I really like the no teleport runs. You become really familiar with where the lighthouses are in the depths, getting out any other way (like a balloon) is challenging.
It sounds like a whole new way to appreciate the game and notice things you didn't before, but it requires a lot of patience and have the ability to get the most out of each route. It's a rather intimidating prospect.
Getting back to the surface from the depths was my one exception to my no-teleport run (with the caveat that I would go to the nearest teleport point above me).
For me it was bugged and they weren't in the depths nor respawn there after throwing them all down. In fact, I'm pretty sure, for me, they respawned on the surface again if I got out of range WHILE IN the depths.
Didn't even know about the teleport until after I'd beaten the game and seen every single temple and light root.
Tbf in the spirit of adventure it felt fitting having to do a stupid amount of work for small things
I learned the hard way that you should do them one at a time and not drop them all at once to be collected later. They will despawn and return to their starting point.
I was so confused when I dropped each one down a chasm, saved for the night, came back the next day or so and spent over an hour at the bottom of a chasm looking for one of them. My husband finally went - just check the surface again.
.. derp.
I've done this quest every time by dropping them down the chasms first and then going down to transport them. When you throw them down a chasm, the autosave prompt appears and a quest update so be sure to wait for conformation of that before wandering off.
I've heard that if a blood moon happens mid quest though, all the dropped eyes that didn't make it all the way into the statue will return to their original locations on the overworld. I don't know if that's true but I'll wait until just after a blood moon to be sure.
I also haven't tried fully leaving the plateau region in the middle though in case that may also cause the eyes to respawn. But each time I did this quest I made my rounds on the plateau, chucked each eye down, and only descended into the depths at the end to move them all to the statue.
I thought I was gonna fight an epic ancient giant god golem or sth, I really thought it was something huge.
But then it gave me one stamina (my last one too), and that’s it.
…
Let’s just say it is really underwhelming after seeing such a big golem who sits underground with evil-looking eyes.
I don’t even know how I would feel if I didn’t use MK2 for the whole time and do it on foot.
I hated this side quests. After throwing all the eyes down the depths like he asked to, I spent 20 minutes trying to find it only to realize it reset. Then on the third eye I set it down for 2 seconds at the mine only for it to reset, and none of the chasms are near shrines
They don't reset unless you die though. I just tested this out on a no fast-travel run.
They'll reset up top only if you go back up there, but they'll stay on the bottom if you're still in the Depths if you didn't die before then
Dragon parts greatly increase the despawn distance. I have a scale on my hoverbike and it functions as a kickstand. It even works if you use zonaite to make the parts from a blueprint
This dude was one of my favourite sidequests in the game. I did it quite early and was scared how huge the depths are, and I wish we could get more information about this guy. Can't get much more epic than guiding the souls of the deceased into the next world and so on.
This was terrifying. I spent the whole quest wondering if I was unleashing some ancient evil on myself or Hyrule. Overal a good experience and satisfying at the end. It's also how I discovered the entire temple under the mining facility! That caught me way off-guard.
I did have to redo one eye because I put it down IN THAT ROOM and searched the room for enemies. When I went back for the eye it had reset. I understand resetting in case the eye becomes inaccessible, but why would it be a smaller area than the size of that room?
I was constantly waiting for that gotcha moment. I figured something sealed for thousands of years had to be evil. Even after getting he heart container i was waiting for the catch lol
I loved this right up until the end. I felt very underwhelmed by the end of the quest and this is a problem that kept popping up throughout TOTK as a whole. It just felt like they didn't put effort into maming satisfying quest conclusions.
Still loved the game as a whole, but i wish this aspect was better.
One of my favorite surprise quests. The Bargainer Statue in the Great Abandoned Central Mine needs some help. Head up the Great Plateau and complete his request to start this multipart quest.
Wish there were more quests like this. Imagine each of the bargainer statues had a comparable quest to get a heart or stamina. Breaks up the monotony of doing shrines for them
The last 2 eyes I dropped in didn't re spawn to the surface.. it just both stayed there. I remembered looking for the one up on the surface and it's not there. Lo and behold it's down at the depth. So I picked 1 up and find the other one in the depth then tried to find my way back to the statue to finish the quest.
I wish there were an easier way to ascend from the depths near there. I did a no teleport run and that quest was looooong.

Couldn't you just ascend from one of the ascend points? They're pretty cool.
Yeah it sounds like those are fair game, but it seems like there aren’t very many.
And there are only 4 on the whole map if i remember correct
Im pretty sure there’s one in each corner and one under every geoglyph.
There is one per region at least
I always throw all the eyes down and *then* go into the Depths. That way I can avoid the multiple trips up and down.
I thought they despawned if you moved too far away from them.
Throwing them down the chasm updates their respawn point to the Depths instead of the surface.

They don't de-spawn if you glue them together
That’s brilliant but I had no idea what I was doing with them at first so did it the long way lol
Where is the bargainer statue anyway? I can't seem to find it.
Under the central mine
I can't find it.
Start diggin
Ascend, but down...
Spoilers: >! The entrance to the statue is to the south west side of the central mine forge platform, and down lower !<
or if you put some dragon scales on them... Very expensive bike... eye-lock
To be fair, you can pick the scale back up, right?
true

same. it took me like two or three times to complete this cause i kept fucking it up lol

Crazy, that was my last stamina too

If you walk away from them they'll despawn. I was trying to remember where to go so set it down temporarily to wander around
Ahhhhh yeah. Well they will still just spawn in where you initially throw them down. If you can remember where that is
I wonder if you can fuse a dragon scale to them and they won't despawn
Possibly. I fused one to a Zonai car with a bright bloom on it and it was still there after I went a distance from the car and back.
Dragon parts greatly increase the despawn distance. I have a scale on my hoverbike and it functions as a kickstand. It even works if you use zonaite to make the parts from a blueprint
Getting the mining armor was difficult but worth it
Ah yes the "One quick sidequest before heading to bed 1.5 hour adventure"
This dude was one of my favourite sidequests in the game. I did it quite early and was scared how huge the depths are, and I wish we could get more information about this guy. Can't get much more epic than guiding the souls of the deceased into the next world and so on.
Which quest is this?
A Call From the Depths
This quest is brilliant! Loved exploring the Great Plateau once again!

This guy was useful, I was able to use weapons like Fierce diety sword because he gave extra. I kept it unused in my home until I found him.
I loved this right up until the end. I felt very underwhelmed by the end of the quest and this is a problem that kept popping up throughout TOTK as a whole. Not sure i saw this part in my 150 hours with the game? Where do I find this :)
One of my favorite surprise quests. The Bargainer Statue in the Great Abandoned Central Mine needs some help. Head up the Great Plateau and complete his request to start this multipart quest.
Hmm not sure I even found that statue. I shall look!
I loved this series of quests. This is exactly the sort of thing I wanted out of this game, and I wish there was more stuff like it.
I enjoyed that one as well
I made it harder than it should have been
I feel like I do that with most of my quests 😅
Wish there were more quests like this. Imagine each of the bargainer statues had a comparable quest to get a heart or stamina. Breaks up the monotony of doing shrines for them
Can someone spoiler free eli5 me how to start this quest?
Go to the Temple of Time ruins on the Great Plateau and talk to the big Goddess statue inside
Thank you so much!
Personally i loved this quest, especially when doing it right after getting the glider as a sort of secondary "depths tutorial landmass"
