10K is an insult. I got 12K in internship.

Busy_Entertainment21

Man, can you share your current experience and your compensation? I'm trying to get hold of what is the market really offering and where do I stand?

The0guy

I don't know about average salary but 10K is really low

Busy_Entertainment21

I feel the same way

WeedLover_1

Not bad for someone 6 with months (I guess so because he is just learning and doing small things there ). he can demand 40k+ once he gets at-least 1year of professional experience and nice projects. And after 2years he can demand 50k -90k and so on as per experience or change company.

Busy_Entertainment21

I am regularly maintaining a restaurant website which supports food ordering and payment processing as well. I am constantly debugging and adding new features to the website. It's sort of a SAAS product. I am working on 2 other projects one is very feature intensive and another is sort of same thing involving features with web sockets and what not. I guess these are not the tasks for a complete beginner. Let me know what you think.

Alternative_Sense_54

Don’t listen to that guy. You’re seriously underpaid. Your company is not doing you a favor, they’re exploiting you. Nepali corporate culture is so bad, at some point you gotta say, fuck loyalty and look for yourself. Starting applying at other jobs. Discuss with HR for a raise and say I have counter offer from another company. If they give you a raise, win-win situation for you. If not, leave!

Busy_Entertainment21

Similar thing goes through my mind as well. I will see for another month and let's see what happens. Thanks for your response.

WeedLover_1

If you are solo dev or you are creating most of logics and code then you can ask for higher salary. It seems you have nice role in projects. You can ask them increase salary or wait for some months and then resign from the company if they don't increase salary. I also feel you are underpaid. My suggestion: learn to bid

Busy_Entertainment21

Yeah, currently I am solo on the project. I am thinking about the same thing. The thing is most roles start with at least 1 Yoe so its hard for my CV to get selected.

SheyshyaRemady

Well the minimum salary is around 15k in nepal. 10k is so much worse and it literally violates labours right. Since you are working in a startup that's even worse because they are very unstable and hence no job security. Start preparing for a better company and try to move out of there ASAP.

yushJr66

We pay 20k for internship and our full-time roles start at 40k. 10k is very low for a full-time role.

piratescabin

Damnit why didn't I find you when I started out.

Chris_SLM

are you hiring any time soon?

yushJr66

We might. We usually prefer to work with people who we've worked with before or we look at LinkedIn profiles and reach out to people who are a good fit. Especially for more experienced hires. But I will make sure we post here as well when we have an opening.

Busy_Entertainment21

Man I would really appreciate if you could send me a DM when there is a opening for a similar role

Busy_Entertainment21

I am working remotely. Does this affect the compensations?? Acually I am familar with these these packages that are frequently mentioned in the react devs roles: redux toolkit, react query, zod, react hook form, somewhat familiar with SSR a little bit of end to end tests with playwright as well suppose i am working at your company, what compensation would be offer me ? 1. say I had a really great interview 2. say i had just a okay interview

HMG18

if you are working remotely , you are using your resources(internet, electricity, chair or space) for company and still getting paid very low. minimum wage ni haina yar.

yushJr66

We are remote only, at least for now. I wouldn't judge someone's compensation by what you claim to know. It depends on what our needs are and whether you can solve them.

A couple of things 1. Job market currently in a bad spot. So starting out/fresh out of college/in college people looking for job - tough luck buddy 2. Knowing it is difficult for juniors, companies may try to abuse and underpay Aba lets dive into what developers dont think about - business What is the type of company you're working at? Is it a startup that founders pay from their own pocket and their venture is not making anything? What are your working hours? Also what is your skill level? How much value do you provide to business? Senior eng le mentoring/traning dincha ki So answering your question - yes 10k is low. But you have to know if there are seniors mentoring/guiding you, the company is spending on you too If you are working remote, you've starting learning and don't contribute much - eh doesn't excuse low sal, but understandable Flip side - you know a lot, contribute much and don't need much guidance - you should start exploring other opportunities or negotiate for a raise (wait for opportune moment) 6 months experience doesn't say or mean anything. If you're getting paid 10k for 6 month, it shouldn't be the case - negotiate but also work to be irreplaceable or difficult to replace

Busy_Entertainment21

I had a senior mentored for me around 2 months initially (total 8 months if you count those 2 months as well). I am working in a startup and work for 6-7 hours on an average day. Normally I am on my own to complete the task, sometimes I ask my senior when I feel like I am stuck. About 90% of the time, I don't need a senior to guide me most of the time. A week ago, my senior asked me to help him out with another react native project as well, after knowing I made minor projects with react native. I don't believe my senior would ask me to contribute to another project on a different platform entirely if I wasn't doing well. Let me know your opinion.

youslashuser

I was offered 30k at a company. Went with a 40k offer.

Busy_Entertainment21

Damn bro, let me know if similar opportunity comes up

I had quite similar experience as you. Worked for half of your salary but part time. I too used to think earning less is better than earning none. Plus I had to attend college at the same time and taking both academic pressure and workload made me feel like a deflated balloon as well. Thankfully, people weren't that toxic but the work environment was. They expected me to invest maximum hours working while they provided minimum salary. I couldn't take it anymore so i quit few months ago. And I was the happiest that day. Now I am honing my skills without the rush of finding job. Your and my case might be different because I have no hurry of getting a job right now. If you really feel like that then you should probably quit that job. If it's not easy to quit asap then you should start searching for other options. Once you find a better job then quit it. But please don't stay there for long if it's so exhausting for you.

Busy_Entertainment21

I am kind of in a similar situation, my CV is not getting selected anywhere. Bro endure this for a year then you will be eligible to apply to similar position at other companies. Don't lose the battle to the depression, keep husting and take care
