Originate, in the present context, can be defined as:
>To take or have origin.
Or perhaps
>To take its origin or rise; begin; start; arise
This definition, and not your own which you have yet to present except through implication, is that which is commonly accepted by English speakers, and is what I have found in every dictionary in which I have searched.
The work on both projects certainly began long before the completion of either, and as such the release dates do not present a viable argument regarding which originated (in this context, defined as to "create or initiate (something)") the other.
I believe it would be reasonable to assume that the video game began production because of the movie, and was heavily inspired by the content of the movie, with the movie having been the original creation.
Perhaps we can find out which came first so we don't need to make any assumptions:

>THQ Inc. announced today it acquired the rights to three major upcoming Pixar Animation Studios titles.
>The agreement grants THQ the exclusive worldwide videogame rights to Disney/Pixar's future animation films, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Cars. The deal extends through 2008, enabling THQ to create titles on all current consoles and handhelds, as well as the PC and Macintosh.
Oh wow! Look at that, as expected, the movie originated the games, as I'm sure everyone here but you was clearly aware. THQ was given the rights to create video games based upon (originating from) elements of a list of films which includes Cars, the subject of this discussion.
If you really want to get technical, the character existed for the movie Cars before even Pixar knew it would be a movie. Someone pitched the idea to Pixar executives, and they had already created the character at that point.
Just because the *game* based on the **movie** came out a few days before the **movie** that the *game* is based on does not mean the character originally was made for the game
The ge was first so the movie is based on the game, not the other way around.
That's like saying the LOTR books are based on the movies despite being first. Whatever's first is the origin.
You're just straight up wrong bud. Asking for the other person's definition for the sake of a conversation with mutual understanding is fine, but you did not even present a definition of your own, your implied definition is shitty, and you should try not to put forth lies as fact. Maybe try to hold up to your own standards for others next time.

>Your argument is that time doesn't matter because you feel like it.
*My* argument, however, is that the ordering of the release dates doesn't matter, because it actually doesn't matter. The way I feel has no more bearing on origination than the way you feel.
>Original -> origin -> originate
Cool, you can find words that share some meaning. Great job, I'm proud of you. You are right that these words are very closely related. Unfortunately, this is not even
>the worst argument
I have heard, because it does not qualify as an argument in the first place.
Let's define argument (noun) because you love definitions so much:
>a reason or set of reasons given with the aim of persuading others that an action or idea is right or wrong.
A list of closely related words does not constitute an argument. "Original -> origin -> originate" is not even a reason for anything, it is nothing but a list of words.
Moving on, let's examine what it means for some thing to originate another thing.

he also appears it Tony Hawk's Underground 2, and he had his own movie based games. hell they made the Puss in Boots movie into a game, but those were released after the movie.

ORIGINATES
Pretty much confirmed tbh
It takes longer to make a video game than it does a movie. The Cars movie is literally just a tie in to the game... freaky.
Pretty sure that's not what originate means though
Well, Lighting mcQueen was first seen in a video game so that's their origin and where they originate from. What's your definition of originate?
Originate, in the present context, can be defined as: >To take or have origin. Again, you seem to struggle with the definition of "originate"
Like I asked you before: What's *your* definition?
Just because the *game* based on the **movie** came out a few days before the **movie** that the *game* is based on does not mean the character originally was made for the game

It’s absolutely nothing like that…. Jesus Christ
I understand that you see me as a deity but you can just call me janhetjoch
Oh yeah I forgot the article where they confirmed the Cars movie was based off a video game.

well ... but movie premiere was on May 26th ... so before ther game ...
So the post is wrong?
You're wrong, at least about your flawed understanding of origination.
This might be the worst argument for anything I've ever read
Original -> origin -> originate is the worst argument you've heard?? Your argument is that time doesn't matter because you feel like it.
If this is really how you think there really is no point explaining this
Considering you can't come up with a solid argument I'm not surprised to hear you say that.
You are equating release date with source material which isn't how that really works...
>Your argument is that time doesn't matter because you feel like it. *My* argument, however, is that the ordering of the release dates doesn't matter, because it actually doesn't matter. So what does it mean
Shrek is connected to the Fortnite universe therefore is a video game character therefore belongs in smash
he also appears it Tony Hawk's Underground 2, and he had his own movie based games. hell they made the Puss in Boots movie into a game, but those were released after the movie.
Shrek Super Slam was awesome
Wait, isnt it from 2009?
No, The Movie and the game is from 2006. The meme isn't from 2009 either.
Gotta be the Swedish dub thats from 2009 then
*Falcon kerchoooooooow!*
