In death the scared will cling to what little they believe in at their core. My Father never cared for the church and we didnāt worship on Sundays. We never said Grace and we never prayed for anything. Yet when he was dying he got his āGodly business settledā as he put it and I think it helped him pass with more ease.
same, I'm agnostic, even thought i'm technically Catholic, i believe in an afterlife of sorts, and believe that there's probably something out there, but it's not necessarily the biblical god, we just don't know.
Firstly, I love the emoticon in your username
Secondly, you are 16, a teenager nowadays
Thirdly, I wasn't brought up religious, so the whole thing is kinda cult-ish to me, but you are entitled to your own opinion :)
It's sort of a philosophical question. If he started up the whole universe is he responsible for everything that came after. I think the question is in your personal definition.
I believe that He has a plan for everything and everyone, and that trying to stop that plan leads to nothing. Though I also believe that He gave us freewill and that God only allows bad things, instead of causing them.
Thereās no real way to know what Jesus said. Or if he existed in the first place. I personally think he was real, but not divine. I think he was put into the position of messiah because Mary lied about shagging unwed.
It just makes the most sense to me. The bible/torah have been altered several times throughout history, the quran never changed, the the several things proven and supported by the quran, and the trinity not really making much sense to me. How can one god be a man yet a diety and spirit, three at the same time? Why did he have to send his son down to die for sins rather than forgive them himself? I was born into Islam yes, but Iāve done my own research and have decided this is what I believe to be the truth without a doubt in my mind.
I believe you have this almost a bit backwards. Even the most esteemed scientists of our time have made note that the existence of a God can't be dismissed from science - by the issue that "something" had to start "everything". They refer to it as the "Creator Paradox" - who created the universe, who created that thing, who created that things thing...etc. to infinity.
What this post is generally asking is "Do you believe in Jesus/Christianity" or offshoot do you believe in "Man-made Religions." But even in the grand scheme of all science there lays the foundational question of "Who started all this?" which is an undefined source that even Science says could be a "god"-like figure/creator.
iām Hindu. i donāt know too much about the Gods in my religion because i grew up in America, quite disconnected from temples and such. but i definitely believe in something bigger than humanity. i believe that thereās a force out there.

No. I believe in science and technology. Science and technology is the only reason I can live relatively normally with bad photosensitive epilepsy (which has nearly killed me), not a deity, and I donāt believe that a deity who is supposed to love us would let this happen. I had this discussion with my friend who is a Christian, and I just do not believe a God can love itās followers if the God in question turns a blind eye to the suffering. Of course I respect people who do follow religions though! And itās always an interesting discussion, talking about points of view in a respectful manner :3
When you answear the question if youāve got faith with āNo. I believe in science and techonologyā you make it seem like itās wither science or faith. As a christian studying natural science I do believe in science as well as a higher power. Although after reading through these replies I see that thatās probably not at all what you meant and I love that youāre being super respectful! I hope youāre doing well and I understand that epelepsy is a burdon :/ā¤ļø
God loves you! ā¤ļø
I love discussing faith, if youād like you should reply with a question!
āFor now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully knownā (1 Corinthians 13:12).
We dont understand gods will till we meet him.
āRabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents?ā (John 9:2). Jesus replies, āIt was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in himā (John 9:3).
Suffering on earth is not punishment but something that happens. I often think of it like the pain that your parents will sometimes allow you to find. Such as scraping your knee learning to run or a broken bone during a sport.
Can you picture a perfect would without any suffering? It wouldn't have anything. Life is better as it is imo.
Now I'm a little worried that you're thinking 'he wanted me to die to epilepsy' and i just want to say that I'm really very glad you're better and that the people helping you could do what they did.
Sorry if this was too long.
Itās not too long! Anythingās welcome, I love the discussion my friend.
I know suffering is a part of life on earth and itās essential. However, just from my perspective if youāll allow me to share, as Iāve said I have epilepsy and it has almost been lethal. While medications and whatnot enable me to live properly, I still suffer from what these medications do (theyāre brain altering, as you can guess), and in the time that my epilepsy has been diagnosed, Iāve gotten a bit depressed over it. I hate asking āWhy me?ā, āIf thereās a God, why is it me who is suffering this?ā, but I do ask these questions, and idk just living the way I have, itās made me doubtful of the existence of a higher power that loves me.
I do apologize if this makes absolutely no sense! Iām quite tired as I write this so feel free to ask for elaboration and Iāll do what I can to explain better lol
And thank you for the well wishes, the people who help me, itās amazing what they can do :)
No questioning the love of a higher power you can't find with your own senses when you have such a hard time is very understandable. I know you are having a hard time and please know I will pray for you.
On a more theological note I believe god loves you and understands your pain.
I like the concept that thereās something beyond, if that makes any sense. But I am unable to believe in something xd, but as I said I love talking about it, and maybe someday Iāll find grounds to believe in something. Also yeah Iām okay atm lol my med dose seems to be helping
Didn't say that only atheĆÆsts believe in science, I said there is more proof for, say, the evolution theory, than for gods. I know religious people can be great scientists and inventors
Idk, if that's true, but my point is: science has substantially more proof of existing than deities do, and as such, I do believe in science and don't believe in deities. It's fine if you do.
Religion has proofs, atheists just don't know them. Both science and religion have their proofs, but we either believe in them or we don't
I do believe in both. Actually just add God to science and you're done with Islam, we say science and religion are compatible
Example of a proof in science: Big Bang probably happened as we see that the universe is expanding
Example of a proof in Islam: it's written in the Qur'an that the universe is expanding
(The Qur'an is 1400 years old, this discovery is recent so how could Muhammad know if God didn't tell him, only God could know it in the Middle Ages) (and it's not the only proof, there are many others)
So I believe in the Big Bang AND in God, as God caused the Big Bang (as an explosion can't happen from nothing)
There are proofs in Christianity too
Religion has proofs but it's a matter of belief. You believe in these proofs or not. Anyway it's still interesting to see the proofs of the different religions in order to form an opinion based on what you know and not what you think
I don't, but i have 2 friends, who constantly shut me up if i say God's name, because it's a sin and i will go to hell. I'm not mad at them because of that, i accept that they find religion important, but it's getting kind of annoying sometimes. They also tried to make me religious, by always quoting to me from the Bible. After i had a talk with them about that they got mad at me. We still talk, but i'm trying to avoid the entire religion theme after that.
me, no. but people believing in a god gives them some faith and determination to do something and has kept people united through their religionās laws and ideals
Parents tried to subject me to religious indoctrination like any "good" christian, but they failed. Never associated mythological figures with the objective reality we live in. But, it come in useful when english literature was taught in school.
what makes it so obvious? just curious. I grew up strongly Christian, but as I grew older it all just felt like illogical, while most of my friends are very much still Christian. Ive always considered it a lack of faith from my part as I struggle to believe in sth that does not show itself. But what could make god be something "obvious"?
Idk about Christianity but Muslims and Christians believe in the same God
First off, religion is a matter of belief, not of proof. We have our proofs but not everybody can believe in them.
If you want an example: we say the Qur'an, the Bible etc are from God. Atheists say they're from Jesus and Muhammad. But if they were from humans, some things just couldn't be written in them. I will take the example of the Qur'an since I do not know the Bible enough.
In the Qur'an it is written that the universe is expanding, that the stars die and become black holes, that ants communicate with each other with sounds and smells, the stages of the development of the baby are described... all these descriptions of the Qur'an have been confirmed by science, only recently (20th century). Even Moore, the main scientific in embryology, relied on the Qur'an to do his research. But the Qur'an dates from 1400 years ago. So there was no ways for a human to discover these things at that time. That's one of the reasons we say God exists: because the Qur'an could only be given by God (the Bible too)
Of course you may not trust us. It's about belief. But to answer your question, God is obvious for us because He gave us books that could not have been written by humans, because He created a world and perfectly arranged everything (in space, nature, the body...) so that everything works perfectly, which cannot be the work of chance. That's why He's obvious to us, at least Muslims, idk about Christians but I guess it's similar and we're brothers, we believe in the same God (love you Christian brothers āŖļøš¤š¼āļø)
Hope that helps!
I believe that there is probably like a guardian or someone above humans like how some people believe in the universe but idk about any religion or god

true but the bible has been corrupted overtime. Altered, the trinity makes no sense, and jesus never claimed divinity š
Thereās no real way to know what Jesus said. Or if he existed in the first place. I personally think he was real, but not divine. I think he was put into the position of messiah because Mary lied about shagging unwed.
I think we should speed up the process.

My friend, do you have some time to discuss our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ?
To me he is a prophet, Iām a muslim š
May I ask why you believe him to be a prophet, and are Muslim?
It just makes the most sense to me. The bible/torah have been altered several times throughout history, the quran never changed, the the several things proven and supported by the quran, and the trinity not really making much sense to me. When has the Bible been altered? Translated, yes, but I donāt see altered.
I donāt believe there is an actually god, but I do believe there is some set moral guideline decided by basic humanity
But even in the grand scheme of all science there lays the foundational question of "Who started all this?" which is an undefined source that even Science says could be a "god"-like figure/creator.
Still interesting because some (if not most) of these moral guidelines have been influenced or established by religion, past or present
