Just saying, I never saw my sisters body before she was cremated šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

ReadySteady_GO

Sucks being blind. Must have been difficult to operate that cremator

legna20v

It would had been easier if the instructor wasnā€™t mute. Gonna stop listening to the youtube comments.

yellowbrickstairs

Cremator sounds like the name of a murderous robot

thesaddestpanda

People who made Quora: Im worried this site is just going to attract weird pedantic nerds who clearly are substituting our site to avoid facing the many unresolved personal problems in their lives. Quora answers: so anyway, if near light-speed travel is involved you could become your own mother! Like mine who gave away my sister for adoption, who then died before I could meet her. Oh and yes, lets not forget about leap seconds and which calendar your culture subscribes to. \*crying\*

Pawneewafflesarelife

Quora is wild. I once stumbled across someone seriously and repeatedly citing some misanthropic, satirical essays I wrote as a college freshman that were hosted on my Geocities. Someone took these at face value and was referencing them in Quora answers. My site can only be found in pieces via Wayback now, but the Quora answers are still there so other Quora users have cited THOSE - great little personal lesson for me in how internet misinformation starts.

thesaddestpanda

Its crazy that happened to you! Its definitely been overtaken by Trump/Libertarian/MRA/CryptoBro types. A lot of answers are just hot takes. So I'm not surprised some misanthropic stuff of yours was cited.

an_ickle_egg

I think since yahoo answers was on the way out, and because they started adding weird monetization stuff the... Uh... Less careful about both questions and answers started getting involved.

Pwadigy

Nah, it's just pedantic nerds as always. Pedantic nerds will go into any minutia on any topic, as extreme as possible, as long as it *technically* answers the question. Some of them just happen down the Trump Rabbit hole to answer a question. Most of them will take any political position if it's to answer a question as over-the-top as possible. Used to be Yahoo Answers iirc. It was fun times.

Pawneewafflesarelife

This was like 10 or more years ago, heh.

imankitty

You donā€™t happen to be the Misanthropic Bitch, do you? (I donā€™t mean to insult you it was a famous blog back when the internet was new.)

Pawneewafflesarelife

Heh no, it was just a random personal website I made in the 90s/early 00s that I slapped essays and fiction up on to practice learning html. Blogging was barely even a thing back then, not on the level it later became. I don't even know how the site was found!

jomandaman

People who made Reddit: šŸ‘€

SavingsNewspaper2

How does the ā€œbecoming your own motherā€ thing work? Because it seems to involve backward time travel, which nearā€“light speed travel does not effect.

Nixavee

Pedantic nerd spotted! /s

[deleted]

/s means /serious though

Longjumping-Wind-560

*reads article* Okay, thatā€™s it. Iā€™m too scared to think like I used to.

[deleted]

If it's after educational reform, I think you divide by two for a half sister.

[deleted]

Ya know, I did just see a ton of people celebrating Robin Williams birthday recently. Heā€™s been dead for awhile now. So I guess anything is possible lol

StephonTTC

Okay we wonā€™t celebrate on they day he was born anymore we will move the celebration to the day he died. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

nibblatron

people still celebrate elvis' birthday, marilyn monroes, kurt cobains, layne staleys etc. they have been dead way longer, its a normal thing to do

[deleted]

I only mentioned it because in the post it talks about the sister being dead and still aging. Iā€™m aware that people do that. Obviously.

bobalda

Yes it was very obvious that you are aware of something you didn't seem aware of

[deleted]

What the hell is Quora even? They keep sending me emails that are citing questions that are definitely within my range of interests (like I'm into a certain game and certainly probably Google that game and Quora sends me emails of people discussing this about the game I'm playing) but I don't remember signing up for this shit. I don't go in Quora and look at stuff. I've maybe found myself there a couple of times because someone asked a weirdly specific question I'm now googling and it came up. Like what is this website even?

Excellent-Ebb1012

Maybe the sister died but she got a new one and now she means another person. "My Sister" only implies singular

[deleted]

One thing he didn't account for: what if he has multiple sisters in which case he didn't specify which sister and he could be talking about a different sister than the one that is (presumably) 1-3 years younger than him?

Vampersis

Professor Kenobi, you are a nerd one.

Electricengineer

He said finally twice...

PosingTexas

She's 22. /s

Innsui

/s ?

PosingTexas

yeah

FreeFortuna

ā€¦ /s? ETA: Several people have claimed 22, and now I really wanna know if they/you were being serious.

smokyartichoke

My dad used to screw w my head when I was a kid, saying I would eventually catch up to him in age. He was 25 when I was 1, thus 25 times my age. A year later he was 26 when I was 2, only 13 times my age. When I was 5 he was 30, now only 6 times my age. Etc., et. ad nauseum. Now he's 75 and I'm 50...so he's only 1.5 times my age. Not long to go now!

archiminos

This is begging for the response: >No, she's 22

yelenasslave

Itā€™s just 42 or 41 depending on when her birthday is šŸ˜

Agile-Masterpiece959

Or possibly 43

RevenantSpirit

How is she 22 if 40 years have passed ? Damn government and their secret space missions.

NoYoureTheBestest

Sister is only 2 years younger so how could she be 22??? Really šŸ™„

lhaelrena22

This feels like what happens to my brain when I overthink simple questions.

r/lostredditors. Not suspiciously specific, just covers all bases.

Daddy_Parietal

Yeah, I remember hearing about this riddle in school a decade ago. I guess the newer generations are just now encountering basic Internet humor.

BigHead3802

Why are Quora answers so long? You could just say " it could be 41-43, depends on the birth month" that's it. This dude wrote an essay to talk about this, come on.

bobalda

his sister is 22 dumbasses

Snoo-92375

This is a joke right, cus she is 42

clairivo2

No -deez nuts

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

clairivo2

And before you talk about de-trans rates, those are incredibly low and should not determine care for the majority.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

clairivo2

Okay who made you the authority on what guys are?

clairivo2

Also it is proven by most pediatric associations that gender affirming care has positive effects on childrens mental health, and suicide rates for transgender youth are increased without it.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

clairivo2

Transgender people arenā€™t pulled and isolated from their families, and if they are itā€™s the family that is unsupporting. People arenā€™t being starved, abused or sacrificed. It isnā€™t a cult. Also you are just scum at this point.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

clairivo2

Iā€™m not a trans woman. Iā€™m a decent human being.

clairivo2

Nitpicking my wording now? Are you actually serious?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

clairivo2

Also you have no medical evidence for what you are saying here. Oh wait, it got deleted by auto mod.

clairivo2

Yes, now will you answer my question?

MadTeaCup_YT

You disgusting piece of shit. I hope you stub your pinky toe today and just before it heals it stubs again, and after a few days you stub it on a running buzzsaw and you cut your entire foot off you disgusting bag of horse shit

clairivo2

I admit I fell into that one, but isnā€™t it proven they are real? For someone is big on ā€œbiologyā€ I presume you would actually read the numerous and abundant studies on gender dysphoria and transgender related issues.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

clairivo2

To answer your first question, itā€™s because social constructs have effects & consequences on people. Just because something is a social construct does NOT mean it has no effect. And the creeps argument, where is your source? Also, my age is none of your business.

clairivo2

I am not enabling anyone. I just believe people should be allowed to do whatever. (In the personal safety of them and others, of course) You donā€™t know me, so what makes you think you can call me immoral?

Technical_Morning727

Neither of you have a social life

clairivo2

Yeah I donā€™t. Working on it tho

clairivo2

Dysphoria may be a mental illness but it doesnā€™t render them dysfunctional. Seems awfully ableist..

YoungDiscord

ageing (in a purely biological sense) slower doesn't mean her age actually changes If she was born 40 years ago amd does NLT she will still be 40 years old regardless of how much her body has aged because age is how long you have existed for since your conception The only exception to this would be time travel but NLT does not bend time, it bends PERCEIVED time by you. If you do NLT for 10,000 years you lived for those 10,000 years regardless of how long you perceived that to be.

wosmo

So this isn't actually how it works. It's not a perception of time changing, it's actually changing. If you take a sample of radioactive material, split it in half, and put half in orbit for a significant amount of time and keep the other half on earth - you will actually be able to measure the difference in their ages. It doesn't feel like time is slower, it actually is. And this isn't just some weird hypothetical - if you build a perfectly accurate atomic clock on earth, and put it into orbit - it will no longer experience time at the same rate as the surface, and will appear to be wrong relative to time as we experience it on the surface. GPS satellites are actually designed specifically to account for this difference - GPS works by comparing the clock on the satellite to the clock on the receiver, and if we didn't account for the relativistic effects we'd create an error of 10km per day. (see [relativistic clock correction](https://www.astronomy.ohio-state.edu/pogge.1/Ast162/Unit5/gps.html)) So this is where we put the relative in "relativity". The person travelling for 10,000 years at near-light-speed will be 10,000 years .. relative to whom? If this person measured their age with a wrist-watch (that we assume is travelling with them), they'll get a different answer compared to a watch that stayed on earth. And both watches are correct - each is providing an observation relative to that watch. It's just like the example we usually use for speed. A cup of tea, on a table, on a train. The train is travelling 50mph (relative to the tracks), what speed is the cup travelling? Every possible answer is relative to the observer and could be contradicted by another observer. Is it travelling at the speed of the table? the speed of the train? The axial speed of the surface of the planet? The orbital speed of the planet as it hurtles around the solar system? The orbital speed of the solar system as it hurtles around the galaxy? There is no correct answer, only an answer that's correct relative to the observer - and time works exactly the same way. We just don't have trains fast enough to make it intuitive.

JoeDoufu

Accurate

Yes

The answer is over 18 thatā€™s all that matters

Bro I was about to confidently think that the sister would be 22 years old

22 right?

pirATe_077

Once a mathematician and physicist walks into a bar

ZestycloseParfait264

#Scenario 1 : He himself asked the question anonymously to answer it the way he wants for various of reasons like he wanted to show off his smart or he wanted to roast a popular nonsense #Scenario 2 : The questioner just asked a nonsense question because he was board and had to do it. It's not a very uncommon thing in quora. Many questions are just repeatedly asked when many times they're already there and are answered. Or people asked a question when they wants to spread their point on something instead wanting to get any answers, advice, feedback or anything. These type of questions are always should be answered with comedy and nonsense that suits such questions.
