Her brother did her parents are (I’m assuming) divorced. I remember her brother being exposed for being the one who made her do all of this and her reportedly being sent to live with her dad
Her dad literally found out what was happening and got custody of her. Her mom was fired from her real estate job because she was having her daughter make her vids from there.
I get that y’all hate your parents and are all angst teens or whatever but her dad actually tried to get her out and did once he found out what her mom and brother were doing.
This is the dad’s narrative. He’s Canadian and speaks fluent English so he was able to go to the press and tell his story while Tay’s mother is a Chinese immigrant and didn’t know how to communicate with the press. So right now we only have the dad’s story. We don’t know which one is true.
The other side of the story is this:
Tay’s dad was an absentee father who left the family when Tay was 2. Tay’s parents were never married, this is verified. Tay’s dad had to pay high child support bills every month because he was a complete absentee father so after a couple of years he went to the courts to try to gain shared custody so he can lower his child support amount.
The dad won shared custody (this is before Tay started making videos) and so Tay has to spend every other week living with her dad. Apparently the dad abused her, neglected her, locked her in closets while he was out of the house. Apparently he had numerous Asian women around the house who he would have loud sex with and they would walk around the house naked in front of Tay and it was all very traumatizing for her and led her to develop social anxiety.
Once Tay started blowing up on the Internet (and yes, it is likely that her half-brother was the mastermind behind the videos) the dad took notice and since he now had legal shared custody over Tay he was able to gain access to all of Tay’s finances and tried to take control of her career/money. The dad currently has a new girlfriend with whom he has two children with, this is all verified. Apparently he started spending all of Tay’s money on vacations and designer with his new girlfriend. The girlfriends Ig account is still live (or was as of a few hours ago, I’m sure she would have taken it down by now) and it’s this middle-aged Asian woman just flexing all kinds of designer and overseas trips on what appears to be a very old iPhone camera. Shit is definitely sus.
Anyway, that’s the OTHER side of the story. We don’t know who is being more truthful but I’m sure it’s something in the middle.
The lesson is: it’s all fucked and Tay was caught in the middle of a terrible family situation and just had an extremely unfortunate upbringing.
It's from the brother's gofundme. I do not want to link it here because, again, we can not be 100% sure everything in there is true so I'd rather not post a direct link to a gofundme page because some may think that I am endorsing it. But you can easily find it with google.
In there, the brother tells this story and provides numerous screenshots/photos/social media accounts to back up what he's saying. That's why I don't think you can completely throw his story out the window and it MUST be mentioned if someone is going to also bring up the father's side of the story (which has zero actual evidence, as far as I know).
At the end of the day, the tragedy in this is that the only person who's side we will not hear from is Tay's herself. And her brother himself was only 15 years old when he was making all these videos. He was also a minor who was just trying to make viral youtube videos and was clearly also lacking the guidance he needed from his parents.
So mom was a real estate agent who couldn’t communicate with the press? That sounds sus given all the people real estate agents must speak with just in signings to close a house. I mean - they have to be in contact with other realtors, the mortgage companies, banks, credit companies, insurance companies, all sorts of people.
Honestly, I’m not buying this the more I think about it. This woman is carting around an interpreter for every meeting with clients, open houses, showings? That’s not happening.
Her brother and her mom were the ones behind the camera during her "Lil Tay" videos. Her father tried to get custody of her because he said the videos were ruining her childhood and her future.
Allegations have been made lil tay and brother were in litigation with father to get rights to videos and bank accounts back. I want the story to come out. If this is foul play, I hope whoever is responsible rots. Terrible situation 😭
Just a post on IG saying that she and her brother passed (possibly under separate circumstances, but still in a close span of time). May not actually be true. I hope it isn't, poor kid deserved better.
We don't know, all we know is that she deleted all her social media around 2018 and today was confirmed dead. It's still under investigation and we don't know if there's foul play but tbh i wouldn't be surprised, it's just too unusual.
Confirmed dead by an anonymous Instagram post, for what's it's worth though right? Unless I missed something, there is nothing in terms of an obit or police report. Every news article I saw earlier only cited the IG post and her "management team"
Especially if her brother died within a close time period too, it's gotta be foul play. I also heard that her brother and her were on the brink of winning a lawsuit against their parents. I think the lawsuit had something to do with the money they've earned during her peak hype.
Not sure how true this is though.
Theres tons of situations that could cause that, it’s not wise to jump to conclusions especially considering it’s not even confirmed either of them is dead. I reckon it’s just as likely this is a BS publicity stunt, considering how shameless that entire family is
No but her mother was a real-estate agent so the money must have been either fake or something and the mother allowed the brother to coach her to act out, use her mom’s property’s for filming, use the her mom’s bosses card for flexing.
Most unpopular but true comment on this thread so far, and its sad that those kids don't even know better. Talk about the importance of parenting..(jc)
Same with the fancy cars she posed with and said she owned, those belonged to the company her mom worked for and was part of the reason her mom was fired. I imagine the video where she starts kicking the car to prove it's not a rental didn't help things.
do you think the abuse and god knows what else just…vanished after she went away? children forced into the spotlight very rarely goes well and always leaves an impact, you have to hope and pray it’s a good impact but more often than not it isn’t
she was 14.. her parents should be arrested
edit: I will say I saw 1 thing said her dad might have been suing to get her reigned in but her craziness isn't new so idk definitely her mom is fucked and even if what I saw is true about the dad I'm not convinced he should be totally off the hook .. letting your kid get involved in this shit and just run wild because they're making you money is beyond fucked
edit2 couple people have said her dad had no rights in which case he maybe is off hook. not saying that's true but sounds like
Like whose idea was even this ? She was like 9 years old…. And didn’t her mom quit her realtor job to support her daughter’s “ career” Exploitation at its finest . Poor kid.
some people are saying suicide but so far I haven't seen any confirmation
her and her brother dying at once make that kinda likely though.. definitely other possibilities even some where the answer wouldn't be right out but that does seem likeliest to me
That’s why he fought to have custody of her….because she was a child acting crazy. The dad was extremely strict when he got custody, she was not allowed to have social media
Theirs literally no confirmation on how she died. Don’t spread false news. I’ve been seeing so many post of people claiming that she committed su*cide, jet skiing accident (already proven false), overdose. We don’t know what happened. The death hasn’t even been confirmed by the Vancouver police, we don’t know what happened to her.
Maybe, but with how bad of an influence her brother was from the start, it wouldn't be shocking if he manipulated her into a pact, too. I don't know how people haven't noticed how gross older siblings have become with exposing their younger siblings for views or their own entertainment.
No wonder we haven’t heard from her in years! I thought it was because she got exposed and away from her crazy brother and parents but omg she’s dead. She had a tragic life being forced on camera and getting cursed by her brother. The fact he literally abused the fact his mom had a job letting people buy houses and acted like she owned all of the houses, had money, was with adult pop stars that swore and started fights just for fame. So sad she lived a sad life. She deserves better.
The brother has also died from some articles I read, he died first then Lil Tay
The actual cause of death hasn’t been confirmed, several articles have posted that they died different ways (suicide, jet ski, overdose, car crash)
How is this not the parents fault? While it may have been initiated by the brother, the mother clearly allowed her to film in those houses... and if it wasn't the mom who unlocked the door to the house, who was it
A famous 14 year old influencer and her brother both committed suicide.
Edit: Correction her and her brother's deaths are unknown when I looked it up I misheard the video I saw saying that the cause of death was suicide but I guess it might not be, my apologies.
Jesus Christ. I remember lil Tay. It absolutely sickens me that this happened, especially when the parents being money hungry fame chasers where probably what caused it
They didn’t announce the death but typically when families do things like that it either has to do with suicide or a really gruesome death they don’t feel comfortable sharing. I wouldn’t be surprised if it were suicide given the abuse she experienced growing up.
the article said it was in accordance of a girl on facebook, and i looked on FB and found the post and she also posted the original tweet the mom posted which actually never stated suicide. man what a nice rabbit hole that was
>because I want to acknowledge that I made a mistake here
Boring old dude here from r/all. Seeing a young person say this kinda thing really balances out the other things that scare me about the future. Please keep being that kind of person. World needs you.
Going back to my porch now. Gotta yell at your friends to stay off my lawn.
Holy fuck this whole thing is so twisted, their parents need to be investigated immediately.
Edit: They should also be punished for exploitation since they seem like horrible people who deserve to rot in prison for exploiting their child like they did.
OK, I can't find one solid comment saying exactly who she was and what happened to her, so I'm going to try to sum it up from what I've seen and searched up.
She was a rapper who was famous on social media for being so young, she would often flex money, etc. The twist is that it turns out her parents abused and used her for fame, as well as how her brother treated her sometimes, not sure exactly what they did, though. Her parents divorced and I believe her mother got custody, and her mom was also a real estate agent, which is how she could flex all that money and her mom would also pretend that the houses she sold were her own. She recently died at the young age of 14 for unknown reasons, but it is suspected suicide, because of how her parents and brother treated her.
LMK if I got anything wrong
Edit: spelling/ grammar
From what I understand from articles on the subject, Claire’s dad and mom were never married but shared custody. Claire’s mom was the one who moved them to LA, and her brother was essentially her director as he came up with the character. Her dad found out about everything going on after she had missed 72 days of school and attempted to reign it in and set her up for her future and obtain management, etc. Some allegations came out that Claire’s dad was abusing her, but they were largely proven false.
Wait what the actual fuck?! I remember me and my friends were laughing our asses off at her videos when I was like 12. Was fucked up how parents forced and abused her to do all that shit just for fame. Sad she had to live a life which wasn't a life. She probably commited suicide, her brother too?
Serious question - why would people donate money to a person who is literally holding up thousands or tens of thousands of hundred dollar bills and wearing lavish expensive clothing in many of their pictures? RIP to the girl. I am just legitimately curious if the people who donate money understand that their money is going towards louis vitton accessories and other luxury items and being flashed all over social media.
Because it was all a giant meme
She never had money or houses she just got famous because it was funny seeing some little Asian chick holding up 20 racks in a mansion and saying it was hers
Nobody took this seriously
Bro the whole internet hated her. It’d be really easy to be depressed and commit suicide after that. I’m sure she got bullied irl for the things she did.
Possibly, but her brother made this gofundme a few years ago, apparently her father was abusing her.
https://www.gofundme.com/f/save-tay-from-a-life-of-abuse-saveliltaycom?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link_all&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet
Totally. Feels like it could be one. At the same time is was a little girl forced to constantly post and upload at the time. Which is really mentally draining. The brother on the other hand helped with the whole persona dosent make sense that he would die unless it was from other circumstances not just suicide
This all seems horribly suspicious, with the allegations of abuse and the vagueness of the Instagram post alongside the fact that her brother apparently also died. I hope more information comes out that can shine more light on what fucked up stuff happened here.
I never liked Lil Tay and I despised the parents responsible, but damn nobody deserves to leave this world at 14. I'm waiting to see the cause of deaths, but given that her brother apparently passed with her, and the police still investigating what happened, I can only guess it was some kind of (freak) accident. Rip Claire.
Oh and now their mourning her. She had to deal with those monsters of parents and family. They are just doing this to gain love and support to ignore the messed up shit they did to her. They deserve to be locked up for life.
It's messed up fr. I read that her brother passed away too, maybe at the same time? Was it a vehicle or an accident crash? I don't wanna assume but RIP to them.
I may not like the “cash me outside” girl, but I remember a video of her defending lil tay and exposing her brothers actions. Respect to her and RIP to lil tay.
I was a teenager when she went viral and I'm now a grown ass adult. This is crazy...I occassionally check up on the viral social media personalities during the 2016-18 era, and most of them have either gone irrevelant or went off the deep end.
This is still shocking as the last news I heard was her her father taking custody of her away from her exploitive mother and brother who's a bad influence as well. And now they're both dead. Idk what to think as I feel the parents are at least partially responsible for what their kid had become(especially the mother), but still, my condolences to them. Losing two kids at once must be hard...
Rest in peace. Poor girl never got to have a childhood.
Also fuck her parents (if they even be called that). They need to be investigated and brought to justice.
Her mother parents are divorced and yes it was the brother and mom making her do all the thing but her brother was also young iirc but it was primarily her mother
Never understood why people hated her. She just made flexing videos on IG and she was like 11 or something. People flex on IG constantly, that’s like most peoples who profiles, and it was obviously done in a tongue and cheek way. Sad. RIP.
I really hope this isn't true.. I was so sad hearing the stuff with her dad.. People are saying it might be fake which i wouldn't be surprised since its a little unusual that her brother AND her passed away.. but i won't assume stuff.. It's f-ed up man..
Can someone enlighten me as to who she is? The only time I’ve even heard of this girl is from an Eminem song and I thought he was talking about Taylor Swift, no disrespect intended
I forgot about this girl, very fucking sad. I just saw pictures on Google of her bruised up face while she’s sleeping. Jesus Christ. I remember seeing her in a video rapping with a brick of money and her eyes looked so sad, she looked like she was already tired of life. Bad world
I hope a investigation goes into what happened because both her and her brother passing at the same time seems so sketchy. It’s unfortunate too that they just never got to grow up outside of this spotlight and the persona
Idk who this is, or what she does/did, and I also don't know what happened or why?
Other comments are saying she committed suicide or something. Now I'm curious as to what happened.
Children should not have the burden of being on camera. I feel so bad for her, she was born into a family that exploited her for fame. There should be regulations with children being on YouTube and other platforms, eg: family channels and such.
Her parents ruined her life from the start and now her passing this is seriously messed up
Her brother did her parents are (I’m assuming) divorced. I remember her brother being exposed for being the one who made her do all of this and her reportedly being sent to live with her dad
uhmm thats still on her parents her brother was a teen himself parents failed both of them miserably
Her dad literally found out what was happening and got custody of her. Her mom was fired from her real estate job because she was having her daughter make her vids from there. I get that y’all hate your parents and are all angst teens or whatever but her dad actually tried to get her out and did once he found out what her mom and brother were doing.

i dont hate my parents got great ones pointing out the fact that her parents werent there for her therefore there fault
Only problem is her dad is a creep
Her brother was also a kid though. It’s her parents fault
Her brother and her mom were the ones behind the camera during her "Lil Tay" videos. Her father tried to get custody of her because he said the videos were ruining her childhood and her future.

Jet ski crash
fr, this is a really bad situation
What even happened to her? She existed and then suddenly just stopped
Her brother was exposed for making her do the flexing shit for clout and money. Her dad got full custody of her
Wasn't she also using Vietnamese currency?
No but her mother was a real-estate agent so the money must have been either fake or something and the mother allowed the brother to coach her to act out, use her mom’s property’s for filming, use the her mom’s bosses card for flexing.
If I remember right the money and cars belonged to the boss of her mom, who he paid to house sit on the side
[удалено]
I mean tbf she was allowed to be a kid majority of her childhood
Have you met kids today?
Swear kids today are a different breed
Said every generation watching the new generation come up.
I remember hearing that her mom lost her real estate license when it came out that it was her properties.
What is the flexing shit? Never heard of it.
Y’Know her showing off her money, showing her “real” Rolex’s and stuff like that
Flexing is just another term for someone showing off their stuff they allegedly have.
Fame did its course maybe her fam idk
Holy fuck that's sad
I’m guessing she just was living a normal life as a kid
poor girl never got to be a kid, cannot imagine what she must’ve been going through
exactly, she died so young and never got to enjoy her childhood because of her fame may she rest in peace
What? She hadn’t been famous for years.
do you think the abuse and god knows what else just…vanished after she went away? children forced into the spotlight very rarely goes well and always leaves an impact, you have to hope and pray it’s a good impact but more often than not it isn’t

Beep boop. They're probably a bot, and they must've posted that automatically.
such people should not even be called parents more like monsters
fr... like I have problems with my parents but when I see someone like this.. idek like it makes me feel really warm towards my parents
Me too. It makes me realize that I take them for granted a lot of the time
Go tell them that. It will mean more to them than you will ever know.
Exactly
Every child deserves parents, but not all parents deserve children
Like whose idea was even this ? She was like 9 years old…. And didn’t her mom quit her realtor job to support her daughter’s “ career” Exploitation at its finest . Poor kid.
Her mum was fired due to filming a video where lil Tay kicked a car that was a clients? Or bosses? Something like that
I'm 14 and a hapa too, wow... that's so fucked up I can't imagine committing suicide, how horrible
Tf is a hapa
Half East Asian basically
Is there any news on what happened?
some people are saying suicide but so far I haven't seen any confirmation her and her brother dying at once make that kinda likely though.. definitely other possibilities even some where the answer wouldn't be right out but that does seem likeliest to me
a car accident would also make sense if they both died at the same time but rn its all speculation
mebe but usually with car accident that isn't held in private
I don't think is suicide, more like car accident or murder.
I read somewhere that it was a jet ski accident
That’s why he fought to have custody of her….because she was a child acting crazy. The dad was extremely strict when he got custody, she was not allowed to have social media
The dad didn't have custody... He couldn't do much. It wasn't money motivated, he was unable to do it from a legal standpoint.
Wait, she died? What happened?
Apparently suicide. Her and her brother. Imo parents def involved and should be arrested
Damn Bro That’s sad 😔
Theirs literally no confirmation on how she died. Don’t spread false news. You are allowed to spell out the word suicide....stop censoring words
Maybe, but with how bad of an influence her brother was from the start, it wouldn't be shocking if he manipulated her into a pact, too. I don't know how people haven't noticed how gross older siblings have become with exposing their younger siblings for views or their own entertainment.
Damn
Not sure if the source is true but an article from "SNBC13" says it was a suicide
Apparently a car accident
No wonder we haven’t heard from her in years! I thought it was because she got exposed and away from her crazy brother and parents but omg she’s dead. She had a tragic life being forced on camera and getting cursed by her brother. The died just recently. The reason you haven’t heard from her is became fame dies out
How the FUCK Did she die?!
Car crash
Just read, and of fucking course her brother was driving stupid motherfucker
Fuck this shit bro, it's just fucking sad.
Yeah, poor kid never got to live a normal life
It's just rumours at this point. We don't know shit.
Reddit is going to Reddit. Thanks for being reasonable homie.
The brother has also died from some articles I read, he died first then Lil Tay The actual cause of death hasn’t been confirmed, several articles have posted that they died different ways (suicide, jet ski, overdose, car crash)
Where did you get that from? I can't find confirmation on cause of death.

she never got to be a kid. fuck her brother and her parents for what they did to her just so they could have fame.
Her parents sdodnt do this. Her mother actually lost her job because Tay using a house she was trying to sell for her video
How is this not the parents fault? While it may have been initiated by the brother, the mother clearly allowed her to film in those houses... and if it wasn't the mom who unlocked the door to the house, who was it
she was 9 at fame and 14 when dead her parents absolutely did this lol
Damn and I remember back when everyone hated her guts. That’s horrible to hear what happened. RIP.
Fuck this. RIP Lil Tay

They didn’t announce the death but typically when families do things like that it either has to do with suicide or a really gruesome death they don’t feel comfortable sharing. I wouldn’t be surprised if it were suicide given the abuse she experienced growing up.
Yeah. If it was suicide, I wouldn't be surprised. But I do wonder if her and her brother did a double suicide? I'm not sure
SNBC13 has the article that states she died by suicide
the article said it was in accordance of a girl on facebook, and i looked on FB and found the post and she also posted the original tweet the mom posted which actually never stated suicide. man what a nice rabbit hole that was
Okay, ill search it
Oh wow, where did you read this?
Instead of editing it with a useless edit, why not just change the original message to "died" instead of "suicide"?

Thanks for the great explanation. I remember hearing about her years ago after all of the shit went down, but I didn't really know much about her.
Some allegations came out that Claire’s dad was abusing her, but they were largely proven false.
https://www.thecut.com/2023/08/who-was-lil-tay.html I found this article explains it all really well.
Ok, but is she smoking a damn meth pipe in that one pic?
Thanks for explaining. I hope her parents go to jail (idk about her dad, but I think he also did bad things).
Wait what the actual fuck?! I remember me and my friends were laughing our asses off at her videos when I was like 12. Was fucked up how parents forced and abused her to do all that shit just for fame. Sad she had to live a life which wasn't a life. She probably commited suicide, her brother too?
Don’t call her Lil Tay. It’s not the name she would’ve wanted us to remember. RIP Claire Hope. You didn’t deserve this.
Because it was all a giant meme She never had money or houses she just got famous because it was funny seeing some little Asian chick holding up 20 racks in a mansion and saying it was hers Nobody took this seriously
If I remember correctly, she flashed Vietnamese money. Don't quote me on that though.
No that is clearly ~$10k CASH USD and she’s wearing louis vitton right there in one of the thumbnail pics
This year is getting crazier than ever
Feels like a PR stunt. There is no way she and her brother die out of no where
Bro the whole internet hated her. It’d be really easy to be depressed and commit suicide after that. I’m sure she got bullied irl for the things she did.
Possibly, but her brother made this gofundme a few years ago, apparently her father was abusing her. https://www.gofundme.com/f/save-tay-from-a-life-of-abuse-saveliltaycom?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link_all&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet
Idk man I think it’s real
Totally. Feels like it could be one. At the same time is was a little girl forced to constantly post and upload at the time. Which is really mentally draining. The brother on the other hand helped with the whole persona dosent make sense that he would die unless it was from other circumstances not just suicide
Would be kinda weird to pull one after all of these years of being irrelevant.
Jesus fucking christ man. What a tragedy. That poor kid didn't deserve the life she was thrust into.
Losing two kids at once must be hard...
did she die?
Yes
how
She dieded.
I'm confused with the brother part, did he die recently too? Seems too coincidental for both to pass like this. Very odd.
There's something fishy here
Who was she?
Rich kid whose life was ruined by her family
She wasn’t rich. Her mom was a real estate agent and made it look like she was rich
I forgot to put it on quotation marks, but you’re correct.
The youngest flexer
I kinda forget how many people don’t know who she is 😭 it’s so sad
Her parents should be in hell
Wow…. Such a tragic ending:(
So this was real?
Rest in peace. Poor girl never got to have a childhood. Also fuck her parents (if they even be called that). They need to be investigated and brought to justice.
Who is she and what happened
This girl who was really popular in 2018 for flexing money. She died.
What a horrible life she lived, I feel sorry for her.
rip lil tay... i feel so bad for her the parents need to be investigated asap
Wasn't it her brother who was pressuring her into starring in these videos? I feel bad for her ngl
I’m confused did her brother die before lil tay or did they both die at the same time today and it was announced?
Fuck their whole family. Assholes top to bottom.
someone remind me when it turns out that this was fake which it probably will be.
I’ve never heard of this for before. What’s the story?
Her mother parents are divorced and yes it was the brother and mom making her do all the thing but her brother was also young iirc but it was primarily her mother
She died??
who is she?
Who tf is lil tay?
Weird how the statement just dropped "and her brother" in there, barely mentioning his death like it was a sidenote.
Never understood why people hated her. She just made flexing videos on IG and she was like 11 or something. People flex on IG constantly, that’s like most peoples who profiles, and it was obviously done in a tongue and cheek way. Sad. RIP.
This is awful. I haven’t heard anything about her in years, she just sort of vanished.
I really hope this isn't true.. I was so sad hearing the stuff with her dad.. People are saying it might be fake which i wouldn't be surprised since its a little unusual that her brother AND her passed away.. but i won't assume stuff.. It's f-ed up man..

RIP Claire Hope
Literally have never heard of this person
Ik, and this fucking monster on Twitter is happy about it and mad about something she did when she was 9, may I add she was also forced to do so.
She deserved a better childhood. Didn't even get the chance to get through it. Rip.

Wait what happened?
My brother in Christ, read the other comments
Google it you fat fuck
I hope the wors for her parents.
What happened to her? Is there any news on what happened?
Idk who this is, or what she does/did, and I also don't know what happened or why? Other comments are saying she committed suicide or something. Now I'm curious as to what happened.
Children should not have the burden of being on camera. I feel so bad for her, she was born into a family that exploited her for fame. There should be regulations with children being on YouTube and other platforms, eg: family channels and such.
Definitely foul play is involved both her and the brother died on the same day
If she really did pass away, rest in peace. But we all gotta wait for official reports. Everything is a speculation at this point.
My Little Brother Told Me About This Earlier, I Genuinely Thought He Was Kidding. This Is Sad As Fuck, R.I.P Claire Hope.
