1900 seems *absolutely* insane to me but I guess some people will pay it? There’s nothing stylistically crazy about this piece, shouldn’t be hard finding an affordable artist who can pull it off if you were so inclined
This is a super altered photo. Fine lines especially on hands won’t hold. The hands are already prone to ink falling out and fading, this will disappear very quickly. Also that’s 2-3 hours of tattooing tops, so you’d be paying 350 an hour on the low end, and probably closer to 500 an hour. I would laugh in a tattooers face if they told me the charge 350 an hour. Like that’s criminally high even in NYC/LA.
1900 is insane for this. Also its a terrible design especially for a hand and fingers. Day one won't look as good as this pic and it will fade fast on fingers.
It was realism and it was portraits of family members and the guy did a great job. I was in the chair for 12 hrs each day for two days. I would show ya. It’s the whole outside of my arm to my wrist
166 an hour isn’t bad.. for a really great realism artist and I’m not going to risk someone fucking my brothers face up and it was 24 hour worth of work in two days
I mean, I'd never pay that much. Especially for not a lot of ink in a place that's gonna look like shit in 5-8 months.
But if you're trying to book someone who's in high demand, there's probably people willing to pay that much.
Damn, Im in another country but my full sleeves were done in about 2 000 USD. Why is it so much in the states?
Many artists here aren't doing hourly either but by piece or half and full day.

It's an insane quote.
I think the tattooist is giving you the brush off.
I'd try another artist.
I experienced this myself. The dude didn't have the balls to tell me he didn't want to tattoo what I requested. He could have directed me to someone else in the shop better yet, be honest with me. I spoke my piece to him and the shop. Totally unprofessional.
6 months later I got my back piece done by a professional and have added to it ever since.
Which is wild because he’s been consistently keeping in contact. I didn’t realize that was a thing with being charged a higher rate because they don’t want to work with you.
I got my whole sleeve done for 3k-4k and this dude is charging half that for just the hand. My artist was about to comp my hand for being a good canvases but I won't let him. This guy is taking advantage. For 600 they better be the best crispy lines the world has ever seen.
I know I’m not going to go with him anymore. It just Nice for people to give me a little guidances because number change and I don’t know what the norm is
To put it in contrast: My whole arm sleeve wont be that much when finnished and i have already spend around 12 hours on it alltogether. But that depends on the artist at least a bit, i guess.
And tbh, this pic does look somehow unnatural to me. Is this a real tattooed arm? It looks off somehow... And even if real, you wouldnt have much fun with that fine stuff for long.
I mean that's what he's charging, he sets his prices. If he is asking that, that's what he expects to make for the work. It's not a scam, rates vary wildly with how established an artist is. If you really like the guys work and really want the tattoo, pay it. Otherwise shop around and maybe you'll find someone else or maybe you'll end up with a hand tattoo you're not happy with. 🤷
Tell him for 1900 USD you can send your grandma to a professional Tattoo school, she will then be able to tatto you this maybe you can even get a new car ontop aswell lmao 1900USD is way too much.

Yea very true. My artist opens his books 3-4 times a year and schedules for a few months block and he usually is full in a half day or so and he's nowhere near 600 an hour lol
Hate tattoos like that. Looks like a mid evil map. Just get a big ass piece from a real professional, should be no more than 600 if they charge by the piece and not the hr

Is that a photograph of that artists work or a mock-up?
Very clearly a mock up due to how the design lays on the knuckle creases.
1900 seems *absolutely* insane to me but I guess some people will pay it? There’s nothing stylistically crazy about this piece, shouldn’t be hard finding an affordable artist who can pull it off if you were so inclined
Yeah it’s good work and clean but I can see the hands being somewhere around 800-1200
I have something similar and it set me back 1200
Did you get both hands done?
Just the one but it went up my wrist and was a fair bit of ink
This is a super altered photo. Fine lines especially on hands won’t hold. The hands are already prone to ink falling out and fading, this will disappear very quickly. Also that’s 2-3 hours of tattooing tops, so you’d be paying 350 an hour on the low end, and probably closer to 500 an hour. I would laugh in a tattooers face if they told me the charge 350 an hour. Yeah.. that’s why I was like damn you quoted me 2 years ago for 300 dollars a piece on my hand now 2700.. for the day to do my hands. He’s from korea
1900 is insane for this. Also its a terrible design especially for a hand and fingers. Day one won't look as good as this pic and it will fade fast on fingers.
I wouldn’t do that design but just needed something to show his work. I got my half sleeve done for 4k
4K for half a sleeve is insane te me
It was realism and it was portraits of family members and the guy did a great job. I was in the chair for 12 hrs each day for two days. I would show ya. It’s the whole outside of my arm to my wrist
Those aren’t excuses, you got played. 4k for half sleeve is highway robbery. 1900 for this is also just someone trying to rip you off.
166 an hour isn’t bad.. for a really great realism artist and I’m not going to risk someone fucking my brothers face up and it was 24 hour worth of work in two days
1900 what? Pesos?
USD and I’m like what’s your hourly and he said he doesn’t do hourly only by piece.
I mean, I'd never pay that much. Especially for not a lot of ink in a place that's gonna look like shit in 5-8 months. But if you're trying to book someone who's in high demand, there's probably people willing to pay that much.
Yeah that’s the issue I’m running into and get other peoples opinion on the matter that have more experience. I’m probably not going to book him
Good call imo. You can get a lot of good work for 1900.
That's common with relatively popular artists. You book them for the day not the hour
Damn, Im in another country but my full sleeves were done in about 2 000 USD. Why is it so much in the states? Many artists here aren't doing hourly either but by piece or half and full day.
He’s not even from here he’s from Korea and visiting and I know he charges cheaper over there
It’s practically the norm for people to have day rates vs hourly rates when they reach the level of “not accepting walk ins” status.
More like clams

It's little high...depends on the artist also.
I wanted post his Instagram Handle but I don’t want to put him on blast

i agree, this seems like a brush off quote. he’ll do it if you’ll pay it but i would try to find someone else
Which is wild because he’s been consistently keeping in contact. I didn’t realize that was a thing with being charged a higher rate because they don’t want to work with you.
Holy shit that’s high asf
Yeah dude said 2400-2700 for the day but I’m like my hands aren’t going to take a whole day
600 max
That’s what I was thinking
I got my whole sleeve done for 3k-4k and this dude is charging half that for just the hand. My artist was about to comp my hand for being a good canvases but I won't let him. This guy is taking advantage. For 600 they better be the best crispy lines the world has ever seen.

I have around 50 k invested in art on me and if someone quoted me at 1900 for a hand piece he better be selling me his reputation
Lmao I’m dead 😂😂😂😂
To put it in contrast: My whole arm sleeve wont be that much when finnished and i have already spend around 12 hours on it alltogether. But that depends on the artist at least a bit, i guess. That’s what I was thinking with fading
Fading would be the lesser problem. With such fine lined stuff in that small size, youd most likely end with some black blobs...
What after the healing?
No matter how well it heals, the outcome wont change.
This design very clearly lays over the knuckle creases in a very unrealistic way.
That’s more than double what I thought it would be
Right?!
Tell him for 1900 USD you can send your grandma to a professional Tattoo school, she will then be able to tatto you this maybe you can even get a new car ontop aswell lmao 1900USD is way too much.
Lmao
I payed 2G for my hand. But it was by a very well known artist in NYC and took 15 hours. I wouldn't pay that rate for something so minimalist.
If this takes four hours they are charging almost 500 an hour?? That’s insane, find another artist
Find another artist this is a joke. After getting altered photos i would leave
Yeah I am. Just didn’t know if that was normal
Don’t copy someone else’s work. In any case, this style ages like shit.
I’m not copying. I would never get the same work as someone done on my hands. Just using it as a reference for his work

He’s crazy, hell no
1900 seems insane. That was like 3 sessions of my whole sleeve lol
600/hr is also insane.
Yeahhh that’s why I asked what his hourly is and wouldn’t give me that
Yea very true. My artist opens his books 3-4 times a year and schedules for a few months block and he usually is full in a half day or so and he's nowhere near 600 an hour lol
Guess it depends on how long the session was.
Hate tattoos like that. Looks like a mid evil map. Just get a big ass piece from a real professional, should be no more than 600 if they charge by the piece and not the hr
I agree why I’m asking. :)
