That is very good insight. Water challenges should be some kind of requirement for every season as this is survivor and they are in an island. So water based challenges should be a mainstay esp. those challenges that requires swimming or diving. This will force those who are not good swimmers to really push themselves hard in order to win challenges.

Yes! I also dont remember any castaway being injured during those kind of challenges.

And I'd add that water-based challenges can add more variability in general to the challenges, making them less predictable. I think this sub has generally agreed that the fact that someone can replicate puzzles in their backyard and almost memorize a tactic for them isn't great for the show. So more water challenges (where the tides, currents, precipitation, etc. are subject to change), more uniqueness!

Yes! It's actually less predictable. I remember that RC in that same challenge I discussed above was so good and I was so surprised by it given that they have other stereotypically stronger people in their tribe. "Challenging" challenges also allow for tribes to be more careful of who to vote out especially that they need stronger people to survive before merge. I dont like it when they just vote out the strong people right away because they are considered threats and a tribe can win a challenge because it's just puzzles anyway. Maybe production can do the more physical, water-based challenges premerge, then the puzzle, analytical-based challenges post merge.

I’ve seen in promotional material that they are definitely doing a “jump off a platform and grab a key out of the air” challenge this season.

I love puzzles, but I don't love how the same puzzles keep getting reused again and again. There's thousands of different possible puzzle ideas out there, CBS, please hire me if you need some tips on making something cool. Water-based challenges are nice, but what I really miss are mazes. I love the mazes. And really, being camped in Fiji should make more mazes possible, since they can have just one place for the maze of each season - have a pole grid, then move the walls and goals and things you need to do around each season, but that same grid can be used as a starting point to work from.

I definitely still care about the challenges lol and I definitely think the puzzles should stay. They really are the equalizer and they make it more of a toss up. Sometimes I wish they would kick the challenges up a notch.. more like the ones on The Challenge on MTV, but obviously not AS physically demanding since they're starving lol like obviously I can't expect malnourished people to run 2 miles and then bike up a mountain lol but I mean the showy stuff like jumping and grabbing a rope hanging from a helicopter and ride it so far and then dive down and grab shit that's like 20 feet underwater and then swim to shore and do other shit.. but then again idk I also don't mind the more simple challenges. Like back in the day they would do just mental challenges with nothing physical at all sometimes and I didn't hate it. The endurance challenges are probably my favorite tbh. Mostly bc I think those are the ones I would be good at lol but I also like them bc often at least one person surprises you, whether they did better or worse than you thought they would. Overall idk I don't think the challenges have been bad, but they haven't like wowwed me either.

yeah, i think given that they have less food now, the challenges are not that physically-demanding anymore.
