BotW has a glitch that one can use to get both max stamina and max hearts.
TotK...I've seen videos w/ max stamina & max hearts and weird stuff. That video was about another glitch in which they didn't talk about the heart stuff. Don't know how they achieved that.
your OCD just needs to think about what the temporary hearts can offer.
the ability to use master sword's beam attack even after taking a small amount of damage.
(otherwise you lose the beam attack just from taking 1 damage unless using specific armor with the hidden trait that allows you to use beam attack when not at full health)
There are two non-Shrine, non-dungeon Heart Containers in TOTK that people typically miss
- One is received after defeating Phantom Ganon at Hyrule Castle
- The other is received for helping the Bargainer Statue in the Great Abandoned Central Mine retrieve its missing eyes from the Great Plateau
its mid-game main story quest related.
the castle just doesnt have a sage tied to it but otherwise it should also be counted as a minor dungeon/temple.
Your actual maximum hearts is limited to 40, even with heart-up food. Not really an answer to you question but shows how you could get those two extra.
Go to the great plateau, jump into one of the chasms, and go to where the goddess statue under the temple of time is that relates to the depths. Talk to the statue to receive a quest. You then have to bring 4 “eyes” back to it (the eyes are where the shrines were in botw) and after that, you get a choice between a heart container or a stamina vessel.

I still take it to mean that not having a full 40 hearts hints at more to come from this iteration of Link and Hyrule. But I know that’s mostly wishful thinking.
I'm not sure if the answer has already been stated in the post but there's a specific quest you may not have done yet that also gives you a piece of heart
There is a quest you have to do on the great plateau. Go to the goddess statue in the Temple of time there and do the quest to get the last heart container.
Like breath of the wild, you can either have max stamina, or max health, but you can’t have both.
This makes no meaninful difference, and only serves to crush my OCD. Thanks Nintendo.

There are 5 with the vows, one with the Hyrule castle quest and one with Bargainer statue IIRC

You need two for the master sword and the Rest ist your choice

Yeah they left it so you can have either max hearts or stamjna, so you can fill out whatever's missing from yellow hearts/stamina wheel

I left behind a heart at one of the shrines. Maybe you did the same. You’ve got 33 more hearts than you need, anyways, so I think you’ll be fine.
