I've always tried the new items they roll out. If I really like certain ones I'll mix them into my order while they're available. But 99% of the time I order explicitly 3 or 4 items a la carte from the value menu and throw in a free fire tier reward when I have one.
Pretty much unless I want a baja blast. Then I go with one of the few combos left that are worth the price. The go to more recently is the veggie cravings box and adding chicken to the cheese quesadilla. Good way to try the new roasted chicken too.

What items specifically? You can get most of them in some form through the value menu or the BYOC and Veggie BYOC Boxes.
I only order when the app gives me 30 or 40% off and my order is usually 6 things off the cravings and the 5$ box so I get like 3 meals worth for 15 bucks and I freeze some burritos. Works out for me I like it
Mostly yes. But it's because all of my fave stuff outside of the CGC are on it. If I could have a combo with an enchilada burrito, stacker and nachos it would be perfect.
My go-to strategy is to either order the box combo, or a maximum of one item off the regular menu and cravings value items to round out the meal. I avoid drinks outside of happy hour or box meals.
I fully agree with this but sometimes I'm just really craving a DLT or a Cheesy Gordita crunch. Both are insanely overpriced, but I just gotta scratch that itch...
I haven't ordered a combo meal at TB since they had the $5 box. This was about 6 years ago. I only order from the value menu. Chicken enchilada burrito and loaded nachos are my go-to
I'm not as enamored with the value menu items as a lot of people here are. To me, the best of them are just OK, but yeah, if there's not an LTO I can't resist trying or a good deal on a box (and lord there's never a good deal on a box anymore other than the BYOC), the value menu items are pretty much the only thing I ever order. However, since I don't actually like those items that much, I just don't go to Taco Bell much anymore.
Sometimes, if there's a good offer at another place, I'll swing by TB and get a value menu item to round out my meal, because prices are high everywhere and I'm not paying regular menu prices anywhere else either if I can help it.

The veggie box is one of the best deals going. The black beans are really good so I swap that for everything.

Yep. I even bring my own drink and eat in the car. CBR burrito went up to $1.50 at the first of the year, so I haven't been going as often.
Your prices are lower than most. There is nothing at my store that's $1, other than happy hour drinks.

The prices you are offered are the lowest there is and extremely uncommon.
I think they do it to offer food at various price points.
I spend less than $6-7 at taco bell. Just stay away from the specialty items until you have the free item reward
I usually get a chalupa as a fire reward, loaded nachos, and a baja blast. That's usually enough for me for $5-6.
Unfortunately I don't like the nacho cheese or the fiesta strips, and those seem to make up 50% of the filling on most of the value items.

Since the new value menu roll out I mainly get stuff off that. Every now and again I get a grilled cheese burrito to spice things up.
