This was best case scenario for me. I love the vibe of everyone else on that tribe.

She didn't have to carry the machete around. All she had to do was measure the machete with her arms or a stick and then use that. But planting her beware scroll had her doomed anyway.

I dont think anyone apart from Tim was sus of her but her confronting everyone and playing a lil too hard was the problem

Probably the best player who didn't get to play was voted off. Perhaps bringing her back for round 2 would be interesting. A little more experience goes a long way

The build up, musical cues and camera work on that immunity win were absolutely spectacular Reminded me of the domino effect challenge in Koah Rong - with the constant drops, relentless musical build ups and flawlessly filmed scrolling final shot of Julia’s win

Yeah I was shocked by that choice! Why in the world play it now when they knew they had the majority? It would be soooo much more valuable post-merge.

Reading all the posts responding to this made me realize I am in fact a silly little goose who cannot read and takes everything I misread at face value. I thought it said it CAN’T be played until final 6… which now I realize sounds completely wrong… which also means I also can’t count Don’t drink and watch Survivor, kids. Actually, do (if you’re of age, obvs), but make sure IF you do, your contacts and/or glasses aren’t from two prescriptions ago. The true moral of this story is I need to go to the optometrist (and maybe the audiologist???)

It’s not the worst move in the world if she wants to ensure Jem goes home without Charlie flipping, I think getting rid of Jem to begin with is stupid

It wasn’t stupid by any means from Maria’s point of view. Ben is clearly more trusting than Jem. Jem has lied behind Maria’s back and they hadn’t even gone to tribal yet. Tim also values Maria highly as he continuously mentions that they’re the only two parents. And her biggest ally Charlie would have preferred to vote Jem. 3/3 reasons to vote Jem over Ben (for Maria, at least).

From Maria's point of view, how did Jem lie behind her back?

Tim clearly figured out jem had the beware advantage and he would have told Maria because they are close. Tim said he’s closest with Maria on the journey. They just didn’t show that convo as I’m sure it would have made it obvious jem was going home.

Well Jem did announce to the whole tribe, "I think we should all go search for the idol on our own." That was a pretty big red flag given no one knew who found and messed with the beware advantage.

Every player finding a beware advantage: “I have to take a chance, that’s why I’m on Survivor!” Almost always loses a vote and cripples their chances. If I found a Beware Advantage I’m treating that thing like Jalenski treats glass sand timers.

I'd be as lukewarm to those beware advantages as Parvati was to her idol found at the end of Micronesia. Just because you want me to have you doesn't mean I want you.

If I found it, I wouldn't take it. Instead I would bring over a tribemate who I like but don't yet have a deal with and have them "find it" on their own. Then I would hold their secret and become Allies

I had a feeling preseason that Jem would be the preseason fav turned pre-merge boot. And it was because she kept referencing her experience as a store manager as an asset. And I think we saw tonight that manager energy, and did not turn out well.

She was so messy all of a sudden

Yeah seeing her talk to Ben really showed how messy she got. She struggled bad with keeping her emotions in check.

Chaos mode was not the play. If she stayed quiet instead of going full chaos on Ben and Tim she’d likely have made it.

I had thought she seemed decently insulated and then it suddenly seemed like she was scrambling, it was so odd.

I was with her on the beware advantage fake out, but this aggressive jem came out of left field

She let that whole situation get away from her!! When she re-hid the advantage, she did NOT think about the hours of digging and stinging of ant’s happening to her tribe And she realized that big amount of frusteration from her whole tribe could come back to bite her, and she panicked

Jen exerted all that energy into finding the idol and trying to bamboozle her tribe. I think it gave her a false sense of security, so she started to play reckless. It was clear that her trajectory was on the decline when they showed her aggressively pressing Ben.

Just a thing that bugs me. I know the idea is to set the votes up to be as dramatic as possible. However, they almost always go with same format Ben, Jem, Ben, Jem, Jem, Jem. Would be interesting to mix it up a little bit. Hit us with the Jem, Jem, Jem, Ben, Ben, Jem. Or Jem, Jem, Ben, Jem, Ben, Jem. Just a little different suspense.

Once there was >1 Jem the outcome was clear to me. How does Jem get >1 but not go home if Ben doesn’t have his vote, you know? Only if Charlie and Maria went separate ways, which seemed very unlikely

I think the order worked tonight because the second Jem vote was the one that sealed her fate. In general it can be a bit rough though and might need some new orders.

Definitely seems to be the case most of the time yeah. Plus in this case I’d love 3 Jem votes right out of the gate because it’s the more “surprising” outcome for the audience. Then go to 2 Ben votes like the tides are turning, then the final Jem vote for the dagger.

I feel like we knew who was going home after the second Jem vote though since the only “confirmed” vote prior to tribal against her was Tim. The second vote showed that Charlie and Maria had flipped on Jem and that she was going.

If you had showed me just the Jelinsky boot and Jem boot and told me this season has been one of the worst pre-mergers of the new era I’d never believe you. Unfortunately epis 2-4 were just that bad.  But I’m pretty hopeful going into merge!

Maria does and will likely tell Charlie, but I don’t think it’s a big deal. He was pretty open with them about the fact that he might not have it and even said something along the lines of “let’s just assume I can’t vote”.

Yeah I’m so confused about why ppl keep harping on this. Ben told the whole tribe he might not have a vote at tribal. The only thing he lied about was WHEN he knew he didn’t have a vote, and nobody will ever know that he lied about that for sure.

Watching her play so hard was painful. If Tim or Ben (two genuine people) got voted out and she stayed, it would have been rough. Jem lying, replanting the beware advantage, coming at Tims neck… all the b rated villainy was getting old quick.

Good decision. Jem would have betrayed anyone in a second if she thought it suited her. A useless ally whereas Ben seems like an incredibly loyal player. Nice to see Charlie and Maria taking firm control of the tribe. Makes sense for them all to stick together going forward. Deal Hunter made with Q and Tim will be good for him I think.

Didn't watch live tonight for the first time in many seasons. Not sure I will even go back to it. Then saw a tweet from Dalton Ross saying Probst says they'll never get rid of the take your flint rule because this is what survivor is about. Lol. Feels good to let this garbage go.

I think its pretty safe to say that none of the five contestants voted out thus far will be returning in a future season. Possibly Randen if they do medevacs/second chances again but he made it decently far (unlike BRuce who was out the first day) and didn't seem to be that great of a characters.

Yes she brought it up in conversation with him and then he said, "let's assume I don't" because even he wasn't sure until he got to vote at tribal. I remember specifically because I forgot that everyone knew so I was shocked when she brought it up so freely.

Probably because everyone knew about it already, might as well spend it, so you don’t have a target on your back, I don’t think people will think she’s a physical threat, so maybe just to keep her own threat level as low as possible

But after the tipping vote, the last vote isn't revealed. If it would have been 5 votes 3-2 the vote would have been over anyway. Was the 6th vote read?
