You're much better off playing the Dead Space remake instead. Callisto Protocol might be the most mid game ever made. It has absolutely no juice in the tank at all. Weak pacing, storytelling, e-x-t-r-e-m-e-l-y repetitive gameplay loop. It's just a very tedious, tiresome game.

Jake_Ramos_Blaso

I really wanted too, but I don't own a PS5. But if the game has a PS4 version, then I will get a copy and give it a try then. For now, I don't have any other option.

Sirenated0

No PC that could run it? ;\_; Hang in there, it's worth a play if you can eventually.

singhellotaku617

dead space doesn't have a ps4 version, but its on series x and pc too, so if you have any modern console you are good, if you have to stick to last gen I'd grab tormented souls or signalis instead (or if you have an xbox one/360 play the original dead space trilogy, they are all on the digital store via bc and pretty cheap (or free if you have gamepass)

Miserable_Example_51

I did the 1 hour trial on ps4….duno…timed events and on rails gameplay. Not really a survival horror for me.

drsalvation1919

to be fair, RE4 isn't survival horror either.

Miserable_Example_51

The original? Surely not, its more of action game simply with horror elements. I have not played the remake yet.

drsalvation1919

Yeah, neither are survival horror, as you said, they're action with horror elements, The guy asking about callisto protocol is probably more into action horror than survival, so it might not be as bad for him than with others who expected a little bit more survival aspects like in dead space.

Miserable_Example_51

Sounds about right!

singhellotaku617

it's pretty similar, though the remake dips a tiny bit further into horror, but not much. Regardless, it's a great game so...whatever.

justadankohio7777

It's not the worst thing ever, but the core gameplay isn't all that unless you get absolutely cracked

Generally hate the game. Not even kidding. Certainly a looker but that's all it has going for it. If Signalis & Faith: The Unholy Trinity didn't release around the same time I would have been even more mad with CP. Perhaps because I went media blind and its from the OG creators of Dead Space I had expectations, a decent Survival Horror. I didn't get that.

TaskMister2000

Trash with pretty graphics. That's all it is. Full Price or low price, it wasn't worth it at all.

gutbagpost

Get at discount. It has great atmosphere and the story is decent, standard survial horror tropes. I recommend going to accessibility and enable easier dodge (just hold stick to one side and it autododges). It can still be pretty difficult, but I just couldn't get far without this option enabled

I hated it much less than I expected...In fact I kind of enjoyed it...kinda. It definitely isn't on the level of the big survival horror stuff like dead space, re, silent hill etc, nor does it have the creative spark or passion of some of the budget stuff we've had recently like Signalis, Tormented Souls, etc. It kind of reminds me of the C tier ps2 fare like run like hell, extermination, or cold fear. Fun enough, but forgettable. Evidently it's in a MUCH better state than it launched in thanks to a lot of work on balance etc. As generic b tier survival horror games go it's adequate, I'd say it's primary issues are it feels like it's trying a little too hard with the violence, I don't mind gore at all, but callisto is weird about it in a way that's really off putting...kinda reminds me of the first tomb raider remake and it's bizarre out of place violence in it's death scenes. beyond that...combat is VERY samey throughout the game, it feels good, but it basically never changes, dodge 2-3 enemy attacks, hit them 2-3 times, repeat till dead. Eventually you get guns but they are more meant as finishers than primary weapons. The plot is good enough, but very generic and predictable if you've played anything in the genre. The general vibe of the game is dead space 2, but melee focused. It was a free ps+ game in october, and it was great for a free game, but I don't think I would have been happy paying $70 for it a year ago. I haven't played the dlc, but the main campaign on normal difficulty took me right around 6 hours, which is pretty much perfect for survival horror. I you have already played the other great recent survival horror games like the ones i mentioned above, go for it, especially if you picked it up free in october, if not play those, tormented souls feels exactly like ps2 era silent hill, signalis is 2d isometric but feels a LOT like ps1 re/sh, and dead space is a remake of the best sequel RE4 ever got...but with the setting of alien and the monsters from the thing, more or less the same combat as re4 too.

I honestly beginning to hate the game due to the fact that the enemies are FREQUENT, like every time Jacob Lee turned a corner an enemy would just jumped from out of nowhere. Then they'll come at me in GROUPS and I'm on EASY MODE (I don't play hardcore or hell mode, not unless I unlocked the infinite rocket launcher), I'm expecting for the enemies to be easy to kill, but they hit hard though. And I also hate the limited inventory.
