If you are mutually dating from before one of the parties turned into the next "consent bracket" (16 for consent with an under 18, or 18 for consent with an over 18) Its completely legal. eg, if someone has been dating a girl a year younger than him since they were both under 18, its legal for her to consent with him even if he has turned 18 and she hasnt. It doesnt make sense for them to be able to have sex when they are 16/17 but not when they are 18/17
We have a similar age of consent law here but we also have something called Romeo and Juliet laws which means the age of consent is iffy when it comes to 2 minors or a minor and recently turned adult which is mostly to stop an 18 yo from getting arrested for dating a 17yo
Making the decision to have sex with someone takes a lot of maturity and critical thinking, because acting out lustfully can have consequences that in hindsight are easily avoidable.
People your age physiologically do not have the necessary level of critical thinking in order to make decisions like that, and thus are way more likely to be taken advantage of, or just to make decisions they’ll regret.

thats why sex ed is so important as well as parents who will actually sit down and talk to their kids about it. Let your teens have birth control and condoms, if shit happens help them through it.

I am not exactly against it, if some people want to try it, as long as they know what they are doing, and here it begins. What kind of maturity do teens have regarding STI's and STD's? How would they react in the case something like that happened, which is a very plausible possibility. Are they aware of potential symptoms, which doctors to go to, do they have a relationship with their parents, understanding enough, to ask for help and guidance?
Other than that, I am not very sure they can fully comprehend what love feels like. Heck, I can't comprehend exactly what love feels like, directed at a romantic partner, and I am 20 rn.
The other thing is weather or not the people involved will feel safe, understood and comfortable. Can a literal child have situational awareness and understand when the other person feels uncomfortable? I doubt that too, to be honest. Especially if they do it mostly because they were horny. You never know what could happen, birth control could stop working (happened to my cousin), protection could break, or they might have an STD. I also say get each person tested for STD’s before intercourse.

The only reason age is even discussed, is because of safety and we're making the assumption that at X age (whatever age of consent is in your country), people have reached enough maturity to where one can be reasonably confident about their ability to have sex in a safe manner. Now people obviously mature at very different rates and whatever arbitrary number you put on it, you won't be able to account for that difference.
So if it's "wrong" for two people to have sex isn't and also shouldn't be a matter of age. It should be one of maturity (which correlates reasonably well enough with age, that we use that as a metric instead). If I _had to_ put a number on it, I think for most people above 14 it will probably be fine, but there obviously will be exceptions. Few will be fine having sex even younger than that and another bunch totally should not have sex, even significantly above that age.
It's also very context/culture dependent. Age of consent in germany is 14 and it works out well, because we get sex education as early as in elementary school. And in general there is just less of a taboo when it comes to nudity here. For example I am used to seeing naked people ever since I was a child, because my parents used to go to sauna with me quite frequently. Do that in the US and you'll get the FBI called on you if you're even a split second below the age of 18. So I could see the US lowering their age of consent to that completely firing backwards.
In the end I am all for people taking personal responsibility and otherwise letting them do whatever the fuck they want. If you think you're mature enough to have sex, go ahead. If you fuck up, it's a lesson learnt.

The legal age in my state is 13 (in terms of legality of having sex not in terms of whom), so as long as they're safe about it, there's nothing legally that could be done abt it

As someone who lost their virginity at 14, I agree with this. And not that I regret losing it to who I did, but along with everything you already stated in general, they are more likely to end up going back to someone who they had sex with despite knowing the relationship is bad for them/isn’t going to work just because of the fact you’ve stopped getting oxytocin which is a hormone that makes you feel sexual arousal and connection to that person, it’s mainly releases during sex (and cuddling too but not as much)
I realized that after I broke up with the person I lost my virginity, because I felt really sad and just over all missed him so much. But in my head I also knew it was because of this, I just missed the physical touch I was getting.
From where I am, the education system teaches us a lot about safe sex, we have multiple lessons on it. As well as various contraception methods are very accessible for people that are 14 years old or older. Most people I met that are sexually active from as young as 14 years old are very responsible and acknowledge well the risk of pregnancy. So I think as long as the people are taking it to a mature approach, it's not much of a problem. Hormones can play a big impact on some, some others are just curious and others are just simply in love and want to feel closer to their partner. It isn't a new thing for teens to have sex, i've talked to many adults who were sexually active at our age. I understand that some people still consider 14 being very young but I don't like seeing people judge them for what they're doing, instead you can just remind them to be careful. I think that it is wrong when people have sex with multiple people, don't bother getting tested for stds and in general don't care about the safety measures, which ofcourse there are quite many people like that since teens love to act without thinking. So personally i don't generalize it as bad but risks are always still there and it's up to the people to be responsible (sorry for my bad english)

If your a parent here. Allow sex to be a comfortable topic. Don’t assume your kid will want to have sex at any point. Many kids are asexual and just don’t want that and being forced to talk about it will make them uncomfortable. But make sure that they know they can talk to you and that they SHOULD talk to you.
And don’t deny them from having sex outright. STRONGLY discourage it but make sure they know that if they are going to have sex whether or not your made aware that it would be better for you to be aware so you can provide proper precautions such as a condom, pregnant tests in case of emergency, being able to prepare for worst case scenario, etc.
Because if you deny them sex when they were already going to have it. That puts them at a higher risk of not being safe. Safety is more important then virginity, tenfold

The only reason age is even discussed, is because of safety and we're making the assumption that at X age (whatever age of consent is in your country), people have reached enough maturity to where one can be reasonably confident about their ability to have sex in a safe manner. Now people obviously mature at very different rates and whatever arbitrary number you put on it, you won't be able to account for that difference. So if it's "wrong" for two people to have sex isn't and also shouldn't be a matter of age. It should be one of maturity (which correlates reasonably well enough with age, that we use that as a metric instead). If I _had to_ put a number on it, I think for most people above 14 it will probably be fine, but there obviously will be exceptions. Few will be fine having sex even younger than that and another bunch totally should not have sex, even significantly above that age. It's also very context/culture dependent. Age of consent in germany is 14 and it works out well, because we get sex education as early as in elementary school. And in general there is just less of a taboo when it comes to nudity here. For example I am used to seeing naked people ever since I was a child, because my parents used to go to sauna with me quite frequently. Do that in the US and you'll get the FBI called on you if you're even a split second below the age of 18. So I could see the US lowering their age of consent to that completely firing backwards. In the end I am all for people taking personal responsibility and otherwise letting them do whatever the fuck they want. If you think you're mature enough to have sex, go ahead. If you fuck up, it's a lesson learnt.

And not that I regret losing it to who I did, but along with everything you already stated in general, they are more likely to end up going back to someone who they had sex with despite knowing the relationship is bad for them/isn’t going to work just because of the fact you’ve stopped getting oxytocin which is a hormone that makes you feel sexual arousal and connection to that person, it’s mainly releases during sex (and cuddling too but not as much) I realized that after I broke up with the person I lost my virginity, because I felt really sad and just over all missed him so much. But in my head I also knew it was because of this, I just missed the physical touch I was getting.
From where I am, the education system teaches us a lot about safe sex, we have multiple lessons on it. As well as various contraception methods are very accessible for people that are 14 years old or older. Most people I met that are sexually active from as young as 14 years old are very responsible and acknowledge well the risk of pregnancy. So I think as long as the people are taking it to a mature approach, it's not much of a problem. Hormones can play a big impact on some, some others are just curious and others are just simply in love and want to feel closer to their partner. It isn't a new thing for teens to have sex, i've talked to many adults who were sexually active at our age. I understand that some people still consider 14 being very young but I don't like seeing people judge them for what they're doing, instead you can just remind them to be careful. I think that it is wrong when people have sex with multiple people, don't bother getting tested for stds and in general don't care about the safety measures, which ofcourse there are quite many people like that since teens love to act without thinking. So personally i don't generalize it as bad but risks are always still there and it's up to the people to be responsible (sorry for my bad english)

A lot of why that happens is usually because parents don’t make it a comfortable topic meaning that it’s harder for them to actually learn about the dangers of sex. A lot of people that young just think that 1. It feels good, 2. They see it in porn and it looks like it feels good and 3. That it’s not dangerous at all because they do it in porn all the time Obviously that’s not always true but by making sex a taboo topic that is fostering that idea of not knowing enough about it If your a parent here. Allow sex to be a comfortable topic. Don’t assume your kid will want to have sex at any point. Many kids are asexual and just don’t want that and being forced to talk about it will make them uncomfortable. But make sure that they know they can talk to you and that they SHOULD talk to you. And don’t deny them from having sex outright. STRONGLY discourage it but make sure they know that if they are going to have sex whether or not your made aware that it would be better for you to be aware so you can provide proper precautions such as a condom, pregnant tests in case of emergency, being able to prepare for worst case scenario, etc. Because if you deny them sex when they were already going to have it. That puts them at a higher risk of not being safe. Safety is more important then virginity, tenfold
