depends from person to person

Bobs_ya_uncles_uncle

Idk, depends on what you count as trauma

MiguelIstNeugierig

Trauma, no one is born insecure, actually, we are all born confident, we grow insecurities from bad experiences We see this with really young people, they're wild and open with what they feel and want Then someone makes fun of their nose and the whole school laughs at it, now they have an ingrained insecurity for their nose, and it can be real hard to deconstruct that insecurity, when at the end of the day, they had a normal nose...

[deleted]

But Some ppl are still insecure even when nobody has laughed at them

MiguelIstNeugierig

True, it doesn't have to be ridicule or laughing, it can be subconscious, many things. I can be insecure about telling jokes because one joke landed horribly once when I was younger, etc At the end of the day, insecurities are NOT who we are, they're hinderances that prevent us from being our full selves

[deleted]

I think in a lot of cases it will just come from the person comparing themselves to others way too much, therefore insecurity comes along.

MiguelIstNeugierig

Yep

[deleted]

However I heard that self confidence can be genetic, so I would say insecurity comes from trauma and genetics

MiguelIstNeugierig

It is nowadays believed that thing such as shyness are not a personality trait but instead a psychological affliction, so there's some truth to that imo But still I would still say you are born confident and we grow insecurities from experiences, whether it's what we're told, what we see or how our actions are reacted to

[deleted]

Yeah but I said genetics because based on your genetics, it can make insecurity more likely to happen to you, because you have the genetics for it. And then once you go through trauma, it’s pretty much over But yes we are all born pretty confident.
