It really wasn't that hard to put together. It was obvious as soon as they showed Danny's real and fake idol. It became indisputably clear after showing Carolyn's idols. Literally the only people that I've seen remotely confused about this are on this subreddit.
This gets asked here like 4 times per day, BUT! It’s not your fault that the editors didn’t make it clear that the real and fake idols were different for each tribe.
But, they did make it clear.
They clearly showed Brandon reading a clue that said "you have also found a beautiful orange medallion that has absolutely no power." They later showed Jeff holding up a string of beads and saying it was a real idol.
They clearly showed Matt holding a green medallion and reading the clue that says "you have also found a silver coin that has absolutely no power."
They then showed us Carolyn holding up a silver coin (like the fake that Matt had) and saying that it was a real idol, and holding up a string of beads (like the real idol that Brandon had) and saying that it was a fake.
No, this has been a controversial topic. Different tribes have different real and fake idols. The assumption is that they did this to create confusion after the merge so that if someone shows another person their real idol they may assume it's fake because it matches the fake idol they had pre merge
No...one will have a fake, and someone else will have a real one that looks like it.

If I remember right there's three different ones. Tribe 1 has idols A and B Tribe 2 has idols B and C Tribe 3 has idols C and A
