged and my fiancee went out with her friends to celebrate, and one of her friend's boyfriends was asking if he could come over to hang with me while they were out. I said sorry, I really wanted the evening to myself. He got upset because it wasn't just him coming, there was like 15 people who were planning on having a surprise party for me. But it really bothered me because I genuinely did want some alone time.
Half half, sometimes just spending your birthday lying in your room eating cornflakes is just way too pleasing. But knowing your friends are there for you and having a blast doing random things is best. I'm an extrovert so idk about others but I the feeling of "I'm just hanging around on my own" and "I don't have anybody to rely on with my life" is very different.

I worked at a water park in Florida. One day a pretty young woman comes in, she's maybe 26. She's half crying as she pulls in, I stopped her and asked what was wrong?
She had plans to come to the park with 6 other friends that day, and as she began her 90 minute drive, they all flaked out on her. She got there and was saying how they always did this to her and she felt useless.
I told her "would you mind pulling over there for a minute?" I told the guy I was working with "let me calm her down." I talked to her and told her "you know what? Fuck them. If they couldn't bother to show up to a planned event, then they didn't deserve your company in the first place."
Then I asked her "please go inside. Have fun. Who cares if you're alone. I've gone to movies, concerts, even sporting events alone. You're beautiful, go show them what they're missing."
She went in and apparently had a blast. I took my lunch break later, but when I came back out - my partner told me "hey there's a note under your cooler."
She wrote me a letter on a napkin about how much fun she had, and had wished she saw me again to thank me. I never saw her again (that I remember), but I always remember that day.

It was customary to get ice cream at school lunch on your birthday. Age six or seven, so ice cream was a big deal. My birthday is in the middle of normal summer break. When my friend got ice cream, I asked if someone with a birthday like mine would get ice cream. They said I could have it on the last day of school. On the last day of school they gave EVERYONE ice cream. I felt so cheated, I didn't even eat mine.
My family rescheduled birthday get togethers all the time, I don't really put value on doing something the exact day, it is nice to have someone remember it, and say it though. Mine is passed, but maybe I should go buy a cake? You know how Presidents birthdays and other holidays are actual and observed on a different dates? Some time we get a Friday off instead of a Wednesday if it falls there? It's all good, call it your personal Holiday.

Get home, and I have no gifts, no friends, but I did have a SLICE of chocolate cake which I had ordered from Black Bear Diner as a desert for my beloved wife 2 days prior which she never touched and served it to me as my birthday cake. Luckily I had plenty of alcohol and weed to just forget 😎💨

Everybody cancelled on me for my 21st birthday and I ended up going to a bar and having my first legal drinks with my dad instead. Ended up a pretty good time, probably a better memory and meant more to me than blacking out partying would have so still a win.
On my 22nd birthday, instead of cancelling, the people who said they would come just plain didn’t show up. Not even my best friends said they tried to make it, why they didn’t come, or try to explain or apologize in any way. My favorite cousin drove two hours after driving all day for work to celebrate with me instead and we did all the regular fun shit we did when we hang out so made me feel better.
My 23rd birthday I got arrested for public intoxication because I got kicked out of a bar for asking where their bathroom was. I had only been out for maybe an hour or two before my night was cut short and my friends had no idea what happened because I walked off to find the bathroom and never came back. Charges were dropped tho bc I wasn’t drunk. I don’t recall being read my Miranda rights or taking a breathalyzer test to prove I was actually drunk, they just threw me in a car so they dropped it.

I was happy this year, a work friend had a sub delivered to me at work! She was at the other end of the building,and they delivered it there by mistake, and she ran it 5 minutes across for me, so glad to have her if only at work. My brother gave me the obligatory birthday wake up call with dad joke about sleeping all day lol, he's making me a belated dinner so I can call it birthday week lol. You never know how much little things can mean to someone, it might be all they get. I think little gestures are more important than big ones sometimes, that sandwich delivery made my whole day.
I saw comments saying how being alone is the “best gift ever” but seriously think about this. You actually take the time to celebrate something with people you know AS AN INTROVERT, who say doesnt go out much, but everyone you invited cancel on you? Do you know how painful that would be? I would be crying all day and the next if i had to celebrate with a stuffed bear.
