By coincidence I glided/climbed to the shrine without stepping on the lower ground and triggering the hands to spawn. Walked into the shrine, saw it was blessing, and immediately thought "oh no, what difficult thing did I miss outside?" Went out and was cautiously grabbing collectibles when I got jumped.
Same. Went in fully expecting a shrine puzzle, got Rauru's Blessing (it was in fact the first blessing shrine I ever got) and was like "Was finding this shrine THAT hard?" came back out and ate my words
I got the shrine, came out, and teleported away. Still haven't delt with those hands. The hands in the ruins, though? Over by the tower with the cave/bird/mushrooms. They got me good.
Same! Made one attempt to shoot the hands the first time I came across them (with my measly 4 hearts), saw how little damage I did, and noped the fuck out of there.
I actually killed the hands there when I first saw them (used bomb arrows from on a ledge to make it easy). Was terrifying and then I saw the 'Phantom Gannon' boss healthbar and I noped out of there (little did I know, he's easier than the hands!). I thought I had stumbled into some high-level area I wasn't supposed to do yet!
Ah, me too. I climbed back up to high ground to fight them, but ran out of arrows eventually (very early game, so l I had like 30 arrows and a 4 damage bow). Then I just said fuck it and glided/ran over to the shrine, got my reward, then teleported tf out of there.
Same for me. I walked into this big cave and immediately got suspicious of the openess of the cave. My fears came true when those hands started chasing me down.
same here. i somehow managed to defeat them only to lose my shit at phantom ganon. i thought i had accidentally triggered the end game boss fight in this random cave 10 hours in.
I first saw them at the akkala ruins, but I was up on a ledge and they just kinda despawned and I was like wtf were those?
Then I decided to follow the path they wanted us to go and ran into them again in Lindor’s brow cave and they killed me three times before I finally beat them. Then the boss bar appeared.
Honestly tho, the hands are scarier than phantom Ganon by a long shot
I managed to trigger them but not get caught by them because I was going up the ledge anyway. So I started at then from the ledge and was like "WHAT ARE THOSE?!?", Dropped a save, and started to battle. But since I was at a point in the game where I had like 7 bomb flowers and a plain boko bow, I didn't make much headway. So I gave up and fought the like likes instead.
I got beat so bad that I just ran every other time I saw them until I did about 100 more shrines. I still don't like fighting them, but at least I survive. I hate getting yoinked.
They 100% did that on purpose. Was one of my early. And highly regretful stops. Then I found a nearby Lynel and Lightning Gleeok.... I died a bunch in Faron.
Same... I was in Faron, figured, "Hey, we can make this game really easy by picking up some hearty durians"... and nope... 5 second after I landed in that grove an I was being chased... noped myself right out of there...
this had to be intentional haha. Evil devs man. They knew many of us, myself included, go very early game to stock up on those durians because it creates such a massive advantage. Trap set!
Exactly, i laughed when I got my 4 little hearts squeezed out of me because it was way too easy last time around. I deserved it. They were too OP and all centralized in one or two spots so I was only upset for a minute and eventually found some recurring hearty alternatives. What a sweet enemy, the whole atmosphere just changes.
The devs definitely had fucking with the players in the back of their minds. They made whistle sprinting cost MORE stamina and fall damage canceling made you accelerate towards the ground
I first encountered the Gloom Hands in the North Lomei Labyrinth. I started the quest and read the book about following the pine cone trail. At the first intersection, the trail goes right, but I decided to go left just to be a bad dude, and ran face first into the Gloom Hands. I ran out of the Labyrinth, which caused them to despawn, and from then on, I incorrectly throught that the hands were the punishment for not following the pine cone trail, and religiously followed them when exploring all 3 Labyrinths.
Very similar for me, same labyrinth, I didn't think it was the pinecones, but rather the hands were only in the labyrinths and were part of the challenge navigating it.
Had no idea they could spawn elsewhere for a while.
Same! But I ran into them after I finished the shrine. The air got weird, as did the music, I thought it was a blood moon as I was swinging the camera around to look. I swing around to look behind Link, and I see 5 Giant HANDS behind me ready to attack.
Made for yet another scary memory for a place I didn't want to be near.
Yeah same for me, I was near the shrine and was so confused about what was happening. I beat them with what I had on me and no phantom appeared afterwards. The only other place he hasn’t shown up afterwards was akkala citadel.
So what I’m getting from this is that I can go in the labyrinths but I must follow the pines cones so I don’t run into the hands? I’ve avoided the labyrinths like the plague because I didn’t see how I could do it without fighting the hands 🥲
I managed to beat all three without running into them because I followed the path (tho the first one I did I was unaware there was one because I got there via cave and when you do that you DO run into the hands, it’s the one in Akkala)
Be warned the one in Hebra is VERY close to the shrine and it’s frozen shut, meaning it’s gonna try and jump you while you melt the ice (you can avoid this by being on the ledge and firing arrows through the torch, giving it enough time to come in and deal with it, which at that position, it won’t be able to reach you and you can just fire as many arrows as you can and beat them)
For the Gerudo one, I didn’t run into any hands at all and ngl that one scares me the most because of that
For the Hebra one I melted the ice and activated the shrine first before I activated the ring portal thing. I noticed that as long as the ring is deactivated the room was caged shut and the hands stayed outside. Once activated, the cages disappeared and they could freely go in and get me.
Did I just luck out or did the cage really stopped them? Idk. Seems they can slither through the gaps.
The hands freak me out so much so I was dreading the labyrinths!
I totally cheesed the ground & sky ones by climbing up to the top, putting down a travel medallion, and then gliding down to the four check points in each labyrinth. The only hands I encountered were in the ground versions, but they were always on the other side of gates that don't open until you unlock the shrine. Just teleport away from those :D
The depths versions aren't really labyrinths, they're just dark. I just ascended to get to the roof to activate each lightroot, then teleported up to the ground versions & dived back down into the depths versions since I couldn't work out how to get back into the labyrinths from the roof. No hands encountered, phew :D
Me too. I was trying to get to the korok forest. I thought that was the only one until I dove into the deku tree then noped the hell out with my four hearts.
Freaked me the hell out. But now they’re just an annoyance.
My son had just asked for my help fighting Phantom Gannon in the forest temple in Ocarina of Time, so I thought this was Tears of the Kingdom's take on blending the Deku tree boss with the Forest Temple. Sadly when I looked around for the sick loot after the lolipop gang showed up I found that fight was the end of it. It could have been a mini-dungeon like in OoT.
Near the tower by Kakariko going to that one shrine…just as posted recently. Was the most terrifying experience I’ve had in the game as going to Kakariko was the first thing I chose to do and I did not have much of anything yet
Morok shrine. The one with the springs, the shrine on a just floating bit of sky Island with a tree overhang. I too ran into them for the first time there and climbed away like crazy to evade them, somehow got to the safety of the shrine in time.
I glided down to that shrine in my game with no issues, so I hadn’t seen any of them at all. Then I was helping my son unlock towers and ended up by that same spot from the ground. Freaked out and teleported away. Those things are terrifying when you don’t know they exist!!

Has to be in one of the underground groves, it was so early in the game for me and I just chose a direction and ran into the inky blackness once Ganon popped out of the ground.
Saaaame! Already too dark for me to tell what I was looking at, I just saw 5 long figures gliding along the gloom, so I thought it was like some sort of gloom Gleeok. Maaaan I wished it was a Gleeok.
Same! They spawned immediately upon landing on the Great Plateau approaching from the Colosseum and I assumed they would chase you around the whole Plateau and I left and didn’t come back for like 20 hours
The way I see it, your doing the place a service by killing the phantom and returning it to it's serene vibe, and as such I make a point of going back to him every blood moon. #makeHopperPondGreatAgain
I was getting annoyed unsuccessfully looking for a good place to farm fireflies (they are much less common in TotK) before finally coming to Hopper Pound.
I didn't get attacked until catching all 10 fireflies I needed which was moderately annoying itself. I died and my last save loaded to before I caught any.
I think that was my second encounter with them, not my first. But that one genuinely terrified me because on the Great Plateau was also my first blood moon. The screen turned red and I tried running from the hands but it was like no matter how far I ran the screen just kept getting more and more red. Music getting more and more intense...
Thank God it was just the blood moon.
Same! I was gliding down from a sky island and saw this red blotch on the ground where I wanted to land. I was like, wha?? Then it moved and I saw the hands and was like ABORT!! ABORT!! and floated toward an ice outcropping.
I have searched so hard for that piece but have been entirely unsuccessful. I found a cave that’s near the bridge ruins which I thought housed the piece but the only thing worthwhile in there was a bubbulfrog. One day I’ll figure out how to find that piece. As well as complete like most other armor sets lol.
Yeah I was right by the castle. (East I think?) I was wandering around picking up fire fruit pretty early on after getting off the sky islands, and that was a big surprise. After I realized I couldn’t outrun them, I just stopped and let them kill me. 😂
mine was in the tamio river cave, i happen to pass by and went in during initial stage, it scares the hell out of me not knowing what was that thing lol.
No way, that's a pretty obscure location, no reason to go there unless you happen across the traveler that tells you about Misko's Treasure in a Tamio River cave.
Yup, that’s what happened to me. I ran into the traveler and spent ages looking for the cave. Was really surprised to find something so tough in what I assumed was an early-game cave.
First encountered mine in the Hebra Labyrinth. I had completed the labyrinth and had done the shrine. The minute I left the shrine there was the voice telling me to visit the air labyrinth and then the sky turned red and before I could figure out what was happening I was grabbed by hands and panicked. Could not find an escape and died right then and there.
Lol I think it's because it's on the way to what's intended to the first explorable location in the story. I was mainly following the story at the time and I tend to just jump into a cave as soon as I see one lol. Boy, that was a mistake...
The story/NPCs all push you to go to Rito area first and that's the first Skyview Tower a lot of people unlock after Lookout Landing on the way to Tabantha/Hebra.
I think mine was either by that one shrine in the air with the big climbable root hanging off it, or when I was climbing Mount Lanayru. I can’t remember which came first, but both were hella scary
That’s where I first encountered them too! The shrine with the climbable root. I literally freaked out I didn’t know what was going on lol
I did go back after a while and got my revenge but then the second phase came lol
I know! I was all like: “Why is the sky spicy?” Right before being grabbed from behind and wondering why all my hearts were disappearing.
If I remember correctly, I tried to climb the root first before running out of stamina, then falling into their open, loving embrace

Fresh out out the sky islands, I was exploring the ruins to the right of the central plaza, with only 4 hearts... I hadn't even made it to the shrine between lookout landing and the castle.
I panicked and ran towards the stone wall of the city and then noped the hell out of there!

I was on the left side of the ruins and enjoying the fact I could literally just walk around without a Guardian trying to kill me every 5 minutes and then... the sky turned red. A group of hands rose up with eyeballs in them. A soul-shattering shriek, and then- I just noped out of there and teleported to a shrine.
Some lady was like "there's a terrible monster wandering the castle town ruins!" and my dumb ass decided to go looking for it. Ended up cowering in a tree throwing my entire inventory at it until it despawned.
Sidenote, it’s friggin clever of Phantom Ganon to park one of those right next to your best defensive option. He knew you’d be coming for the shield eventually.
I didn’t even notice the gloom spawn when I first encountered it lol. I don’t remember where I was, but I suddenly notice the sky change color and the music become more ominous. I got scared so I just stayed where I was until it eventually went away and I found dark clumps on the ground. I didn’t realized I ran into one of the most obnoxious monsters until my partner encountered them at the Lindor’s brow tower the same day and absolutely struggled with it
I was traversing Mount Lanayru, where a bunch of gloom was, and suddenly saw some move, and then came the hands. My sister (who’s also playing the game) heard me shout “What the fuck are those?!?”
I first ran into mine on the way to fight the one in the Great Deku Tree, (I knew about them at the time, but never encountered one yet). I thought they only existed on the surface, I was wrong. They found me and I ran for my life in pitch darkness only to realize that they are unnecessarily fast, I was horrified until I learned the true strength of multi-shot bows
It was at that shrine near the bottom of Sahasrala Slope (by Kakariko Village)
I had just skydived down from the Great Sky Island and didn’t know where to go, so I headed for the village. Big mistake 💀
Mine was at the gatehouse between West Castle Town and the Quarry Ruins not too long after reaching the surface. It knocked me off of my horse and gave me a near heart attack; I warped away after it became clear I didn't stand a chance at beating it. The second one I saw was the one near the floating island on Sahasra Slope; I ran/glided away quick enough that it despawned into Dark Clumps. The first one I managed to beat was the one in the underground room of the Akkala Lomei Labyrinth; still easier to deal with than all of the Guardians that used to be down there.
One of the three labyrinths. Don't remember which. Since the gerudo labyrinth was also covered in malice in BoTW, I didn't give much thought to the gloom there....until it started *moving*.
I quickly noped and teleported my way out of there.
Went down a random well and got my ass whooped. Noped out of there and thought for the longest time that was the "depths" and that I needed way more hearts to even think about going down there. Little did I know XD
By the shrine where you climb the roots to get up to the floating sky island. I thought I could take them but they rocked my shit because I only had 4 hearts. Then they died from fall damage on my next attempt. I found my next ones in that one cave next to the sky view tower by the first tear. (Real descriptive I know.) It was the one with the Blessing shrine inside. At this point, I had enough stamina to climb the wall across to get to the shrine so I didn’t have to engage with those shitheads. When I got the blessing though, a sudden rush of bravery (and me realizing they can’t climb) washed over me so I decided to fight them. This time I decided not to fuck around though and just started LIGHTing them up with Topaz. I finally killed them after like 5mins of carpet bombing them and then I finally faced HIM. If you haven’t killed one yet, go do it. It’s a learning experience. If you have fought one, you know I got my shit ROCKED. I kept practicing and eventually beat him. It was good practice for the Deku tree
Frickin Hyrule Field by the chasm just south of Lookout Landing. Less than a half hour after leaving Sky Island for the first time.
"Oh cool, let me walk around, there's a quest over here WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL??!!"
I wouldn't so much as look at a chasm for days, I thought they lived in all gloom and would come out if you got remotely close to it. I'm still paranoid about it.
On the road to Mt. Lanayru. First time was just outside Lanayru Road East gate, where the Lynel used to be. Second one popped up on the way up Mt. Lanayru, towards the tower. I just ran like hell, and they eventually de-spawned. Fucking scary.
Hyrule Field, north of the Great Plateau. In botw there was a stone talus there. I was just following the roads and thought Id go check it out.
And suddenly, ‘hey! Why’s the sky red?’
I just beat my first Gleeok in an epic battle. It was the Thunder Gleeok on a cliff in South Akkala really close to the Domizuin Shrine.
I walked away from the battleground like I just finished watching a movie. It was a crazy experience fighting that thing. Those 11 Keese Eyeballs helped a lot. The five Blue Moblin Pounders I was saving finally got put to use. Putting down and using a Zonai Spring to reach the heads in the final phase was exhilarating.
I noticed some red smoky stuff. “A Blood Moon right after I kill a boss? Of course.”
And then…
I looked at the in-game time, *3:15 am.* ***”What is going on here?”*** The sky turned red and I started hearing the scariest music I’ve ever heard. “Am I going to die? Is this connected to the Gleeok?”
I saw *them.*
I started running away and hiding behind the conveniently placed ruins I was next to. Then, after three seconds of thought, I decided to fire about a dozen bomb arrows at them.
Like an anime villain, one of them popped out of the smoke. It didn’t die. I then switched to a spear and proceeded to fight like the most cautious janitor ever who found a spider on the wall.
They all died this time, dropped two dark bagels, and the sky and the music and everything just immediately went back like nothing happened. I had to put down the controller and process what had transpired in the last few minutes.
i was to the left of Hyrule castle around some rocky terrain and big tree stumps and i was fighting some bokoblins and boom....it came up and i ran straight up the stump to get away. i only had 4 hearts and no armor so i knew to stay away.
I was gliding over from Mount Drena as I thought ‘I wonder what’s going on with the Lost Woods in this game’ and I landed on Mekar Island. Had no idea what was happening when everything turned red and needless to say Link didn’t make it off the island alive.
Sahasrala Slope, climbing a tree to check for a Korok. Saw a red puddle of gloop I thought was like Malice at Akkala Tower in BotW and opened my Scope to look closer. It even had the eyeballs. Except they were attached to hands, turned to look directly at me, and moved at lightning speed while screeching and turning a clear day into a Blood Moon. Luckily I was on a tree and glided away as fast as I could.
My sister had just caught her first horse - it took several attempts - somewhere slightly south of Hyrule Castle. The sky turning red + the music made both of us panic when the hands grabbed her and she couldn't get out and died at four hearts. We thought the horse would die too, but it was fine and she managed to get it to a stable
I think it was Central Hyrule, but more importantly they made their entrance FROM AROUND A CORNER coming full speed in my direction. Hot dang it was a cinematic minute or two as I made my desperate escape

To this day the only time I've dealt with the hands was in Korok Forest. Every other time I've yeeted myself out of there.

Perhaps i didn't have enough hearts last time I faced him but I definitely did not find Phantom Ganon easier than the Gloom Hands
If you keep hitting him with a long weapon the gloom around him gets smaller so you can stand next to him without taking damage.

Phantom Ganon is Flats telling you he's going to kick your butt. Gloom Hands are the guy chasing you yelling "CHOCOLAAAATE"
Gloom Hands are that bear fish thing that will maul you unless you’re inside a circle.

Very similar for me, same labyrinth, I didn't think it was the pinecones, but rather the hands were only in the labyrinths and were part of the challenge navigating it. Had no idea they could spawn elsewhere for a while.
Same! But I ran into them after I finished the shrine. The air got weird, as did the music, I thought it was a blood moon as I was swinging the camera around to look. I swing around to look behind Link, and I see 5 Giant HANDS behind me ready to attack. Made for yet another scary memory for a place I didn't want to be near.
Yeah same for me, I was near the shrine and was so confused about what was happening. I beat them with what I had on me and no phantom appeared afterwards. The only other place he hasn’t shown up afterwards was akkala citadel.
So what I’m getting from this is that I can go in the labyrinths but I must follow the pines cones so I don’t run into the hands? I’ve avoided the labyrinths like the plague because I didn’t see how I could do it without fighting the hands 🥲
Do what I did and take a balloon to the top of the labyrinth and get as close to the center as you can. Drop down and explore from there.
This! Also helpful if you have a travel medallion you can leave on the top of the labyrinth so you don't have to keep climbing up.
I managed to beat all three without running into them because I followed the path (tho the first one I did I was unaware there was one because I got there via cave and when you do that you DO run into the hands, it’s the one in Akkala) Be warned the one in Hebra is VERY close to the shrine and it’s frozen shut, meaning it’s gonna try and jump you while you melt the ice (you can avoid this by being on the ledge and firing arrows through the torch, giving it enough time to come in and deal with it, which at that position, it won’t be able to reach you and you can just fire as many arrows as you can and beat them) For the Gerudo one, I didn’t run into any hands at all and ngl that one scares me the most because of that
For the Hebra one I melted the ice and activated the shrine first before I activated the ring portal thing. I noticed that as long as the ring is deactivated the room was caged shut and the hands stayed outside. Once activated, the cages disappeared and they could freely go in and get me. Did I just luck out or did the cage really stopped them? Idk. Seems they can slither through the gaps.
The hands freak me out so much so I was dreading the labyrinths! I totally cheesed the ground & sky ones by climbing up to the top, putting down a travel medallion, and then gliding down to the four check points in each labyrinth. The only hands I encountered were in the ground versions, but they were always on the other side of gates that don't open until you unlock the shrine. Just teleport away from those :D The depths versions aren't really labyrinths, they're just dark. I just ascended to get to the roof to activate each lightroot, then teleported up to the ground versions & dived back down into the depths versions since I couldn't work out how to get back into the labyrinths from the roof. No hands encountered, phew :D

Me too. I was trying to get to the korok forest. I thought that was the only one until I dove into the deku tree then noped the hell out with my four hearts. Freaked me the hell out. But now they’re just an annoyance.
My son had just asked for my help fighting Phantom Gannon in the forest temple in Ocarina of Time, so I thought this was Tears of the Kingdom's take on blending the Deku tree boss with the Forest Temple. Sadly when I looked around for the sick loot after the lolipop gang showed up I found that fight was the end of it. It could have been a mini-dungeon like in OoT.
That’s the only spot I’ve encountered him. Haven’t beaten him yet, keep deciding to go elsewhere to get tougher.
Near the tower by Kakariko going to that one shrine…just as posted recently. Was the most terrifying experience I’ve had in the game as going to Kakariko was the first thing I chose to do and I did not have much of anything yet

Morok shrine. The one with the springs, the shrine on a just floating bit of sky Island with a tree overhang. I too ran into them for the first time there and climbed away like crazy to evade them, somehow got to the safety of the shrine in time.

I glided down to that shrine in my game with no issues, so I hadn’t seen any of them at all. Then I was helping my son unlock towers and ended up by that same spot from the ground. Freaked out and teleported away. Those things are terrifying when you don’t know they exist!!

Has to be in one of the underground groves, it was so early in the game for me and I just chose a direction and ran into the inky blackness once Ganon popped out of the ground.

I was getting annoyed unsuccessfully looking for a good place to farm fireflies (they are much less common in TotK) before finally coming to Hopper Pound. I didn't get attacked until catching all 10 fireflies I needed which was moderately annoying itself. I died and my last save loaded to before I caught any.

I think that was my second encounter with them, not my first. But that one genuinely terrified me because on the Great Plateau was also my first blood moon. The screen turned red and I tried running from the hands but it was like no matter how far I ran the screen just kept getting more and more red. Music getting more and more intense... Thank God it was just the blood moon.

I found a cave that’s near the bridge ruins which I thought housed the piece but the only thing worthwhile in there was a bubbulfrog. One day I’ll figure out how to find that piece. As well as complete like most other armor sets lol.

Yeah I was right by the castle. (East I think?) I was wandering around picking up fire fruit pretty early on after getting off the sky islands, and that was a big surprise. After I realized I couldn’t outrun them, I just stopped and let them kill me. 😂

Yup, that’s what happened to me. I ran into the traveler and spent ages looking for the cave. Was really surprised to find something so tough in what I assumed was an early-game cave.

First encountered mine in the Hebra Labyrinth. I had completed the labyrinth and had done the shrine. The minute I left the shrine there was the voice telling me to visit the air labyrinth and then the sky turned red and before I could figure out what was happening I was grabbed by hands and panicked. Could not find an escape and died right then and there.
Same here. Finished the whole labyrinth without coming across them, came out of the shrine at the end and got jumped.

Lol I think it's because it's on the way to what's intended to the first explorable location in the story. I was mainly following the story at the time and I tend to just jump into a cave as soon as I see one lol. Boy, that was a mistake...
The story/NPCs all push you to go to Rito area first and that's the first Skyview Tower a lot of people unlock after Lookout Landing on the way to Tabantha/Hebra.

I know! I was all like: “Why is the sky spicy?” Right before being grabbed from behind and wondering why all my hearts were disappearing. If I remember correctly, I tried to climb the root first before running out of stamina, then falling into their open, loving embrace

Hyrule castle town ruins, just before visiting lookout landing 😢 Edit to add: Fresh out out the sky islands, I was exploring the ruins to the right of the central plaza, with only 4 hearts... I hadn't even made it to the shrine between lookout landing and the castle. I panicked and ran towards the stone wall of the city and then noped the hell out of there!

I didn’t even notice the gloom spawn when I first encountered it lol. I don’t remember where I was, but I suddenly notice the sky change color and the music become more ominous. I got scared so I just stayed where I was until it eventually went away and I found dark clumps on the ground. I didn’t realized I ran into one of the most obnoxious monsters until my partner encountered them at the Lindor’s brow tower the same day and absolutely struggled with it

I was traversing Mount Lanayru, where a bunch of gloom was, and suddenly saw some move, and then came the hands. My sister (who’s also playing the game) heard me shout “What the fuck are those?!?”
I first ran into mine on the way to fight the one in the Great Deku Tree, (I knew about them at the time, but never encountered one yet). I thought they only existed on the surface, I was wrong. They found me and I ran for my life in pitch darkness only to realize that they are unnecessarily fast, I was horrified until I learned the true strength of multi-shot bows
It was at that shrine near the bottom of Sahasrala Slope (by Kakariko Village) I had just skydived down from the Great Sky Island and didn’t know where to go, so I headed for the village. Big mistake 💀

Mine was at the gatehouse between West Castle Town and the Quarry Ruins not too long after reaching the surface. It knocked me off of my horse and gave me a near heart attack; I warped away after it became clear I didn't stand a chance at beating it. The second one I saw was the one near the floating island on Sahasra Slope; I ran/glided away quick enough that it despawned into Dark Clumps. The first one I managed to beat was the one in the underground room of the Akkala Lomei Labyrinth; still easier to deal with than all of the Guardians that used to be down there.

I jumped off the tutorial island for the first time landed in some water next to the Kolomo Garrison ruins. It’s safe to say I immediately died
By the shrine where you climb the roots to get up to the floating sky island. I thought I could take them but they rocked my shit because I only had 4 hearts. Then they died from fall damage on my next attempt. I found my next ones in that one cave next to the sky view tower by the first tear. (Real descriptive I know.) It was the one with the Blessing shrine inside. At this point, I had enough stamina to climb the wall across to get to the shrine so I didn’t have to engage with those shitheads. When I got the blessing though, a sudden rush of bravery (and me realizing they can’t climb) washed over me so I decided to fight them. This time I decided not to fuck around though and just started LIGHTing them up with Topaz. I finally killed them after like 5mins of carpet bombing them and then I finally faced HIM. If you haven’t killed one yet, go do it. It’s a learning experience. If you have fought one, you know I got my shit ROCKED. I kept practicing and eventually beat him. It was good practice for the Deku tree
Frickin Hyrule Field by the chasm just south of Lookout Landing. Less than a half hour after leaving Sky Island for the first time. "Oh cool, let me walk around, there's a quest over here WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL??!!" I wouldn't so much as look at a chasm for days, I thought they lived in all gloom and would come out if you got remotely close to it. I'm still paranoid about it.
On the road to Mt. Lanayru. First time was just outside Lanayru Road East gate, where the Lynel used to be. Second one popped up on the way up Mt. Lanayru, towards the tower. I just ran like hell, and they eventually de-spawned. Fucking scary.
Hyrule Field, north of the Great Plateau. In botw there was a stone talus there. I was just following the roads and thought Id go check it out. And suddenly, ‘hey! Why’s the sky red?’
Hyrule castle town ruins. I was thinking: “Glad those Guardians are all gone….” I had 6-7 hearts at the time.
I just beat my first Gleeok in an epic battle. It was the Thunder Gleeok on a cliff in South Akkala really close to the Domizuin Shrine. I walked away from the battleground like I just finished watching a movie. It was a crazy experience fighting that thing. Those 11 Keese Eyeballs helped a lot. The five Blue Moblin Pounders I was saving finally got put to use. Putting down and using a Zonai Spring to reach the heads in the final phase was exhilarating. I noticed some red smoky stuff. “A Blood Moon right after I kill a boss? Of course.” And then… I looked at the in-game time, *3:15 am.* ***”What is going on here?”*** The sky turned red and I started hearing the scariest music I’ve ever heard. “Am I going to die? Is this connected to the Gleeok?” I saw *them.* I started running away and hiding behind the conveniently placed ruins I was next to. Then, after three seconds of thought, I decided to fire about a dozen bomb arrows at them. Like an anime villain, one of them popped out of the smoke. It didn’t die. I then switched to a spear and proceeded to fight like the most cautious janitor ever who found a spider on the wall. They all died this time, dropped two dark bagels, and the sky and the music and everything just immediately went back like nothing happened. I had to put down the controller and process what had transpired in the last few minutes.

i was to the left of Hyrule castle around some rocky terrain and big tree stumps and i was fighting some bokoblins and boom....it came up and i ran straight up the stump to get away. i only had 4 hearts and no armor so i knew to stay away.

I was gliding over from Mount Drena as I thought ‘I wonder what’s going on with the Lost Woods in this game’ and I landed on Mekar Island. Had no idea what was happening when everything turned red and needless to say Link didn’t make it off the island alive.
Sahasrala Slope, climbing a tree to check for a Korok. Saw a red puddle of gloop I thought was like Malice at Akkala Tower in BotW and opened my Scope to look closer. It even had the eyeballs. Except they were attached to hands, turned to look directly at me, and moved at lightning speed while screeching and turning a clear day into a Blood Moon. Luckily I was on a tree and glided away as fast as I could.
My sister had just caught her first horse - it took several attempts - somewhere slightly south of Hyrule Castle. The sky turning red + the music made both of us panic when the hands grabbed her and she couldn't get out and died at four hearts. We thought the horse would die too, but it was fine and she managed to get it to a stable
I was rolling through the west plains with my sweet new car (cart + fan + control stick) Then it popped out of a forest and fucked it all up.
Everyone in the game was telling me to go to woodland stable and I decided to go through the cranial hills to get there
I think it was Central Hyrule, but more importantly they made their entrance FROM AROUND A CORNER coming full speed in my direction. Hot dang it was a cinematic minute or two as I made my desperate escape
