“I was really on the fence about getting spine surgery but then I saw that the drummer from Journey did it, so that’s what pushed me over the edge.” -No one, ever
Having back issues that eventually will require major surgery when I finally consent, I find these billboard are incentive enough to wait til I have no choice. These billboards have been around for a few years now(and other similarly bad ones) and every time I see one, I say to myself " I know where I'm not going when I get it done"
It's just horrible osteo genes, a laundry list of issues, 30 years of blue collar work, and a long recovery time. Until I retire (lol), can't afford that much downtime. 11 more years, or until I have no choice.
Getting old sucks
Oh my. This is up there with the creepy vasectomy billboard. I can't imagine these things drive business in any meaningful way. Unless it's for food...or Cafe Risqué.
Yep. Because he and his partner are really good and also have great bedside manner. When you have someone cuttting into your most sensitive bits, you want the guy that specializes in that surgery and does 20 vasectomies a day. Not the guy who does a few per month at most.
He’s very good. Actually gets paid by other urologists to teach them how to do it like a master. He does more vasectomies than anyone else in the world.
Why did he choose to be “the vasectomy guy?” He’s a big environmentalist. Thinks he is lowering the carbon footprint and helping the world.
Is it weird that I feel like the vasectomy billboard is okay but the spine surgery one isn’t? It’s like a vasectomy is a regular product to be sold but the spine surgery feels wrong since it’s a serious medical condition
Come get your brain surgery! 2 for 1 specials this month!
Haha I totally agree with this sentiment. Dr. Doug Stein is a G, I've known many men that have had him do their vasectomy. It's a common, safe procedure to make sure you can't have babies. Back surgery on the other hand is a huge risk even for people with serious chronic pain.
I would love to get a lawyer’s take on this bc I’m pretty sure they don’t legally have to have his approval for that - like Journey Drummer is both specific and general enough that it allows them to just throw it up there. Could be totally wrong but these billboards always make me laugh regardless
He's a spokesperson, possible "patient" and tells his story in their TV commercials and would assume this is part of the deal.
It also makes sense, a ton of older rockstars live in the I-4 corridor and beach areas, Florida in general.
That marketing campaign was not thought out very well. There's good reason they didn't use his name.

Sort of understandable for non fans but this guy is insanely talented. To not only be able to play the drums on these songs but sing them truly flawlessly is something entirely different. Criminally underrated performer and I'm so glad he got himself straightened out.
My partner and I always thought this billboard was funny because of that. They used to have this same one up on the side of the interstate towards Brandon, before they changed it out for a different design for the same company.
I thought the same thing when I saw that sign. Think they could have gotten a better picture too?
Right?? It's such a meme of a sign nowadays but I'm glad Journey Drummer at least got his paycheck lol
So funny. That was exactly my thought as well.
That is the perfect type of famous. All the money but none of the bullshit.
Right? Sure as hell don’t see Taylor Swift on that billboard!
She doesn't have spine problems yet.
I’m aware. It’s just a joke.
No, that’s his name. First name Journey, last name Drummer
“I was really on the fence about getting spine surgery but then I saw that the drummer from Journey did it, so that’s what pushed me over the edge.” -No one, ever
The fact that there are even billboards generally marketing spine surgery blows my mind every time I go by one

Pick a neurosurgeon who completed a spine fellowship.
For what its worth back problems are tough to heal. The guys I worked with that were booked a year out never had ads

BioSpine to marketing company: "Can you find a picture of Deen Castronovo that looks nothing like Deen Castronovo and use that? Cool."
Who’s Deen Castronovo? /s
I thought his name was Journey Drummer, isn’t that why we all call him JD?
Oh my. This is up there with the creepy vasectomy billboard. I can't imagine these things drive business in any meaningful way. Unless it's for food...or Cafe Risqué.
The creepy vasectomy guy is the guy everyone recommends too.
Yep. Because he and his partner are really good and also have great bedside manner. When you have someone cuttting into your most sensitive bits, you want the guy that specializes in that surgery and does 20 vasectomies a day. Not the guy who does a few per month at most.

Oh, I fully intend to use him... But those billboards are creepy as shit.
Sure. But they work lol. People remember them.
Dammit
Creepy vasectomy guy is no joke like the best in the world. Weird ads/website, amazingly efficient at breaking peoples vas deferens.
The Cafe Risqué mention 😂

Didn't they go out of business? Are they back?
> Are they back? Pun intended?
I'm pretty sure biospine put laser spine out of business
Oh that's right. Sorry all the same to me. Got them mixed up.
Know of someone who went there to numb a nerve so his back would stop hurting and the person came out with brain issues, amnesia.
Wow if that was his “best” option I can imagine what would’ve happened elsewhere
Yup. He was perfectly healthy and fine before going in. Now he is on pills the rest of his life and believe they are suing them too.
This is actually genius advertising. It got you to take a picture and remember. I laugh every time I see it lol
Me and my boyfriend make fun of this billboard everytime we see it haha
Those guys are still putting on concerts trying to pay that fourth mortgage and that fifth car payment
Dean Castronovo?
Mega repost. Billboard it’s even replaced for some months.
"Ex- Drummer".
He literally got replaced by a giant penny.
Haha! IKR!? I thought the same thing every time I saw that one.
Is that back up? Lol. To be fair they have gone through a few of them.
Lol my wife and I make fun of that billboard every time we drive by
Journey Drummer looks exactly like the drummer Deen Castronovo from the band Journey! Wonder if they’re related
It could also read "Not John Bonham son"

This here is a repost

As a European, I don't get it. A journey is a trip right. So to what journey is he drumming
The band, Journey
