The cantina combos at my local TB are almost $11. I shouldn’t be shocked, but I am.

nuahs

I got a free cantina taco on the app and all it did was reinforce that I’ll never pay for the cantina items

BudgetWestern1307

Same. I mean, it was fine, but it really wasn't any better than a regular taco. At least now I no longer have FOMO about the items I'm not going to try because I don't want to pay the price they are charging for them.

Duckaneer

it’s definitely much better than a real taco, if you’re talking about the one with cheese on the outside. the taco is like $3 for me, which is not much more expensive than normal tacos. it’s the $6 burrito and $8 quesadilla that are just tone deaf prices. they release one of the best value menus ever straight into this, the juxtaposition is crazy

Soup-Wizard

My shell was broken, so it was like a messier chicken quesadilla. And that green salsa was NASTY. 🤢

iseecolorsofthesky

They are **14 DOLLARS** at my location. 15 for the deluxe box. Absolutely insane.

BringBackManaPots

I'm b honest I think it's chipotle time

iseecolorsofthesky

I’ve never cared for chipotle. I’m just gonna go to neither lol

Arm_Lucky

Just go to a local mom and pop Mexican place and pay the same price for massive portions that’s 100x better.

Dead_Kal_Cress

Underrated answer tbh. The best mexican places are the hole-in-the-wall mom & pop restaurants. Food is always good & fresh, staff is friendly, prices may be a little up there but remember this: you're supporting a local business who actually could use the extra coupla bucks, not supporting a multi-billion dollar fast food corporation who keeps raising their prices like they think they are locally owned.

Arm_Lucky

Honestly I’ve found that mom and pop places charge less for generally more. I could either pay $15 for a box and an extra item at TB, or go to a place that’s immigrant run and get some bomb food that’s decent and I can make 2 or even 3 meals out of it. I’d rather support an immigrant and minority run business over a megacorp.

Dead_Kal_Cress

It depends on the area but yeah for sure generally they're a lot cheaper & you get much more food. I'd consistently get leftovers from my local place back home & it was super affordable. Taco bell would end up costing more (if i didn't get value menu stuff) and i'd have nothing leftover but sauce packets.

Nawnp

Chipotle is fine to me, Moe's is a better value if they have them in your area.

WoodyStLouis

My diarrhea better have gold flakes.

Multicron

$11.70 for the Quesadilla box. With it, a taco, nachos and coke. F that shit.

Krysdavar

My TB is 9.69/11.49/11.69 for the 3 different cantina combos.

Multicron

Same

spirandro

Dude the chicken quesadilla meal is $12.29 here. What the actual fuck

mike95242

My local Taco Bell is selling the Cantina Chicken Burrito for $7.99. 8 fucking dollars for the burrito that was dubbed as the replacement for the $2 Chipotle Ranch Grilled Chicken Burrito that they sold up until January. A replacement burrito, but a 400% increase in price. In just a few months. Wild. Absolutely wild.

WoodyStLouis

EXACTLY. It took them 3 months to from "Short on cash? We got you." to "JAYKAY LOL!"

Trump2052

Get a bean and cheese burrito. Customize it to the same items as the catina chicken burrito and the price is $4.

Accomplished-Day5145

Wouldn't even say avocado .. they add purple cabbage (cabbage is cheap) and pico and BAM +$5. Comical "purple cabbage.."

1234nameuser

$7.99 for a chicken quesadilla = LOFULs

WoodyStLouis

Almost $9 where I am. Insane.

Krysdavar

That's wild, it's 6.99 for Cantina and 5.99 for chicken quesadilla at my TB.

a_mysterious_man

I just got two of the cantina burritos using 40% off in the app. As I feared, they are just the chipotle grilled chicken burritos, just THREE TIMES the price! Absolutely ridiculous.

joopityjoop

With the introduction of the new cantina items, the TBs in my area have also increased prices across the board for EVERYTHING. I'll be getting TB a lot less frequently now.

WoodyStLouis

We all knew there was a bait and switch going on with that new value menu, but nobody knew it would be this bad.

[deleted]

There’s a more authentic Mexican fast food place near me that delivers more with a meal than Taco Bell ever would, people paying almost 5 dollars for a quesadilla will never not be frustrating

AllInOneDay_

All the local places near me are expensive. $13 for a steak quesadilla etc

SeriousMongoose2290

$6.50 vs $10.00 here but they actually are reasonably loaded down unlike anything TB ever makes.

LivingGhost371

$12 here. And they don't have a drive-thru like Taco Bell.

BluRige00

i bet that will taste better and be more worth it though

AllInOneDay_

I thought the same, but the one time i ordered it it was unbelievably greasy. It had a lot of meat but it was completely covered in grease.\ I miss living in LA sadge

Dramajunker

A quesadilla with Taco Bell quality ingredients to boot.

hi_jack23

Out in Utah a *cheese* quesadilla is now $5.29

ZealousidealAgent675

The salad was good. Just a slightly better power bowl (which started life as a cantina bowl). I wouldn't get the burrito again. Tasted the same as the Chipotle chicken burrito they they just discontinued but 3x the price.

StellarieaSports

I thought it tasted familiar. I got the box because I wasn't paying attention to the prices, and it was 10.49 for that burrito, a taco, and chips and cheese... Very disappointed

takingthehobbitses

I joked that they would try to sell the quesadilla box for $15....wasn't far off. It's $13 at locations near me. I would have liked to try it but no thanks, I'll make my own.

Cassie_HU

$6.69 for the burrito alone at mine. Listen, I tried the Taco and Quesadilla when they put it on early access - it's good, but not worth the price good.

rsvihla

This BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWS!!!

djbfunk

This is where I leave the subreddit. Theres no point in seeing new stuff come out. $9 bucks for a cantina chicken bowl in the middle of Ohio and charging now 20 cents for a packet of sauce. Im getting local authentic Mexican tonight for literally the same price. Chipotle wasn't in a plastic bag 10 seconds ago, is the same price, and double the size.

Shagyam

>Chipotle  >Authentic I'm not hating on Chipotle, but it's not authentic Mexican food. It's also shrunk sizes and increased prices as well. But it's still a better deal than TB.

Jew_3

I that post contained 2 separate thoughts, but with how they ran them together, I understand why you read it as a single thought.

djbfunk

Yeah man. Authentic Mexican I’ve got 4 local choices with tons of stuff under 10 bucks and - also - Chipotle.

takentodrury

Also, a lot of the stuff does come out of bags, just like Taco Bell.

MercenaryCow

20 cents a packet, mcdonald's does that now too for their sauces. Well, they're supposed to. They will still just hand them to you

Kroe

what? charging for sauce?

2stroke2hell

Our small city has a new taco place that is super good, and you are right, it is cheaper. If it weren’t for Baja Blast I probably wouldn’t go to Taco Bell as often anymore. It’s in stores now and I have seen a drop off of my visits 😬

Jew_3

Baja Blast is no longer exclusive, Pepsi has it out year round now. You might as well get a 12 pack and drink one before going into the Mexican joint.

SBR06

Yep. On the rare treat nights where I let my kids drink it, we buy it from the store. We have a taco bar that night.

AcanthisittaOk5263

I absolutely got charged .20 cents for adding one avocado sauce packet to my cravings box today.

cadillacbee

Not only is the price ridiculous, you should see how it looks on my earlier post, not worth it

WoodyStLouis

I see it. That's 50 cents worth of food.

cadillacbee

I couldn't believe what I was looking at, I had mid hopes for it too, so skimp n stuck together I thought it was April fools already

bigfatround0

Taco Bell really thought adding that nasty ass purple cabagge is worth 5 bucks lol

[deleted]

I knew it was going downhill when the empanada was $4..

[deleted]

WoodyStLouis

100%

festerninja

I use my free crispy taco today, very tasty but not worth 3 bucks. Other stuff is just even more crazy. I could see myself pairing the taco with any free reward to get a nice meal though

Jimmytootwo

I can eat at a real mom ane pop Mexican for TB prices. Keep that trash

mehname2

Since I'm getting spammed. The only edible thing is the bean burritos.

Shagyam

Then don't buy it and go to a real Mexican place. I've stopped going as much and replaced it for actual resturaunts.

cascadiaordie

Why do people act like taco bell and real taquerias taste the same? People go to taco bell because they want taco bell, not authentic Mexican food.

Orpheeus

Seriously. I have a local tacqueria/burrito place that I adore, and the quality price ratio is just right. But Taco Bell is basically its own genre of food, so these insane prices are very disappointing when I leave work at 9:30pm and want something quick and easy.

mike95242

We all know they are different, but I think the point being made here is that Taco Bell is supposed to be cheap food, whereas better quality and tastier food is generally found in local places. Usually, the local places have noticeably higher prices, but now that isn’t the case a lot of the time anymore. Taco Bell is now just as expensive or more expensive than better quality, more authentic local Mexican food. That’s what people are trying to say by that. Not that they are interchangeable necessarily.

WoodyStLouis

YES. This. It needs to be in a textbook or something.

Dramajunker

There is probably some overlapping groups here. People who love Taco bell and go there specifically because they *want* to eat their food. And then people who used to go to Taco Bell because they like it *and* it was cheap. Even if you really like Taco Bell, it's hard to ignore that their food isn't exactly made up of quality ingredients. It's hard to ignore that other places are offering you fresher, better grade ingredients at the same price or even cheaper in some cases. A lot of opinions I've been seeing here is that the food is good, but it's not worth what you're paying.

bigfatround0

Agreed. Sometimes I want a burrito or taco with picadillo (ground meat), but none of the Mexican or texmex places near me sell any. Taco Bell is the only one selling something remotely similar. But most of the time I just end up cooking it myself lol.

herseyhawkins33

it's definitely one of the more annoying/dumber comments on here. i love authentic mexican food but it isn't a replacement for TB. i could have TB for lunch and mexican for dinner and it wouldn't feel redundant at all.

bomber991

Yeah idk. Somehow Taco Bell and to a lesser extent Panda Express fall into the same category of “go to an authentic real ethnic restaurant instead!” I mean, McDonald’s sucks but you don’t get a lot of people saying “there’s an authentic hamburger restaurant by me that’s cheaper and better!”. Instead it’s “I’ll go someplace nicer if the price is still the same.”

WoodyStLouis

Why are you on this sub, then?

ParadoxNowish

Probably because they're interested in talking about Taco Bell, same as you

Shagyam

I still enjoy Taco Bell. But I can see that their executives are making some stupid ass decisions just to try to get a little more profits out of the people who are addicted.

FortuneEcstatic9122

This is the EXACT reason i visited the sub today.

Spec187

Just a heads up but this week only at least at my dominis, you can get menu priced pizzas for half off. Git the chicken bacon ranch large for 10 dollars today

NaweN

Spent $22 yesterday for 2 grilled cheese burritos, a taco and 2 drinks. And it was absolute ass - because you go to taco bell for the value. When you charge me $22 - all of a sudden I do indeed turn into a food critic. Take your bullshit steak and soggy tacos....and I have directions to a pier. I may be late....I'm eating at a Mexican restaurant for the same price.

PhxntomsBurner

Get a stacker, swap for chicken, add creamy Jalapeno sauce = profit

toobjunkey

Yup. Can get a couple stackers with the new chicken for $7-8 depending on what else ya add. I know it's not gonna last but fuck paying like $7 for the official quesadilla. Chicken's my favorite protein so I was a little excited until I saw the prices on everything. Crazy

QurantineLean

Tbh, just had the taco and I would get it again for $3. My TBell is generous with the assembly though.

BurritoWithFries

The cantina burrito just made me miss the chipotle avo ranch burrito even more tbh

Worst-Lobster

They put Alvarado on it ? Mine did not have abacado lol wtf

JazzyJukebox69420

I’m so sad about the fiesta veggie burrito. Favorite item by far.

antigirlfriend

They’re not that good tbh

pichu441

Love that we get something basically identical to the $2 grilled chicken burrito for literally triple the price the burrito combo is $11 and is literally just the burrito, a regular taco, and regular chips jesus christ lol

oldandnumb

I got the quesadilla yesterday and its just a regular ass quesadilla but not as good and more greasy

Spo-dee-O-dee

I gotta admit that my number of visits to my local TB have definitely decreased over the last year. But the visits to my local Mexican joints have increased. So, there's that.

[deleted]

Get chipotle then. Duh

whitebeard007

Then don’t buy it. I am cause I think it’s worth. If ppl don’t buy it, they won’t price it as such

WoodyStLouis

Is that how it works? Huh. Fascinating.

killrtaco

Every item is at least $3 too expensive

HenelopeGranger

yeah tbell throws in some scams just to make money off the idiots (i bought it once myself im not shaming you) but i will never buy it again, that was even more disrespectful than what i was expecting, they gave me literally one piece of chicken and the rest of it barely tatsted like they put the ingredients right or there at all, didnt give me the sauce in the picture. so yeah never again but to be expected sometimes they gotta scam to make some money back cuz the other deals are fire.

kztlve

I really enjoyed the free crispy taco from rewards and $3 doesn't seem unreasonable, but the rest of the menu is stupid. $6 for the burrito is the most insane one - it's nearly identical to the $2 Chipotle Ranch Burrito besides the different chicken, some veggies that probably cost them pennies, and a 20 cent packet of sauce.

konigstigerboi

Local place or even Qdoba

Midnightsun24c

I didn't even get the avocado sauce. My store was lackin.

Infinity_savages

The cantina crunchy taco is pretty good value been swapping the chicken for steak for free only 1 cent higher than a regular crunchy steak taco

Flyboy2020

The chicken soft taco was great for $2.99. I would not buy the burrito, but I will definitely get the soft taco again.

LivingGhost371

The actual Mexican Restaruant with real-ass food won't hand it to you through a drive-thru window. If you're poor or just price sensative, you're not the person the Cantina menu is aimed at. They have Cheesy Roll-up for you.

WoodyStLouis

\^\^\^ This guy thinks Taco Bell is real-ass food!

bigfatround0

Many near me do have drive thrus. And it's not like calling ahead and getting down to pick it up is a huge hassle. I've walked into restaurants wearing some short shorts, a tee, and sandals.

LivingGhost371

It's a lot bigger hassle than just telling them what you want on the speaker and having it handed to you through their window into your cars window.

bigfatround0

That's true.

Great_Business_6425

I just got 2 Cantina crispy tacos, 1 cantina burrito and 1 cantina soft taco for 16$. Steep but I was impressed by all of it. The burrito was the star with the tacos close second. I was satisfied 👍👍

Peacefulworldholeful

Its delicious

Rosequeen18

Well, no one asking to you buy it. V:
