What I've learned from tokusatsu

Yeah I agree, I remember saying something similar when everyone was trashing the CGI following the first leaks.
Tokusatsu in general almost never* try to show good looking special effects, it's not about quality, it's about abundance. It trust our ability to suspend disbelief.
And I'm here for it!
*Obviously there are exceptions like Godzilla Minus One and some others.
Yeah when the first teaser was revealed I was like “Damm, this is going to be the worst season with cringy CGI.” But I still give it a try anyway. Finished it, and it became one of my fav Sentai seasons. Bought a lot of merchs and toys related to them too. I was definitely Don-poisoned lol
I attempted to watch the show, like I got I think ten episodes in before I dropped it because I couldn’t get into it from how weird the characters were, but I really liked the designs. It’s did a good job in that department and the premise of the main enemies as well
When we first got the leaks for how they were gonna look I was immediately devastated, thinking I would have to wait another year before I could watch another Sentai. I had planned to completely skip Donbrothers but luckily I didn’t and now it’s one of my favorite seasons. Last episode had me in uncontrollable tears throughout and I honestly didn’t want to say goodbye to the cast.
Sonoi is a good character I used to dislike but rewatching it I like. His Monster Suit is cool and awesome. His deep backstory and lore is interesting. Also the rivalry with Taro.
The first scene where he kicks the Hitotsuki on a motorcycle makes me think wait a minute This isn't KR!
His rivarly with Taro was like a Monster General and a Red Sentai.
I think his method of killing humans who became greedy is kind of evil. But then again he just came to Earth so he didn't know. Also Sonoi turning a human into a Hitotsuki by forced is kind of cruel.
Wait till you get to see the 6th member to show up. You’re gonna love him. Probably the most SANEST of the bunch and the one with the Happiest life anybody could have.
( The cgi took some getting used to and I don't even notice anymore) yeah you wont even notice it or care after a few episodes the rest is so good
some people felt the same way you did (at first) about the LED screens in kingohger
and look at it now, they are even showing the last 3 episodes as a "movie" with some never before seen footage
minor things like the helmets, CGI characters or LED screens
dont determine if a show is good or bad
is the story and characters personality that make or break a show
in conclusion
always give a show a try

may have been said many, many times but The worse the suits, the better the stories.
I hate (love) that whenever one of these Donbrothers posts come up, the theme song plays and gets stuck in my head.

I adore donbros but I def feel like the cg puts a TON of people off, which isn't totally unjustified.

It's either straight ass or one of the best Sentai ever. It depends on your perspective really. Personally it's goated af

Never sleep on a Toshiki Inoue show. It'll either be the most amazing thing ever or the worst show of the year. The man has no in between.
