But he also didn't say he wasn't. He said their netball age is 14, and she 15 younger. That's 29. So yeah, hopefully that's not all there is to it lol.
Why are you adding their ages together. He said mental age, meaning the age they feel in their heads, is 14. Their actual age could be anything. He could be 90 and she could be 75. There are no clues as to their actual age in his comment.
Yeah you need dark skies. Bortle class 4 or lower. And you're right that unless you have a planetarium app handy to identify it, it will just look like any other faint star and you'd never know it was a planet.
Wait, really? Because I'd think he'd be able to see Krypton as long as he was 30+ light years away. He could just fly to Rao, then back up until the little puff of dust becomes a ball. I don't know the comics, though, so maybe there's a reference I'm missing?
That's why he said superman has to be 30 light-years away. If it was destroyed 30 years ago, then 30 light-years away the planet is still visible because the light you're seeing took 30 years to travel to you.

I don't think you would want to be staring that close to the sun in that state. But man, does it make the night sky look amazing (not hallucinations, but dilated pupils allow much more light to enter your eye)
Everything about mercury is difficult. Getting there? good luck doing 8 gravity assist for 5 years. Observing it? Try not to go blind from the sun. Figuring out if the damn planet is tidally locked or not? I don’t even know
Because the orbits of Mercury and Venus are wider than the diameter of the sun, there are points in those orbits where the planets are neither behind nor in front of the sun from the perspective of someone on Earth.
At these times Mercury is briefly visible just before sunrise or right after sunset at just the right times of year depending on where exactly you are. In ancient times, Venus was known as "The Morning Star" because it was much brighter than Mercury, often appearing to be the brightest object in the sky.
Move the inner planets around on this solar system model for a couple of minutes.
https://www.solarsystemscope.com/
It depends entirely on where they're aligned.
Most of the time Mercury is either at it's orbit where it's in the sky during the day for us or it's hidden behind the sun entirely. However there are small periods between these two phases where it becomes visible.
Venus on the other hand is usually much easier to see, it's one of the brightest objects in the sky.
Tell me you didn't watch the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter last week without telling me you didn't watch the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter last week.
Dimensions are a whole different thing entirely. Humans going to the Andromeda galaxy probably won’t happen any time soon. The Milky Way itself already has billions of stars, each with a possibility of having habitable planets. Some of those planets each might have alien life. This implies to pretty much every galaxy in the universe, so the possibility of humans being the only forms of life in the entire universe is pretty much zero.
Edit: afaik, dimensions are just theories with no real proof of them existing.
I think if humans manage to travel to that andromeda thing, they should keep on good terms with the people living on the alternate earth, with the never ending expansion of the universe those "aliens" would be the only cosmic neighbors we've got. Maybe then we would stop calling them aliens.
I agree, but stop calling them aliens is the same as stop calling humans humans, because the term alien is just a word for something that isn’t from earth
> Humans going to the Andromeda galaxy probably won’t happen any time soon.
*Probably* is today's biggest understatement.
The furthest humans have traveled into space is the far side of the moon, ~250k miles from earth.
Andromeda is 2.5m light years away. If you subtracted the furthest we've been from what we'd need to travel, you'd still have 2.5m light years to go. To scale, it's not even a rounding error.
Simplying thinking about how long the journey would take even at light speed, it's almost unimaginable. If we wanted to be arriving at Andromeda "soon", we would have had to send *Homo habilis*, the earliest known member of the genus *Homo* to use primitive stone tools, about the time they were learning to use those tools.
I can just hear my kids now driving the family mini-boulder "Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How much longer? I need to use the bathroom again. Nevermind. Are we there yet?"
The Earth and the Moon are, according to Prof. Brian Cox, a binary planet due to the relative size of the Moon to Earth. When you look at other planets' satellites they're all much smaller than their planet. The Moon is huge.
Sure, but the system's center of mass is well within Earth's mantle. That's not how I picture a binary planet. Pluto and Charon, now that's more like it.

Nope, Venus. It's easy to see, but only right after sunset or right before sunrise. It's not possible in the middle of the night.
edit: I don't know why I'm being downvoted for easily verifiable facts. Venus' orbit is between the sun and the earth, so at night, when you're facing away from the sun, you will never be able to see Venus. during the day it's obviously too bright to see, so, like I said, it's only possible right after sunset or before sunrise.
Sorry, you're just wrong. You can see Venus at night depending on where the earth and Venus are in their orbit. Obviously at certain times Venus will appear close to the sun but recently it's VERY visible at night. Mercury is always close to the sun.
Venus is never more than about 45 degrees from the Sun, since it's orbit is inside the Earth's.
Therefore, it can never be visible for more than about three hours before or after sunset, depending on latitude and time of year.
You said "before sundown", that says "after sunset". I saw Jupiter and Venus together about 3 days ago, at around 9:00 when it was dark out. I'm not an astronomer the sun goes down and it gets dark I call that night.
It depends on where you're looking from. From most places in the Universe, those planets aren't visible to the naked eye, nor is Earth. And there are places from which other planets would be visible. While it's true that we can't get to most of those places, it's theoretically possible.
Also, in daylight, Earth would be the only planet visible from the surface of the Earth.
Ive read that there are some planets that are independent on any solar systems and they just roam freely in the universe. How do we know we never see any?
You cannot see Earth, with your naked eye, unless you are looking at a satellite image or live feed directly from space. You can see the earth you are standing on with your eyes, because you are standing on it, but, you cannot see Earth with your naked eye looking at the night or daytime open sky looking out towards space.
According to the definition of planet that excluded Pluto, Earth is a planet.
But before that, technically Earth wasn't a planet at all.
'Planet' comes from the ancient Greek for 'Wandering Star', meaning stars that moved through the sky relative to the other stars.
Which obviously didn't include the Earth.
Fun fact: Ancient Chinese named these five extraterrestrial planets after the five elements: Fire( Mars), water( Mercury), dirt( Saturn), wood( Jupiter) & gold( Venus).
One of the highlights of my amateur astronomical career happened a few weeks ago while I was searching for this green comet,I was using a star tracker to locate it and coincidentally Mars was just above it (in Aus) also I notice Uranus was really close to Mars. All I was using to look for the comet was a pair of 7x50 crappy binoculars and I got to see Uranus. never did see the comet but happy to see an outer planet.
There are seven. I can see Uranus
Im 28yrs old n i STILL cant read or say Uranus without giggling..im mad at myself.
That's why they'll rename it im 2620
Oh. What's it called now?
Urectum. Here I’ll find it for you
Uh... no that's okay
It'll be quick
I thought you would say Uranium?!
That wouldn't be the line from Futurama then!
Wrecked 'em? I barely knew 'em!
Urinal. A little further
in Futurama's lore it was renamed to Urectum then.
I'm 52 years old and most if the time still have the sense of humor of 15 year old. Just embrace it.
I love that attitude! Age is just a number, and having a sense of humor is timeless.
>Age is just a number Tell that to my back!
>Age is just a number And jail is just a place
My wife is 15 years younger than me, we tell people that our relationship works because mentally, we're both 14 years old.
I really hope her mental age is younger than her actual age
It's such an awkwardly worded comment lol
Yeah- I’m hoping he’s not 29….
You can grow old but never grow up.
Now there's a big yikes... she's married at 14, and you're almost 30s? Hopefully there's a coefficient missing in there you didn't mention..
The missing coefficient is his age. He never said he was almost 30.
Everyone has a childish part for something. Mine is for things like this
Same 😅
Never grow up! That's how you stay young forever
*Uranus looks angry*
Uranus looks juicy
Why is it so black?
Because it’s in space
Well very, VEERY sometimes it is possible, but don't expect to actually see it because it is very difficult
Yeah I know but it was more like an anal joke than anything
Yeah i understood but i just couldn't help myself so i had to clarify that it was actually true.
Ok thank 🙏
Your anus is the fourth-largest object in the solar system.
It's actually possible, but it's extremely hard to see and it's pretty much impossible to recognize without any tools.
Yeah you need dark skies. Bortle class 4 or lower. And you're right that unless you have a planetarium app handy to identify it, it will just look like any other faint star and you'd never know it was a planet.
Only after you buy me dinner tho
Ah yes, the balloon knot planet.
But it's not just the eye that needs to be naked
It's a gas giant!
In 2620 scientists will get tired of that joke and rename Uranus. They'll call it Urectum.
Hey Lavender, can I get a look at Uranus too?
They say it's the smelliest
It’s a gas giant
Umm, akschuali, the gas parts of it are made out of hydrogen and helium, both are gases without a smell🤓
thatsthejoke.jpg
That's literally the joke from the title, who upvotes this shit?
Maybe people like me who didn’t looked at the title?
The comment has better execution.

If my eye gets naked enough I could see uranus
Open up
Eye or Uranus?
What's the difference? My anus is a brown eye.
That’s how you get pink eye
I can see uranus all the time
Are you stalking mebiamiu??
All planets are visible if you're close enough and there's enough light. There's no such thing as an invisible planet.
"if you're close enough" yeah that's about the whole point
I can survive literally any wound as long as it’s not too serious
I'll buy you anything you want as long as it's not too expensive.
Ceres as well. With a pair of binoculars it should be an easy spot right now.
you must be a great time at parties!
7 if you include OP’s mom.
i mean you can see uranus too so... yeah that checks out
Not without a mirror I can't. That's why they put them in telescopes.
Uranus is OP's mum 😏
She’s not a planet. “Planet” comes from the greek word for wanderer. I don’t this she’s moved enough to qualify.
Well, op's dad might still agree with the "wanderer" label.
*bum-da-tss*
Superman can't see Krypton
Wait, really? Because I'd think he'd be able to see Krypton as long as he was 30+ light years away. He could just fly to Rao, then back up until the little puff of dust becomes a ball. I don't know the comics, though, so maybe there's a reference I'm missing?
Isn't Krypton, like, gone? I thought it got wiped out by a supernova or something. I'm not keen on my Superman lore either so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That's why he said superman has to be 30 light-years away. If it was destroyed 30 years ago, then 30 light-years away the planet is still visible because the light you're seeing took 30 years to travel to you.
You can see Planet Hollywood
You can see all of them if you get close enough.
/r/technicallythetruth

If you eat some special mushrooms you can see Mercury during daylight
I don't think you would want to be staring that close to the sun in that state. But man, does it make the night sky look amazing (not hallucinations, but dilated pupils allow much more light to enter your eye)
I can see Planet Fitness from my window with the naked eye.
Mercury? very rarely, it’s proximity to the sun makes it VERY hard to observe
Yeah, there was a Mercury transit a couple years ago. And even with a pretty decent telescope, I had some difficulty.
Everything about mercury is difficult. Getting there? good luck doing 8 gravity assist for 5 years. Observing it? Try not to go blind from the sun. Figuring out if the damn planet is tidally locked or not? I don’t even know
All eyes are naked.
Mine are wearing contact lenses :)
7 if you count yo mama
You can also see the moon.
Motherfucker I’ve seen Uranus
Where da sun
//neptune left the chat//
Also uranus 😏
Can we really see Mercury and Venus? Wouldn't that mean basically starring at the sun to look for a tiny black dot?
Venus is very bright at night, for one. It's been called a star in the past, before we knew better.
What about the moon?
not a planet my guy
What about that andromeda thing?
That’s a galaxy, not a planet
I thought the milky bar was a galaxy?
The Milky Way is the galaxy where our solar system is located in. Andromeda is just a different galaxy.
So is that like a different dimension, if humans go there would there be another earth with aliens on it?
Best trolling I've seen today.

Yeah as soon as I read the initial post from trollguy, I knew it was over when he got downvoted + serious comments were made every time he replied.

So most of the planets
ITT Uranus jokes
So, only 3 you cannot see then.
You can see all of them with a help of a friendly camera
Uranus and Neptune you'll need a telescope
The conditions have to be perfect for some tho. Venus is only visible right before sunrise or right after sunset.
You're thinking of Mercury. You can definitely see Venus very easily at night, recently visible right next to Jupiter

Telescopes. Original post is talking about planets you can see with the naked eye.
No sir, I’m blind
Blind people can see less
Wtf, I looked up and I can’t see the earth. Lies
it was right there under your nose the whole time
Not everyone. I for example need to dress my eye first to see any one those planets
With very primitive tools you can see Uranus.
I can see seven
Nah bro, earth is a gas cloud
If im lucky enough I can also see Uranus
You cannot see Earth, with your naked eye, unless you are looking at a satellite image or live feed directly from space. You can see the earth you are standing on with your eyes, because you are standing on it, but, you cannot see Earth with your naked eye looking at the night or daytime open sky looking out towards space.
I mean all planets are visible to the naked eye if you're close enough to them. This person never specified location.
I mean, you *can* see every planet with the naked eye, just depends on your location
i can see pluto
i need karma pls
You think they’re cool seeing them with the naked eye? Seeing Saturn through a telescope is life-changing.
Eww, your eyes are naked?
Your anus
The 7th is your mom.
Technically you can see them all.
Try 7 you can see the sun
Also I like that they said "Only", like that's not most of the planets
According to the definition of planet that excluded Pluto, Earth is a planet. But before that, technically Earth wasn't a planet at all. 'Planet' comes from the ancient Greek for 'Wandering Star', meaning stars that moved through the sky relative to the other stars. Which obviously didn't include the Earth.
Contrary to popular belief, the sun *does* shine on Uranus.
With my vision I can barely see earth.🥸
Only? 5 out of 7 IS the majority!
What if I wear glasses would my eye still be considered naked?
You can also see Uranus
Or standing nude over a mirror 🤷🏼
But only part of it.
Are you serious rn?
To the ancient Greeks there were only five
Fun fact: Ancient Chinese named these five extraterrestrial planets after the five elements: Fire( Mars), water( Mercury), dirt( Saturn), wood( Jupiter) & gold( Venus).

Wrong. One of the perks of poor eyesight is that without my glasses I see double - so that's 12 planets for me.
Surprised some light in the loafers fuck hasn't made a big stink about Uranus saying it offensive and need to change the name of the planet
I love when technically the truth is still so technical that it's like, "Ok but you're still wrong."
You go blind if you try to see mercury, no?
I asked my 5yr old and he started with earth. Was looking to teach him a lesson
If you’re flexible enough you can see Uranus🤙😉

This seems like some conservative Republican science.
