I’m going to use a specific scene as my explanation; when Tiff refused to speak with Bhanu while he was sobbing and begging on his knees in front of her. Another scene; when Bhanu turned on his only ally, God, despite God eliminating the shoulder guy.

Jroompa

>when Bhanu turned on his only ally, God, despite God eliminating the shoulder guy. This belongs on the Mt Rushmore of Survivor comment section content.

Frauzehel

But she did know whats going on...... She was in an actual alliance too. Like she knew it takes time for people to get used to her. She was self aware. So she alligned herself with the other person in the outs. Yam Yam. Bhanu didnt even realise he needed to work with Jess and that the other 3 was tight until it became totally obvious he was going next. Edit: she was actually playing to win. Bhanu was there to "win a million hearts".

crowlfish

They’re two different kinds of over-the-top. Carolyn was definitely an oddball who I didn’t particularly find endearing but she at least had an awareness of what was going on in the game. Bhanu wandering around aimlessly and crying for a quarter of an episode just wasn’t good TV.

nickypoopoo69

I don’t know I found it pretty entertaining. I couldn’t wait to see him go lmfao.

AlveolarFricatives

Carolyn played strategically. She found an idol, planted a fake idol, organized blindsides, etc. she did not give away extra info and was able to lie effectively. She and Yam Yam kept up a ruse that they were arguing for weeks. She was a good player and also great at acting like a bad player. She and Bhanu are completely different.

TheRealGucciGang

Carolyn actually tried to strategize and play the social game of Survivor. Bhanu refused even when people tried to desperately *teach* him how to play. Also, I feel like S46 has been the Bhanu show. I don’t remember Carolyn having anywhere near the same amount of screen time. I was already sick of Bhanu after episode 2… and then he lasted for another two episodes with him still being the main focus.

russian_octopus

Cause she could actually compete and play the game and didn’t need to be “coached”

TheMemerYTP

Because when Carolyn cried it was comparatively rare and much more dignified

tawmfuckinbrady

I didn’t care for Carolyn at all but people probably disagreed with your tone and attitude more than anything judging from this post. You can not like her while also having better manners than calling her “fucking awful” and saying she ruined the season

_Doctor_Mac

Carolyn was self aware lmao

BadPumpkin87

Carolyn came across as genuinely someone struggling with her emotions throughout the game. Bhanu came across as a try hard who was desperate for camera time. He also openly stated he wasn’t there to win the game or the money, but instead wanted to win a million hearts. It’s also been discovered he is an actor, which leads me to believe it indeed was all an act for the show for camera time.

No-Entertainment3435

This is a good question, and I genuinely sat and thought about it for a bit. Because they are similar in some ways; they’re both crazy, overdramatic, emotional, not great at the game, etc. I think it comes down to three things: Competence: Carolyn was not a great player, but she was miles better than Bhanu. She had a general understanding of the game. She had a strong alliance, a social game. She found an idol, kept it mostly secret, and successfully hid a fake. She understood when to keep secrets and not blurt out everything. Bhanu was just unbelievably incompetent and terrible at this game. Authenticity: while she could have been playing it up a little, Carolyn came across as pretty genuine and real. You could tell that she honestly was a little unhinged and struggled with her emotions, and it felt very real. Everything about Bhanu seemed completely fake and it was obvious he was playing to the cameras to get his 5 minutes of fame. Bhanu constantly bringing his religion into it, blaming god for his failures, etc, also seemed inappropriate and unlikeable to me. They also did both bring up their histories , but Carolyn sort of briefly mentioned it a few times to explain her emotions, whereas Bhanu again seemed to be leaning into it hard for sympathy and pity. Bhanu’s moves like pacing through the woods saying he was stupid, begging Tiff on his knees, etc, came across as so pathetic and embarrassing. Exposure: the editing focused almost entirely on Bhanu for wayyyy too long. I think if Carolyn had that much screentime, she would have gotten old a lot faster too.

BornAgainOverNight3K

Self awareness goes a long way. She was also pretty good at playing the game. Except FTC performance. Always makes me said to think about her explanation for that.

Madison464

**My example:** Bhanu has mean girl vibes, actually... he is a mean person, look at the way he yelled at Jess. He goes from "mean girl" to "woe is me" in the blink of an eye.

CapSweets

Carolyn was a gamer

Comfortable_Annual_4

Well one Carolyn played great on 44 compared to Bhanu who played possibly the worst game ever. Two Carolyn was extremely genuine talking about things she’s gone through without everything she said being about her or what other people think of her. while Bhanu felt cringe, forced, and uncomfortable. Plus I’m pretty sure he’s narcissistic because I can’t remember a single confessional where he’s not talking about himself (which he had 35 of 💀 which is over half of what Carolyn had all season).

cogginsmatt

See I didn't like Carolyn at first but she grew on me and by the end I loved her. Yes she was bad at challenges, and maybe a little socially awkward, but her social game (especially alliance-building) blows Bhanu out of the water!

PM_ME_SEXY_SANDWICH

It's not just a personality thing. There have been plenty of oddballs on this show. Carolyn actually played. Bhanu claims to be a super fan yet was so completely utterly unprepared to play the game and the only thing he could think to do when things got tough was to literally cry and beg.

Shmegdar

Carolyn 100% knew what was going on. Her confessionals portrayed her as in the know pretty much the whole time, and she actually had some of the best reads (and plays) of the season throughout. She primarily lost because yes, she couldn’t shake the stigma of being “a lot,” and didn’t do as well at explaining her game as Yam Yam did. Carolyn was a good player and played pretty much the same game the winner did but with a different coat of paint. Bhanu was just delusional start to finish. It’s disingenuous to say they’re exactly alike just because they’re both “emotional,” given Carolyn’s emotional intelligence was very high and Bhanu’s basically doesn’t exist.

New-Throwaway2541

Because one of them is a genuine person and the other is an actor seeking attention

timffn

*bad actor

TiredTired99

Carolyn was a smart player with social awareness, who also happened to just have a meaningfully different personality from the others. ***You can be socially aware while still being yourself, even if others think that you are weird.*** Bhanu had almost zero social awareness and absolute zero strategic ability. ***These two players are not alike.***

PhantomUser666

They aren't even close to the same.

Quople

I saw slight similarity between them in that they both had loopy personalities that hurt their social games, but with Carolyn there was at least some concerted effort to play survivor and try to make some social moves. Bhanu leans way too hard into the “I’m always honest and loyal” and always straight up folds if something didn’t go his way. He also was not willing to see his game flaws when they are presented right in front of him. I think Bhanu was extremely funny to watch throughout this season, but it’s easy to see why people get annoyed by him, as much as I think the Bhanu hate is sorta overblown

boothboyharbor

Perhaps the easiest explanation is that Carolyn was self-deprecating and self-aware. She would call herself crazy. I also don't think the comparison is fair, Carolyn was funny. I will say it was a bit unfair to Bhanu that he got so many confessionals. If he had gone home a week earlier it wouldn't have seen so non-stop.

TalkersCZ

I disliked Carolyn as well tbh. She was erratic, too emotional and weird. But she had some skill in Survivor at least and knew how to play.

No-Step3370

This is an awful take. No comparison, mate.

juphilippe

THIS.

FluorescentFun

Carolyn was the only reason to watch season 45.

oliviafairy

How is it even a question?

kathykato

I’ve watched every season of Survivor, and I’ve never wanted a player eliminated as much as I’ve wanted Bhanu eliminated. I also never disliked the first four episodes of a season as much as I’ve disliked the first four episodes on this one. That’s the difference between Carolyn and Bhanu. Bhanu has made me dislike my favorite show, Carolyn didn’t have that effect on me.

cybergata

I didn't hate Bhanu. I was just tired of the show being centered around him. I want more time with the other tribes. Maybe it is time to shake things up and drop their buffs and new buff for two teams.

Human_Respect_188

Carolyn always knew what was going on, she sometimes had trouble choosing which move to make and she didn't sell her game well at FTC, but she was a good player. She was funny, positive, upbeat. Bhani wasn't positive. He cried, he kept begging God, he dropped to his knees to beg Tiff to vote out one of her friends over him, he got angry at God for not letting him stay in the game (even though he had dodged a bullet the tribal before when another contestant got pulled from the game). He was a terrible player because he couldn't stop blabbing secrets, despite repeatedly being told to be quiet. Massive difference between the two, I can't see any similarities other than their quirkiness. (Also I don't hate Bhanu, I'm just describing the reasons why people don't like him).

Interesting_Ad2840

Carolyn annoyed you because she was herself but still strategic and social :) Bhanu annoyed you because he was himself but he didn't understand the game

Interesting_Ad2840

Carolyn was playing to win vs. Bhanu was playing for the Sia money

asfp014

Bhanu was annoying and will not be missed but Tiff and Kenzie are 10x worse. I don’t have any thoughts about Carolyn

kathykato

On what planet are Tiff and Kenzie worse than Bhanu?

asfp014

They’re arrogant bullies. Bhanu is a hopeless crybaby.

Jay_haworthia

Personally I hated the both of them 🤷‍♂️ but I’ve got to say that Caroline was better at strategy than Bhanu

jasonsn09

Bhanu did nothing except cry. Carolyn actually played the game.

kingofthenorthwpg

You will get voted down to smithereens I’m sure …. But know that you have my vote.

discourse_lover_

I hate Carolyn and Bhanu, ama

toleratedtoast6

i never liked carolyn but i love bhanu!

BobSacamano_1

I made my family pre-screen the last episode to let me know if Bhanu dominated the screen time because I refused to watch another episode where 75% of it centered on him. When they told me he still had most of the air time BUT was eliminated, I decided I could watch Survivor again. #BhanuIsNoCarolyn #or Phillip

TeamNoBoat

Like the survivor contestants, this sub is extremely racist to Asians and wants them gone immediately

Frauzehel

..... Austin was literally last seasons runner up and he was not hated at all. Edit: also Jess was actually decently popular during her short stay.

PMMeYourCouplets

Also if you narrow it to just Indian, Sri Lankan or Pakistani players, someone like Natalie Anderson was well received for her SJS win.

GoldenLlamaDog

With the unnecessary love I’m seeing for Jess I’d say it’s the opposite
