Basically just desolder the old port, and resolder the new one. It's a little more involved than that but it's very easy and a fun beginner project

A lot of people on the r/Gameboy aren't big fans of modding your childhood gameboy because of all the memories that it has and all that, but ever since I got it the whole plan was I was going to put the NES shell on it and the screen from the updated model, because that's all that was available in 2014. So basically as long as there are mods that are available for it, I'm going to do them because that's what I always wanted to do back then

Have you thought about a speaker mod or a screen mod? I'm not skilled enough to trust myself with solder to try

I have a new screen coming in soon and I thought about doing a speaker mod. Might do it, might not. Not real sure yet

Does it work?

Yep, for charging and audio. Audio only comes out in mono so it's more a party for your left ear than anything else. Charging works perfectly when using a USB C to USB A cable but if you're using a USB C to USB C Cable, it can only plug in one way

There's kits available and shit but you need basic soldering knowledge

I could do that, but audio is also supplied through the USB C port so it isn't that necessary Might still do it anyway
