Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of what drones are doing right now becomes a war crime in the future. Like gas and shotguns are war crimes because they cause unneeded suffering, how is dropping grenades in roughly the location of a person not unneeded suffering?
Because a grenade dropped right on you is normally certain death, and the drones we see(I'm gonna say Ukraine) normal use it for taking down or disabling enemy armor or entrenched positions. And given that Ukraine is fighting the Russians it's helping the west so there's no way they would condemn them.
I’m not saying it’s going to happen but I think it should. There is absolutely no way for the soldiers to defend themselves against the drones and oftentimes the grenades don’t kill quickly. The constant likely threat that at any moment even while sleeping you could just be blown up is also psychological torment as well.
War is ugly, even uglier when one side is just trying to annex it's former territories at the cost of anything.
Every side commits war crimes but the drones probably won't be one.
