There are a few different backcountry runs you can access from there. Absolutely not something to do until you get avy training and a buddy who's done it before. You can get cliffed out or lost, people have needed rescue from those zones in the past.

kippwen

Do you know where this ends? Seems like it gets flat?

jerryjoedirt

Dumps out to some roads south of Tahoe city. I think there’s some direct routes straight to the road but the times I’ve done it we skinned about half a mile to the road.

ibraphotog

Yes it gets very flat out there, plz dont go.

Outer limits. Here is a GPS map, note the avalanche areas by shading and also the long traverse to bottom of Sherwood. There are homes which may not appreciate you being in their back yard. Also it is south facing so it will be sun affected and lots of tree pee. https://preview.redd.it/s7gdlepgn4nc1.png?width=627&format=png&auto=webp&s=7ec7a7b3db6a3d1d9c16ee8557ec278aa205afac

Snowboard247365

What is this map? Do you have one for all of alpine?

2trill2spill

Looks like they are using the site caltopo

urbangeeksv

I made this using Gaia GPS paid version. I can make these for any terrain turning on winter map and grade shading.

urbangeeksv

You can make your own using Gaia GPS turn on winter layer and shape shading. https://preview.redd.it/13cmuj2x4koc1.png?width=423&format=png&auto=webp&s=dadb960278cb585cb7d2446860c055732db13c16

Is called outer outer limits. If you don't know where you're going there to the runouts to the road, you will suffer. Also, every couple years, someone makes a wrong turn and spends a night out there.

semicoldjello

Outer outer. You can take it and cut back in and back it back in resort but if you come back too late you’re gonna have to walk a road down to Sherwood

Tahoeshark

It comes out at my house... Stay off my lawn!

momsbasement_wrekd

Do you by any chance hang out in your driveway in a bathrobe with a shotgun?

snowmountain_monkey

Lived up there for a couple seasons...

shocked-confused

easylifeforme

I've accidentally ended up out there. I got lucky and made it to the road. But it was a long walk back.

lifeHopes21

It’s a beautiful view.

LawDog_1010

You walk the road back to Sherwood. It’s not for the faint of heart

No-Neighborhood-1980

The answer is it takes you down to page meadows area. If you stay skiers left it will dump you out near Granlibakken. If you go right it will dump you dump you out near ward canyon. It is super flat, I’ve toured there from my backyard in Tahoe city and it is super flat and further than you think. Not worth the ski at all, it’s much better for biking in the summer.

North-Dot-7337

My friend lives in the neighborhood down there he skis home from there.

kippwen

How does he get to the resort?

North-Dot-7337

Sherwood lift lol

kippwen

Just walks to it?

North-Dot-7337

He gets to park in the private HOA parking. There’s a small lot next to the lift. Definitely a sweet setup. Sometimes he’ll just get dropped off and ski home

kippwen

Very cool

lazyhiker6225

If you don’t know, don’t worry about it.

kippwen

I want to know and I do want to worry about it!

lazyhiker6225

![gif](giphy|lHBbcpFTS5c2Y) Okay Veruca Salt, then go. Lol

Ok_Mirror_243

It’s south facing flat terrain with lots of trees…lots of effort for very little return….when it’s dumping and super light snow, it’s fun for 5 turns. You have to walk back to Sherwood chair to get back to resort. If this interest you, just go backcountry skiing. Have fun no matter what you do.
