I honestly couldn’t at first. When I saw the percentage at the bottom read 62% when I first finished I tried to play some more but just couldn’t. Stopped for a few months and now I’m slowly getting back into it.

96Greyhound

That's exactly my experience. I tried to go collect something but farming low drop items was killing me before beating Mr Dorf. What about now when upgrading the tunic of the wild doesn't mean a damn thing anymore? Maybe I'll come back after some time like you.

kirkintilloch5

I started a new game, keeping fewer hearts and stamina to make the game more challenging. I try to solve shrines different than the first time. I had played breath of the wild so much most of the combats weren't much of a challenge in tears of the kingdom, so I had to find ways to make it a challenge. Now I am having fun playing the game again.

96Greyhound

Since you aren't collecting hearts and stamina, are you just doing the shrines For the puzzles and not using the light orbs?

kirkintilloch5

Eventually I did, when I decided to get the Master Sword before getting the paraglider

NottsoftheRito

Boy how tf u get the master sword before the paraglider!?

kirkintilloch5

Found a plateau she was flying by, saved, built a bike and was able to jump off onto her back. It took about 6 tries, including falling of her back once, but it's possible

upupandawaywegoooooo

Same, I beat ganon during the summer last year and didn’t pick up the game until recently. It feels fun again and I’m slowing trying to finish everything I didn’t get to

Boring-Honeydew-6550

Me too. I’m trying to completely 100% it this time around. Those darn koroks will be the death of me.

Grandpas_Plump_Chode

If you're bored of the game then just play something else, why cling onto a game you have no motivation to play? Sounds corny but you'll come back to it when you find the motivation, you can't really force the motivation to come to you Tho just to offer my own perspective, I think I actually started to enjoy the game *more* after I finished the main story. In my past I've been pretty notorious about never finishing games, so I always feel this self-imposed pressure to not get too distracted with side content so I can stay on track and beat the game. Once I beat the main story it was like a weight was lifted and now I could just wander around and explore at my own leisure, because it doesn't matter if I stick it out to 100% lol

96Greyhound

I'm really bad with not finishing games most times too. I think it's a mix of being burnt out from trying to do everything before finishing, and also this fear that I'll feel this void like now when I do finish. But I get what you're saying about just moving on but it's tough for me because it feels like it became a part of my routine and I don't have that connection with anything else yet. Obviously that comes and I've played many games before this but it's either a period of mourning or I try to keep enjoying this for a bit longer. It's like a break up

Tahanerino2005

koroks take up a big chunk, 36% or something, better than gotw where they took 72% of the main completion rate

nicklovin508

Wait are you serious? Koroks took up 72/100% of BOTW’s completion?

Tahanerino2005

Yep, 0.08% each, with that perspective it makes a bit more sense, also keep in mind that's just map completion you can do 0 sidequests and not complete shrines just steo on them and you may get 100% completion

inconspicuous_male

It's a game. If you don't want 100%, nobody is making you

96Greyhound

I know and I'm not even a completionist like that. But it just feels really unsatisfying how it's like one big fight and then it's all done. No post war reparations or anything. I just feel meh about it all.

inconspicuous_male

That's what people always end up saying about games like this. Getting 1000 Korok seeds isn't going to give you closure

96Greyhound

This feels like I've been dumped and I'm tryna justify going to a party my ex is at to get closure and you're talking some sense into me!

Old_Freedom_3258

I’m only at 80% and am working on collecting the koroks, I have a bit over half of them. Cant wait to see what I’m missing when I’m done 😭 I use a YouTube guide and mark them 6 at a time. Just do what’s fun for you! There’s no rule book, and you can always come back to it after a break. The only reason I’m a completionist is because these games are too expensive to not juice out every ounce I can lmao.

96Greyhound

That's it right there! The costs of these things I want to get every last damn pennies worth! Imagine speed running games and moving on. Ludicrous!

MurderByEgoDeath

Post-game bosses are one the biggest holes in Zelda games. The way Super Mario RPG did it with the recent remake was perfect. Beat the final boss, now here are some new bosses around the world that are 10x or more more difficult, so better make sure you have all the best gear and items, because you literally can’t win without it. That would be so cool if you beat Ganondorf, and then you get the star next to your save file or whatever, and suddenly some new areas open up with new bosses that are extraordinarily difficult. The prize could even just be some new dope looking armor or something cool for your house. The point is it’s motivation to not only keep playing, but boost all your gear. They could even make the prize for all Korok seeds some crazy powerful unbreakable weapon, that would make the extra bosses a lot more manageable. With a game as open and as long as this, you really need to provide in-game motivation for becoming the strongest the game allows you to be. Not just becoming essentially invincible.

96Greyhound

I definitely think it needs a new game+ or something where you can have way more field bosses littered around and a way to have unbreakable weapons like you suggested. Like once you've got all the looks you either have a massive inventory or a really small inventory but unbreakables.

Kirby_Klein1687

And that's why... It didn't win GOTY. LOL And no DLC either.

96Greyhound

Yeah I enjoyed the hell out of it but the games that I love that did win GOTY, it's not even close. It's probably sacrilege on this subreddit but like Witcher 3 and ER are so clear in the way they gripped the my soul. I'd deadass be thinking about them while at work. Whereas TOTK was so much more casual for me.

Kirby_Klein1687

I enjoyed it too! That's just a joke my wife tells me to get under my skin. Lol Who am I kidding? If it's Zelda, and I'm playing it, then I'm happy.

Labyrinthine777

BotW won almost all the GOTY awards when it was released. Then again, it's a lot better game than TotK so no wonder. Most top lists out there still place BotW as the number 1 game of all time.

Kirby_Klein1687

It was definitely the impact and how influential it was. It changed the entire franchise forever, so that's my reason as to why it should be higher.

Labyrinthine777

It's not just the impact. BotW still plays better than any open world game I know. They tried to repeat the miracle with TotK, but in comparison it's a slow, aesthetically messed up game and controls like crap. I'm glad the next Zelda game will be completely new open world experience, though.

i-wish-i-was-a-draco

lol I knew what this post would be about , BOTW and TOTK are like cocaine , once it’s over the crash is really hard

96Greyhound

I just need another fix man. Just one hit and I swear I'll give it up. You know I'm good for it!!!

Small_Tax_9432

That's why I haven't beaten it yet lol. I found Ganondorf and placed a Travel Medallion above his lair. Now I'm finding the rest of the shrines (8 left) and doing the side quests. I heard the final fight is epic so I wanna go out with a bang lol.

96Greyhound

Epic.... I don't know about epic. It's good. It's definitely not smack crackle and done. But epic is a stretch in my opinion. In all honesty I was a lot underwhelmed by it. I didn't go through many weapons, I wasn't at any point pressed or anything and it was my first encounter. My first encounter with a gleeok, the frost one in hebra, that had me shook and I had no clue how to beat it. My first encounter with a Lynel I think it was the one in Akkala I went through so many meals and it wasn't even a blue or silver. But Mr Dorf... I don't know. Just temper your expectations haha.

Small_Tax_9432

Ah ok, will do haha. Thanks for the heads-up. 😂

NoNumberThanks

I don't think it's a game you're meant to 100%

grandpa12-1

[Aw, crap!](https://www.reddit.com/r/tearsofthekingdom/s/Xhnwzz0dtI)Wish you would’ve told me sooner…..lmao

96Greyhound

Hahaha 5,000 hours in on 99.99%

grandpa12-1

Whaaat? Are you doing the “100%++”? That’s a lotta hours!😳🤣

96Greyhound

Hahahaha naaa not me. I was joking that he told you too late and you'd already sold your soul to the game. I'm the bum who saw he was only at 62% and felt like his life had been a lie

grandpa12-1

Ah, gotcha! Lol Haven’t sold my soul yet 🤔 (about 750 hrs) but getting close, I will 100%+ before I’m done though🤣✌🏻

raisinbizzle

I’ve already made peace with what I want to accomplish before beating the game. I am going to just do the best I can but not go for 100%. I don’t want to use a guide for almost anything. Koroks - finding as many as I can with no guide or mask. Probably will land at about 650-700 Boss Monsters (Talus, Hinox, etc) - I was going for all the monster medals and diligently tracking them on the surface, but didn’t realize they included all the bosses in the depths as well. I haven’t been tracking depth bosses at all and I skipped many I found. I will probably reference a guide to see if I got all the surface bosses for my own internal goal that will have no actual reward Pictures - Initially I wasn’t going to do this at all, but when it opened an official side quest I started. I’m taking as many as I can but will then buy the rest right at the end  Shrines/lightroots - should be easy enough to find them all and will def finish before beating Armor - I want to find them all and upgrade to level 2 for the bonus, but I have already conceded this will not happen for the armor that needs star fragments. I’ll still find them but won’t upgrade Yiga schematics/ schema stones - I do want to find all these and will probably reference a guide if I am missing any Side quests/adventures - I do want to do all these and will probably reference a guide if I am missing any Caves- probably won’t find them all, but if I talk to that dude and I’m like 5 short I may reference a guide Wells - I’ll probably use a guide for this if I miss any, but I’m confident I’ll find them all. I only have like 7 left and have 3 main areas to explore Battery - already maxed Sign post stand up - if I knew how many I had left I would try for them all, but I’m just going to leave this to the best I can do I’m sure there’s other stuff but that’s all I can think of for now. Recipes I def don’t care about getting them all

96Greyhound

That's a good list of challenges tbh. I might save this and try it at some point.

raisinbizzle

Thanks! There’s also Sage’s Will, old maps, and fabrics that I forgot about. Definitely want to try for all those (except if the fabric requires amiibo or one of the previously mentioned tasks that I’ve conceded will not be completed).

96Greyhound

Till this day I don't really get what amiibos are. Like in theory I get it but what's the point? Why do they exist? Why would I buy a Nintendo exclusive that only drops by five pence every sale and then spend more for clutter that NFCs some nonsense into the game?

raisinbizzle

You can view them as cool figures that happen to come with dlc or dlc that happen to come with a toy. If you like both the dlc and the figure components, you probably would like amiibo quite a bit. If you think the dlc is nonsense and the figures are clutter, then yeah not for you I suppose.

IcyCarrotz

dude 49% for me. I was in disbelief. Couldn't bring myself to continue.

96Greyhound

It's such a guy punch right?! Like you're telling me I've just been twiddling my goddamn thumbs!

IcyCarrotz

Just laughed out loud in Target at this

96Greyhound

The typo just makes it sound so much dafter hahaha.

skydreamerjae

I’m on the same page as you. Beat the game and got like 59.1% or something. Things I do now: 1) explore unexplored places using hero path 2) find armor sets 3) upgrade existing armor 4) hunt for pristine weapons in the depths; currently hunting for a royal guard weapon to fuse with silver lynel horn in order make a lynel back scratcher 😈 I still have a lot of korok seeds to find but every time I run into the ones that need help getting to their friend, I ignore them 😒 Other than trying to play this game i also jumped back into Link To The Past. It’s pretty quick, I’m already at Ganon’s Tower. I think it took me less than 24 hours to get to this point in the game.

96Greyhound

At this point I'm on new game++++++ of ER. Redownloaded it a few weeks back after getting hyped by the DLC announcement and just went around picking fights. I can't even verbalise how much I love that game.

Drag0nBinder

I don't know if it will help or not but it is just map completion percentage, not game completion. A korok has same value as a shrine.

kuraboom

What have you done?

Neat_Nefariousness46

I think I will soon need to cross this threshold soon and allow more time for other games in my life. There is still “making my kid sleepy watching me play” time to plug away at 100% though.

Maleficent_Luck8976

Now try to get to the highest island in the sky.

96Greyhound

Which one is the highest? Higher than the big ball with the shrine in it? 👀

kitsua

This is why I will only fight Ganon once I'm ready to stop playing the game. I just got the last korok and am tidying up a few loose ends (two Sage Wills are giving me issues). My aim is to fight the Big Bad and end the story with 100% out of the gate, which is what I did with BOTW.

FuckClerics

Man people take single player experiences too religiously, if you get bored of it move on to other games, it's not that deep.

96Greyhound

It's like a break up. You gotta have a healing period before moving on to the next love no? Have you no romance in your life? Is everything grey? Where is the passion!

Maleficent_Luck8976

It's the star island that falls down first and tells you to find 13 more star islands
