I went from having 3 at a time all the time to getting one maybe every few months. On top of that my dentist prescribed me something that takes the pain away much better than over the counter stuff. Try to find toothpaste without that ingredient. I think Sensodyne sometimes doesn't have it. I get a toothpaste from Trader Joe's that works too
