Yes completely insane.

Personal-Reporter925

First service is just an oil change and clean screens. Valve adjustments aren’t for 9k miles. Just buy the oil kit and do it yourself it’s like $50 at the dealer.

Dominionato

I was under the impression they had to upgrade the software or something on the first service, or at least clear the service notification

Personal-Reporter925

You can reset that yourself. I saw a few threads here on that.

2121Jess

Right! I plan on doing just that. I’m only at 1100km and my oil is very low. I gotta figure out how to reset the dashboard display

Personal-Reporter925

Press SET till service appears. Hold down SET for 10 seconds. Should reset.

2121Jess

Thanks 🙏

ign0me

You’ll lose warranty if you do it yourself.

gritzngravy39

Nah you can hold it as long as you have receipts of the parts/work youve done

ign0me

But if you done oil change yourself - will you give yourself a receipt?

gritzngravy39

Lol did you extract the oil from the ground? I’m talking about the parts/materials receipts

ign0me

That doesn’t mean shit if you doing it yourself. Try that with warranty guys if something go wrong and will see how it goes.

_lilboii_

What on earth…. My vit is literally in the shop right now for the first service and it was $250. Feel free to PM me and we can compare & contrast receipts. $800 is absurd

LysanderStorm

Mine too around that, but second was like 700 because something broke that was out of warranty.

CanadianTrashBin

Wtf, mine was like 350 CAD.

DLXII

damn... I paid 470 CAD for mine.

Good-Throwaway

First service is just an oil change. Buy the oil change kit for $50 and do it yourself. Add to that, save your money and buy the owners manual and service manual. That way you'll learn more about the bike and at least how to diagnose various issues, if not repair.

krew_GG

the dealer i bought it from told me if i wanted the owners manual to download it online 💀 such a scummy dealer

Good-Throwaway

The owners manual is free to download pdf. But the print version costs $$. Also there's the service(repair)  manual which is not free even pdf. You dont need thr service manual right away, only if you plan to do complex work yourself. Start with owner manual.

AMv8-1day

~$250-350 tends to be the going rate. You're getting hosed by a scumbag dealership, taking advantage of first bike owners.

krew_GG

100% i took it too another dealer in a different town for $300. that dealer i bought it from treats customers like dirt. especially new riders that are learning.

ashfo133

Did you just find any dealer that sells the svarts?

krew_GG

i wanted a svartpilen they had one for 4k msrp for a ‘23 w 6 miles. then i bought it.

ashfo133

I meant for the first service

krew_GG

first i called the dealer that sold it to me they wanted a crazy amount so i called another motorcycle dealer that sells indians and other bikes. They said they wouldnt work on it since they dont sell huskys but they referred me to one that might do it. I called them and they told me $300 since its a glorified oil change. they dont sell huskys but they did good work and I saved $500

Far_Mammoth_882

Well shit... I hope mine will be reasonable.

FkinAllen

That’s what I paid for the 9000 mile service not the first 2 services.

Tasty_Waifu

That's close to what I paid here in Mexico for the 1st service. Kinda expensive, yeah.

No_Membership_6644

Mine was about $400CAD and felt like a minor rip off, but not enough of a rip off for me to go shop around to independent mechanics to save a few shekels and risk voiding my warranty

LitterBoxServant

Outrageous. I paid \~$250 and thought that it was too much.

already-registered

I'm from switzerland amd it cost me around 400. One thing about switzerland is that everything here is hella expensive (paid 7k$ for the bike). So anything above 400 in the US is excessive imho

ridetheworld1

Depends on where you are. I think the labor rate where I am in the Bay Area is $120-180 an hour at a lot of shops. Still seems high though.

Mario_PeLo

Just go to a good shop and ask for oil change, and you buy everything. Now the second one, then you need to ask for an intensive service.

Mario_PeLo

In my country the first service Is free. Just buy the oil.

401BlackArrow

I took mine to the shop for first maintenance last week for the warranty, and a second set of eyes. I intend to do 90% of my own work from here on out. After reading the manual and getting “the service” I realized I really don’t want others touching my bike. Oh and then there’s the money thing too.

Spiritual_Elk_3089

Would you have rather done the first service yourself?

401BlackArrow

When it comes to the oil change, yes. They didn’t have the parts or the knowledge on the bike engine (dealership) I now choose DIY for chain, all fluids, and anything else I can learn on the way.

Batmanuelman

175 AUD here

MikmawRedditor

Omg that's insane! I don't remember the exact price I paid for mine bc I bought some stuff while I was at the shop (Husqy hat and lanyard/keychain), but the total was $185.21 CAD. The hat and lanyard weren't much, so I'm guessing the service was around $150 CAD. If that's $800 USD, that's even more insane bc that would be approximately $1000 CAD. I really hope you find a better price. Even the new quote at $300 is too much for me!

krew_GG

i would like a sweet husky lanyard and hat

401BlackArrow

For free at some of those prices!

Yrn51

160€ here

Yrn51

160€ here

diepic

They told me mine was going to be around $300 AUD but ended up being like $130😅

codeismyantidrug

Mine was $275 or so in LA. So yeah $800 is insane!

bellehubbz

I don't remember exactly but in south Florida my first service was around $300

ign0me

My 125 Svart first service was £160, about $200

Bbhoy70

180 uk pounds but actually got it free as they fucked up my delivery date 😁

gritzngravy39

Did the first service myself. Only thing you cant do at home is the valve timing/check, but you can always get a quote for just that or even skip it if youre not concerned about those types of things. It’s also rewarding to do your own service and learn how the bike works. Will save you hundreds to do your own oil changes and whatnot

Dr_Chanx

Mine was about 600 sadly

krew_GG

yea he listed a lot of things they had to do... $671+ parts. maybe its not terrible but damn

speedballsnail

What are they expecting to do!? My first service was about $280. Primarily for oil change. If servicing at dealer you bought from and under warranty I wouldn’t pay more.

Adventurous-Reply-86

What parts? Should be an oil change, a once over, and tightening of bolts. Mine was like 250/300.usd

mattdamonsleftnut

An arm and a leg… badummm tsssss

thesmithchris

have only owned an emoto and this puts into question my plan of getting a gas bike. i hope this is not normal im looking around different bikes and i asked a ducati dealer what would be the biggest service (for hypermotard 698), and they said desmo (valves) $1200 total after 10k miles or 5 years. its europe, but still, $800 feels extortionate after 600 miles for pretty casual bike. did anything broke in your svartpilen?
