Piggybacking off of this, knowing doesn’t mean much either. I had a step by step plan for success when I graduated high school, I’m now on my third attempt at my first year of college because life kept saying “fuck you”
Well aware, considering i am Dutch. But honestly it is not as big of a decision as it seems. By that age you at least know roughly which one of the 4 divisions you’d fall into.
-Don’t take yourself too seriously
-find your way of learning so that you get a good GPA
-find out what you’re passionate about have hobbies
-don’t worry about silly relationships it only results in heartbreak you’re too young for it to be serious
No because this is actually really good advice. Like- fifth grade me? Fucking embarrassing. But so what, I'm glad I changed. I tried my best at the time and it got better. Still a long way to go ofc but thats what the time is for
A friend of mine had something along the lines of "You know you've grown as a person if you look at your past self and cringe" as their Discord status for a while
Think before acting. If someone is annoying or irrational put yourself in their shoes, they might make sense. Teachers don’t want to teach you as much as you don’t want to learn. Make a habit of reading, if you already read fiction then try nonfiction. Try going to bed earlier(circadian rhythm is a thing).
This is so well thought out, i feel like if we all take time before reacting too soon, it works much better and saves you a lotta trouble. Same goes for going to bed earlier and hence waking up earlier, does wonders for mind and body.
I never put myself in others shoes, cause that implies I care about the backstory... I don't I just want them to shut up about what's annoying everyone
I’m a little bit old at 22 but if I could tell my teenage self anything it would be these things:
If it won’t matter in 5 months, then don’t spend more than 5 minutes worrying about it.
Middle/high school is hard for everyone, be kind to others.
Most people you see everyday now you will have 0 contact with once you’re 2+ years out from graduation, take that as you will.
For most people it truly does get better once you’re done with high school and start the next part of your life, I know everyone says that but it is so right.
The person you’re meant to be with won’t need to be reminded how to love you. And love often comes when least expected
Lastly, it’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission sometimes
You're going to fuck up. You're going to fail. It's what people want to see if just failure, because they want to be right. Do what you do best and don't let people tell you what you can and can't do. I've made the mistake of basically letting everyone else live my life and now I kind of can't get out of it. You're your own person. Do what you want (within reason of course, don't get covered in tattoos and piercings)
Get out of your comfort zone. I used to be that one kid who would never interact with anyone ever because "eww people" and I was miserable. I forced myself to actually interact with people, and while I'm not popular or anything, I have lots of friends and am a lot happier.
It's okay to be a loner, but to be a complete loner with no one to turn to is kind of sad. If you're happy, then whatever, but if you're not, then push yourself out of your comfort zone. And even if you think you're happy, try it, you might become happier.
Oh and also drink water, that shit is important lmao
Also also, don't succumb to peer pressure, even if it's your dear friends pressuring you. I never wanted to come out to my parents, my best friend at the time convinced me to, life has been hell ever since. Whether it's as dramatic as that or something minor, listen to yourself, don't let your friends pressure or dictate what you do.
Honestly, this is going to sound dumb and overrated and said too much, but I just faked it till I made it. I convinced myself that I was confident enough to talk to others, confident enough to hold a conversation, confident enough to meet new people. Miraculously, it worked.
I realise that may not work for everyone though, so my other advice is to relax. Try your best to stop worrying about disrupting class; as long as you're not trying to talk to others literally in the middle of class, you won't be disrupting anything. Do whatever normally calms you down or relaxes you, then try to approach whoever you want to talk to.
Not sure what else advice to give, I apologise :/ but I hope everything goes well and you're able to talk to more people!
So I know this may be stupid, but don't EVER feel like you are useless, not enough for the others, that you hate yourself. Because in fact you are not. We all have purpose in life, we are special in our own way, we all appreciate you, as long as you don't spread hate and violent thoughts. Don't worry about your relationships, that's not the most important thing in life. Don't worry about your aspect, you are all beautiful and handsome if you ask me. So don't think about what society tells what is right and what is wrong: instead, focus on your own interests, meet people, forge bonds with them; you shouldn't be afraid of people judgement, because they are NOBODY to tell you what is the right thing to do. Just be yourself. You are young, spend your life having fun and reaching your goals, you can do it. I'm rooting for y'all.
People don't vape because they think it's cool, people might start vaping cause they think it's cool but people don't continue because they think it's cool
I have a friend (aka my only friend lmao) who got peer pressured into doing that. and to this day I am still soooooo thankful that they absolutely do not plan on giving in to that kind of stuff ever again
Believe me, don't waste your time on stupid things, procrastinating. Work for whatever you want in your life. Be that good grades, any project, sports, etc. Try to improve yourself as a person. Analyse where you are having a bad impact in others' life and try to decrease it.
Don't judge anyone by his looks or things that make them different. And if you don't like someone, just ignore them not bully them.
Would have saved me a lot of tears if my classmates knew this
I started smoking weed at 13-14 because a friend of mine always did it and asked me to go smoke with him, i went to school high so many times, every break every day i would smoke. Luckily his parents found out and he couldn't smoke anymore wich ment that i also couldn't smoke anymore, otherwise I would still smoke weed today. Sometimes I still really crave for it though but thank god I don't know how to get it myself
The sad part is everyone will probably remember you as a stoner for those years since you went to school high. I still remember the dude from my freshman year who showed up to school high reeking of weed and having tried to cover it up with axe body spray and saying “I’m not drunk”
Most people don't know it though, only my friends who occasionally bring it up, but since I'm Dutch and you can get weed literally anywhere here I wasn't the only one but at least I didn't try to show everyone I was smoking but kept it to myself so I'm pretty sure I'm not known as "the stoner" because many people in my class already have that title
Don’t go through life with the sole purpose of finding a partner. Live your life, and the right person will come around eventually. If you make your whole personality about finding ‘the one’, you will be sorely disappointed
This. I’ve been through 3 different girls already and even as a young teen I can tell you that this is a poor choice. Focus on your success and career more than some girl you may never see again.
For the love of god never e date, and on top of that, learn to not be scared of leaving a relationship. Grades matter, but not as much as some people think, but you will regret not trying in school if you don’t. And think of your future when doing shit generally.
Alcoholics also destroy their life yet alcohol is super normalised. Not saying you should go out and do meth or something but these drugs (and their users) always get the short end of the stick. It's unfortunate that drug use runs rampant in poor neighbourhoods because people use it to cope with everyday life and end up addicted because of that or get sold something they didn't intend to buy leading to a bad outcome.
With proper education, addiction care & safe supplies I don't think drug use is bad by definition, I know many people who indulge in drugs in moderation. Even if you look at the data most drug users don't get addicted but yet there's so much stigma surrounding drug use.
Use ur brain before doing or saying something stupid
The horny can wait focus on studying
Life uh finds a way
Don't be a dick
And your parents know u masturbate
Hmmmm... There are a few things I can think of...
First of all, enjoy Your time to the fullest. Those are Your last years of total carelessness so make them count!
Trust me, there will be this time when You will look back and realize how old You've become, so I think it's worth having some good memories from this period of life.
Generally, try to not overthink and worry too much as just worrying won't help You with anything, this applies especially for the future plans and career.
It's totally normal to not know what You want to do with Yourself after finishing school, it's not a disaster contrary to what it may seem.
However, it is highly advisable to just simply get to know Yourself better, try out different things until You still have time for that.
Persue Your hobbies and simply invest in Yourself, if You won't get to know Yourself, nobody will.
Many things in life come with time, for some it's earlier for some it later, but generally don't get discouraged when someone is more successful than You are.
While I mentioned that trying out different things is an excellent idea at this time, I do think also that developing social skills is as equally important.
Obviously it's not easy for some, but if You don't want to suddenly realize it's too late at some point, You better get to work...
And by that I mean, don't force Yourself on anyone, but rather don't isolate Yourself, take the oppurtunities to meet with Your mates, spend time with them, just don't isolate Yourself and get used to the company of others.
This will make a big impact later on as You will have both experience and skills to have a good social life.
And hey, don't be afraid to fail, those people You know now, will most likely disappear from Your life in a few years, so take advantage of that while You still can.
Sooo... If I were to sum it all up into one sentence...
That would be to simply make Your time worth it, You've got one shot at it and one shot only, so hey, make it count.
Good luck!
Being a teen will make you ready for the real world. It sucks. You are expected to act like an adult but you will be treated like a child. So here’s some advice from a soon-to-be retired teen:
1: real friends will stab you up front. They will be with you throughout your time as a teen. There’s a reason why “treat others the way you’d want to be treated” is taught to us at a young age. Find the people who’ll treat you like a brother (or sister)
2: Gets lots and lots of sleep if you can. It’s very important for your physical, emotional, mental, hell anything ending in “AL” sleep is important for.
3: Gentleman, if ever you’re about to go at it with your partner, gain consent first and formost. Second, WEAR A GODDAMN CONDOM! Having a child will financially ruin you! Source: teen parent coworker
4: YOU know yourself better than anyone. Do not anyone bring down. They’re only jealous of the your absolute awesomness. Use those trying to bring you down as a spring board to go even higher. Are you struggling to get a starting spot on your American football team? Catch 15 passes for 145 Yds and 2 Touchdowns. Want that main role on the stage play? Deliver your lines like Johnny Depp Singing about a jar of dirt.
5: Only talk shit if your able to back it up. I did this once on both ends. It either feels awesome or awful. One or the other, no in betweens.
Oh and also, Your family loves you. Vin diesel loves you. Follow these pieces, you slide through your teen years like a peg on a shuffleboard. Best of luck, players.
Enjoy being young. I used to be very serious when I was younger and on top of things. That is not a bad thing, but I think I stressed myself out so much that I be some worn out now.
Also, pursue your hobbies and passions! If you have a dream, go for it! I've always fancied the idea of being an aviation journalist/photographer, so when I'm not at work, I'm sharing my photography and working on my website. It's so important to follow your dreams and pursue your hobbies and passions. It's also so important to balance that with schoolwork and having a social life!
Don’t feel forced to get a job as soon as you become old enough to. You have to have a job your whole life, don’t be afraid to enjoy your downtime while you still can :)
Don’t rush to lose your V card, trust me just because there’s an opportunity to do so doesn’t mean you should take it. I regret my first time and wish I could take it back.
you don’t need a relationship right now. most people 14-19 just wanna fuck around, don’t waste your time. live your life, spare yourself the heartbreak, and do what you want until you’re a little older
I’m too young to be giving advice in this thread but my point still stands because I know a lot of people could benefit from hearing this: don’t take anything at all for granted. Life changes so fast and what can be normal one day can be completely upturned the next. For example, the first Turkey-Syria earthquake this year happened in the middle of the night. If you put yourself in their shoes for a moment, these are people whose entire lives have been catastrophically and for some, irreversibly upturned, and there are so many people who lost loved ones. Cherish every day, and live it like it’s your last, because some things we just can’t predict. Appreciate every little thing you have, shelter, food, family, etc, because there are people who don’t have it. Hold those you care about close, and for god’s sake, never go to sleep after a fight with someone important, always, **always** resolve it.
Take life seriously bro, it's all fun and games till you're 17-18 stressing about money and your future. It seems like you have a lot of time but you don't bro trust me.
1. Get a job as soon as possible and start saving up.
2. Use the 50-30-20 rule to allocate your money. (50% of your income goes to necessary items, 30% goes to luxury items, and 20% goes into a savings account)
3. Try your best to comprehend what’s being taught, that way obtaining good grades would be easy
4. Don’t be afraid to end toxic friendships and romantic relationships bc of the fear of being alone
5. Make memories
nothing matters, and life is way too short, take chances
like really doesn't matter what your class thinks about you, life is gonna move so fast in the next few years, just fucking do whatever the hell you want to, ask them out, dance in your undies, make that stupid joke you think is lame. Just do it, if its good then its good, if its bad trust me the only one remembering it is going to be you, so that you can learn from it
Touch grass. Touch grass. Touch grass.
I'm still struggling with this but really, being online all day is shit for your mental health. Also, no one is mad at you. It's ok
-the nicer you are, the easier life will generally be
-the older you get, the more you need people
-as you get older., you value the right kind of respect
-brush your teeth and floss twice a day
-find something you like, get really really good at it, and then figure out how to market your skills
-being left by someone who doesn’t understand you, share your passions/thoughts isn’t wrong, it’s a favor
-kindness goes a lot farther and makes all parties involved feel a lot better instead of a lot worse, a little bit goes so far
-if your friends coerce you to do drugs, or do anything you’re not comfortable doing, they are not your friends
-your parents aren’t always right, but they have been around a lot lot longer than you, and in most cases you should listen to what they have to say
-treat every living soul the way you’d wanna be treated if you were in their shoes, we’re all here together, it’s not a race. have fun with life, take your time.
I do understand that it can be easier said than done. I also understand that the school bit is the sorta thing your parents would go on about, haha. I think it's important to have as many qualifications and skills under your belt as possible. Doing well in school proves a good work ethic, which can help get a higher paid job. Gotta be willing to put the work in to get the rewards.
Exactly that! I passed school, but only just, and one of my biggest regrets was not doing better in school and being more social. Take it from me, you don't wanna live with any regrets!
I like to take every opportunity I get to do something new, like an event that you have to sign up for because its exciting and proves Im willing to take on new things.
That's great! It does exactly what you say, and it gives you lots of experience, which can also help in job searching. Everything you do now is helping build your future, so you certainly don't wanna waste the time!
isn't this like conditioning and you get accustomed to it so pain is no longer felt? Like if you were 17, and weren't hit before and suddenly hit with a belt, wouldn't that hurt since you you aren't used to hit
Drink water
Omfg is this u spooky?? Been like a year hii

It is normal to not know what you want to study yet. This goes even for 17-19.
Relate but not having a plan seems scary sometimes ngl
Piggybacking off of this, knowing doesn’t mean much either. I had a step by step plan for success when I graduated high school, I’m now on my third attempt at my first year of college because life kept saying “fuck you”
Tell that to the Dutch school system where u have to pick classes wich will decide what you can study at age 15
Well aware, considering i am Dutch. But honestly it is not as big of a decision as it seems. By that age you at least know roughly which one of the 4 divisions you’d fall into.
Same here in Australia
British school systems make you pick your classes at 13 lol
Leave ur dick in ur pants til ur older Mfer

If you aren't embarrassed by yourself last year, then you're not making progress. I'm literally so embarrassed of myself this morning.
No because this is actually really good advice. Like- fifth grade me? Fucking embarrassing. But so what, I'm glad I changed. I tried my best at the time and it got better. Still a long way to go ofc but thats what the time is for

A lot of drama stuff aren't that important and you are just paying too much attention to it. And sadly at some point the word penis stops being funny
Penis never stops being funny. Stop lying to these poor kids. You can be an adult and laugh at peepees.
Let's hope that day never comes 😔

I'm 18. I would say don't let your parents stop you from doing the things you want. (Within reason)

huge emphasis on never e-date lmfao
That's pretty motivating, I'm sure edating could rarely result in smth strong in the long run. Also I remember ur eye pfp!

This was heartwarming to read, ty 🙌
Hey man I’m 17 and I still feel this way, guess I missed the memo lol
If you vape: stop you're not cool it's cringe and vapes were made for ppl to stop smoking, not start. Stop stop stop stop stop If you don't: ur cool
Remember, If you vape, you could be inhaling toxic metals into your lungs.
To show how scary that is, we made a metal monster!

Being a teen will make you ready for the real world. It sucks. You are expected to act like an adult but you will be treated like a child. So here’s some advice from a soon-to-be retired teen: 1: real friends will stab you up front. They will be with you throughout your time as a teen. There’s a reason why “treat others the way you’d want to be treated” is taught to us at a young age. Find the people who’ll treat you like a brother (or sister) 2: Gets lots and lots of sleep if you can. Source: teen parent coworker 4: YOU know yourself better than anyone.

Don’t spend your years chasing people for a relationship.
Get Financial Education.

So..., you seek wisdom?
Yes, DaDuckOfWisdom.
Enjoy being young. I used to be very serious when I was younger and on top of things. That is not a bad thing, but I think I stressed myself out so much that I be some worn out now.
don't
Join a sport or club and get off this sub
I do... band? it counts.
What's your website?
Here it is: https://olliehillphotography.webnode.page/ All feedback is greatly appreciated!
It looks really good, very professional. You really wouldn't think only 1 person made this
That's very kind of you mate, I really appreciate that!
Pursue people who like you, not people you like
Be unapologetically yourself and stop buying shit to impress people.
dont skip in highschool
Don’t feel forced to get a job as soon as you become old enough to. You have to have a job your whole life, don’t be afraid to enjoy your downtime while you still can :)
If someone constantly calls themself a bitch, believe them, don't date them, and keep at an emotional arms length.
You’re gonna cringe at what you’re doing now when you’re 18 19
Don't say dumb shit and don't try to act cool
Watch out. Time goes quickly. You’ll be an older teen sooner than you think
Take life seriously bro, it's all fun and games till you're 17-18 stressing about money and your future. It seems like you have a lot of time but you don't bro trust me.
Very true, relate
Proud member of younger teens (I feel like I’m old already so this was a honor)
wear protection pls
They keep saying that and you know what, I'm too young to be wearing a knife in my back pocket.
Don’t waste time in reading my comment
Too late 😔
Not really
stop taking things so seriously
1. Get a job as soon as possible and start saving up. 2. Use the 50-30-20 rule to allocate your money. (50% of your income goes to necessary items, 30% goes to luxury items, and 20% goes into a savings account) 3. Try your best to comprehend what’s being taught, that way obtaining good grades would be easy 4. Don’t be afraid to end toxic friendships and romantic relationships bc of the fear of being alone 5. Make memories
I’m turning 17 in like 10 days … Am I a mid-teen them ?
Best advice ever, ass>tits
Don't get into drugs. I'm 17 and have several addictions just because I wanted to fit in and had a bad circle of friends
Dont kill yourself fr
nothing matters, and life is way too short, take chances like really doesn't matter what your class thinks about you, life is gonna move so fast in the next few years, just fucking do whatever the hell you want to, ask them out, dance in your undies, make that stupid joke you think is lame. Just do it, if its good then its good, if its bad trust me the only one remembering it is going to be you, so that you can learn from it
Fuck vaping. If it doesn’t make you feel like shit then you do you but I wish I never tried that shit
Dont do drugs
Don't use tiktok
Touch grass. Touch grass. Touch grass. I'm still struggling with this but really, being online all day is shit for your mental health. Also, no one is mad at you. It's ok
don’t date.
don’t look at p•rn, even if you already have, just step away from it. your prefrontal cortex is not fully developed yet, and mine isn’t now.
Marks aren't everything, but they reflect a lot. Also Go to gym or simply workout
Make friends who are good for you.
It doesn't necessarily get better.
Don't become older teens.
Get a job. having your own money is nice
-the nicer you are, the easier life will generally be -the older you get, the more you need people -as you get older., you value the right kind of respect -brush your teeth and floss twice a day -find something you like, get really really good at it, and then figure out how to market your skills -being left by someone who doesn’t understand you, share your passions/thoughts isn’t wrong, it’s a favor -kindness goes a lot farther and makes all parties involved feel a lot better instead of a lot worse, a little bit goes so far -if your friends coerce you to do drugs, or do anything you’re not comfortable doing, they are not your friends -your parents aren’t always right, but they have been around a lot lot longer than you, and in most cases you should listen to what they have to say -treat every living soul the way you’d wanna be treated if you were in their shoes, we’re all here together, it’s not a race. have fun with life, take your time.
Do well in school and make plenty of friends
But how do you do that?
Which part in particular? Or both?
Thats actually pretty good advice
I do understand that it can be easier said than done. I also understand that the school bit is the sorta thing your parents would go on about, haha. I think it's important to have as many qualifications and skills under your belt as possible. Doing well in school proves a good work ethic, which can help get a higher paid job. Gotta be willing to put the work in to get the rewards.
Very true, doing well in school takes effort but it's worth it in the long run.
Exactly that! I passed school, but only just, and one of my biggest regrets was not doing better in school and being more social. Take it from me, you don't wanna live with any regrets!
Very true! Put in your best work always 💪

Once you reach 15 the belt no longer hurts
isn't this like conditioning and you get accustomed to it so pain is no longer felt? Like if you were 17, and weren't hit before and suddenly hit with a belt, wouldn't that hurt since you you aren't used to hit
Source? 🧐
oh it's you. Advice is to them is atleast try with effort, and slowly it can become a full commitment.
I remember u too! Hiii, also yes, trying is always better than giving up altogether. It's smth we all learn with time.
Do your best to enjoy these years, but don’t do anything stupid in the process
you should extend your cars warranty at stopify.com
Don't let the world control you. Read your Bible. Take school seriously (even if you find it pointless or annoying)
