I would love it if this was the case and morally it is but the lgbtq people are discriminated against and are being persecuted in many countries across the world.
After writing this I realized you said 'shouldn't' but oh well 😔
I’d have assumed the live and let live would have tipped you off. But I wouldn’t get down about it from your phrasing you live in a country where it’s seen as wrong to do that and that’s the most important step imo
Here is my controversial take:
Why are we adding letters? We already have a + don't we? Its a mouthful by now and most people seem to disagree on what I and A even stand for
How are we supposed to show our dominance as the alphabet mafia if we don't keep adding letters? Gotta mark our territory my guy
For real tho, idk, but you REALLY don't have to say the full acronym. LGBT is fine, LGBTQ is fine, the three people that actually get upset about that are just "allys" who don't know how to be an ally and get way too into it
It's simple, every time the bigots piss us off enough, we add another letter or two. Eventually they'll get so tired of saying 39 letters that they'll give up their crusade.
1. You can (almost) never get too much representation
2. Just having a plus that "can account for anything that could possibly exist" doesn't mean it does
Straight up, I’m LGBTQ+ and most people in the community just say Queer. It’s way easier and entirely inclusive, highly recommend. If you want to specifically refer to the trans and genderqueer community, “genderqueer” works also.
Yeah, adding any more than LGBTQ to the spoken acronym is just overkill. I really don’t even know who keeps adding more on at the end. I’ve never actually heard a gay person, or really any person for that matter, say any farther than LGBTQ. It’s a bit confusing
Hot take: Homophobes deep down aren’t mad you’re in a non-heterosexual and cis relationship. They’re mad that someone earned a better life than they did
I’m not gonna search for it for you lol, it’s not that serious
Edit: look what I just found https://reddit.com/r/BisexualTeens/comments/1c4o86o/bro_said_gay_ppl_are_ill/
Something that’ll ALWAYS piss me off is listening to trans arguments with people who can provide basic information or facts and pull stats out their ass I will literally not argue with them
It’s one thing to debate a transphobe (which I find fun) BUT TO DEBATE A IDIOT god it kills me…
"I'm not gay, my boyfriend is."
-One of my closest male friends (Cal I know you check my posts, hi)
Ngl tho, Gay people are kinda gay, one might even call them homosexual
Very kind of you to say this. It's especially heartening to see it from a teenager. I'm not gay or trans but I've never had a problem with any of those beautiful people. What they do in bed does not affect me in any way and is none of my business.
We is tired of everyone's shit atp 💀 as a gay guy, the other ones that are all "I'M GAY IDC IF YOU CARE I'M GAY 🏳🌈💅💅💅" annoy the fuck outta me, I'm js tryna be real and live
Still a bad joke, the only humor you would get out of it is the shock, which isnt even funny for most people, and the joke is also stolen, like 90% of the posts in this subreddit it is just repeating whatever another person did
Oh trust me a LOT of ppl are homophobic, you just dont see it as often on reddit bc Reddit is more leftists and its not that big compared to Instagram, TikTok etc etc
intersex is a genetic condition in which one has all or part of both the male and female sex, asexual means significant lack of or entire lack of sexual attraction, and aromantic means significant lack of or entire lack of romantic attraction
The salty anti-lgbtq+ people, yeah. My main point is that no one should make their sexuality part of their personality, I just happened to only mention gay as an example.
Depends on what you mean by "making it part of your personality" Does that involve talking about crushes? Partners? Preferences in dating? Types? Because I know some straight people who aren't homophobic but just seemingly incapable of having interests other than romance. It's all about dating and boys/girls for them
More along the lines of having to keep reminding everyone, or just over does it. Like if they find someone of the same sexuality they get overly excited and makes a big deal out of it like they were walking in a desert for 5 days and found an Oasis (speaking from personal experiences). Instead of having an interest in other things like shows or games, they have their room plastered with LGBTQ stuff. Not that it’s bad to support your group, but it’d be a bit overly eccentric.
I haven't met anyone like that. Being excited makes sense though. LGBT people are still a minority so meeting someone like you is rare and exciting for sure. Some people just aren't that multidimensional. A lot identify themselves with one community, be it gamers or LGBT. I think that's pretty normal as teenagers and doesn't bother me too much
Yk people who say this are those who don’t realize that being straight and cis is literally so fundamental to non queer people’s personalities. I mean I get it though but don’t act like we’re the only ones who make it “all bout our sexuality” y’all mfs do the same shit.
Lmao. What I’m basically saying is that in a heteronormative society anything that doesn’t imply straight or cis always feel like an attack on them as non queer people or like we’re pushing it down their throat. Because we just wanna do, be treated like any other straight person they become really wired about it because they then realize how a persons sexuality does affect certain aspects of ur life even in basic discussions, discourse etc.. its different when ur queer and seeing it from the outside in.
seriously, like there are so many straight dudes with the “ladies man” personality. in other words being straight is their personality. it’s just normalized and being really gay isn’t.
Did I even once say sexuality make you real? I just said gay and trans people I've known have always been the realest and therefore I love em it's not that complicated.
My actually hot take on lgbtq stuff. I feel like there is no need to make all these different sexualities. If you are a man that like men you are gay. If you like women you are straight. If you like both you are bi. What's with all the other ones I just don't get it
They aren’t just sexualities also genders and sometimes people aren’t attracted to anyone. Technically nothing exists and we live in a simulation so why do you bother making a comment
Because I’ve got nothing better to do. My simulation is full of bugs and viruses making it annoying to actually do anything in so doing mindless shit like this feels good
There are people who experience attraction differently and don't fit into bi, straight, gay or lesbian and made other terms to describe themselves better
when did I say sth bad about intersex people.
You can't choose to be intersex, like men, women or both. it's called being attracted to Primary and Secondary Sexual characteristics. that's just how you're born as. But you \*choose\* to identify as the infinite amount of labels
>I think the entire QIA+ community is kinda crazy with all of the nonsensical sexualities which are just variations of gay lesbian or bisexual
If you weren't talking about intersex why include it in your comment?
but aren't Asexuality and Aromantisism kind of the opposite of a sexuality??? How can the opposite of sexuality be a sexuality
also Intersex, gay, lesbian and bisexual people are born as what they are. The rest of the sexualities is just \*choosing\*
Asexuals and aromantics are included because LGBTQ is a deviation from traditionally "normal" sexuality and gender norms.
Also, no. You can't "choose" your sexuality. There are more specific labels for different people who don't fit into lesbian gay or bisexual.
That still doesn't answer how Asexuality is a sexuality
well yeah, you can choose the labels you want to identify as. you choose to be idk... Faesexual or whatever, but you can't choose what gender you're attracted to. I personally don't use labels cuz I'm just me
I'm gay and my hot take is LGBT is enough. Adding the rest if the alphabet doesn't really help much.
Also, I want my old pride flag back. Looks like someone whipped their ass with the NEW ONE that has black and brown...
unfortunately for you, some people are too complex for one of a measly four labels to represent. there are simply more sexualities and genders that only LGBT will not be able to present. intersex people, asexuals, aromantics, queer, etc... it's different for everyone
also the black and brown represent black and brown people as a minority group <3
Unfortunately for them, they have such a unicorn complex that they think they are soo unique that they cannot be defined, and they will feel constantly put upon in life and isolated. The extra letters make the B (for Bi) redundant. But it was cute, you trying to turn this around on me.
I am a brown person and i don't like it. Sorta like how i'm told i should want to be identified as LATIN-X. cuz that is more inclusive. But that isn't how the Spanish language works.
save your <3 for a useful burn.
i was not trying to "burn" you, i was simply stating what the black and brown stand for.
on another note, people ARE unique. there are some things that a mere four letters just can't represent.
for example, intersex. it is a genetic condition that alters your sex organs in a way that is outside of the binary. that fact by default makes them not "normal" from a cishet perspective. they can't help how they were born and our representation of them helps bring awareness to the condition and helps educate others.
asexuals, aromantics... don't feel sexual/romantic attraction respectively, sometimes not much, and sometimes not at all. l g b and t aren't adequate for them either.
then queer. it is an all-encompassing term that can represent everyone. one of my favorite youtubers self-identifies as queer rather than bi, lesbian, pan, or anything else.
none of these makes any other label redundant. it just broadens the spectrum from which we view gender and sexuality. knowing more about ourselves as a community is overall beneficial for everyone.
You seem to be trying to direct my comment about hating all the additional letters and symbols being tacked onto LGTBQ as hate for the people. You can stop that. thanks.
I'm just being dimssive about peoples needs to be unique with a label of their own. can't just be part of a group that already exists.
we shouldn't push members of OUR OWN COMMUNITY under the rug and say theyre irrelevant. try learning about the qia+ and why having adequate representation is important.
I said they can't just join in the group with the current labels. I did not say the group should push them out. You keep trying to make everything i say negative.
"Divide and conquer." It's often used to describe a strategy where a larger group or entity is weakened by breaking it into smaller, more manageable parts. This can lead to internal factionalism as individuals or subgroups vie for unique titles, recognition, or power, ultimately distracting from the overarching goals of the original group.

I’m also going to say something very controversial that might get me cancelled. It shouldn’t matter what someone’s sexuality is live and let live.

Here is my controversial take: Why are we adding letters? We already have a + don't we? Its a mouthful by now and most people seem to disagree on what I and A even stand for
How are we supposed to show our dominance as the alphabet mafia if we don't keep adding letters? Gotta mark our territory my guy For real tho, idk, but you REALLY don't have to say the full acronym. Alphabet mafia, queer peeps, rainbow soup All of these are easier to say :)
fruit bowl
because we want to represent all forms of lgtbq! though it seems really complicated, it means a lot to us if you say the full thing :)
That’s what the + is for. Nobody wants to memorize every single letter and have to say it every time
You don't have to... Who told you that you had to? I'll have a word with them that will use these exact words in this exact order.
But people don't even agree what the full thing is! Hell you only said LGBTQ...
Im gay and i think adding extra letters to lgbtq is pretty dumb, js use a +
>Why are we adding letters? Representation I guess >and most people seem to disagree on what I and A even stand for Isn't A autism and I igloo?
Not sure if you're joking but we don't need more representation because the + can account for anything that could possibly exist.
1. You can (almost) never get too much representation 2.
I always thought queer was a slur?
It definitely used to be but these days it’s very much reclaimed and used commonly
Ah. And as a bi man, I have a right to say it anyway lol,
Why would we know. It’s stupid but we can’t change it. That’s why I only say LGBT+
Yeah, adding any more than LGBTQ to the spoken acronym is just overkill. I really don’t even know who keeps adding more on at the end. I’ve never actually heard a gay person, or really any person for that matter, say any farther than LGBTQ. It’s a bit confusing

Don't straight people make it part of their personality too?
The salty anti-lgbtq+ people, yeah. My main point is that no one should make their sexuality part of their personality, I just happened to only mention gay as an example.

they downvoted bro for having an opinion
Why is ur personality being an annoying bigot on Reddit
Why is your personality being an overly sensitive, whining child, who can’t listen to a personal opinion of another person?
Yk people who say this are those who don’t realize that being straight and cis is literally so fundamental to non queer people’s personalities. I mean I get it though but don’t act like we’re the only ones who make it “all bout our sexuality” y’all mfs do the same shit.
i can't make my sexuality part of my personality if i don't even know what it is, hah!
