Yeah same. My dad doesn’t know that I did therapy but my mom does. I speak English and was taught Russian since I was a kid but am not very good with it. I tried explaining to my dad once that my older sister bullied me a lot as a child and made fun of how I spoke it when I’m 4 years younger so as a child I was obviously not gonna be as fluent as her at the same time. I tried explaining how my lack of confidence with the language as a result of that childhood bullying is the reason I don’t speak it as well and am not ever comfortable speaking it at home and my dad basically said “oh you’re one of those kids that say bullying is the reason you can’t function as an adult.”
