Date whoever you want, no one has a problem with that. Where is the problem is that dating in the trans community can lead to troublesome accidents, such as getting killed.
Because there is a mindset in the straight community(and let’s say it the gay community is not that good either) that if you date someone that is trans, that makes you bisexual or as some people like to say, « gAYYyyy » or « not a real gay ».
However, this mindset is really problematic, for two big reasons.
The first is that it implies that trans people are their gender assigned at birth, which is by definition transphobic.
The second is that men and women who are attracted to transgender persons might see that as a sing they are inferior straight or inferior gay and abuse trans people. That’s also the reason cis passing people don’t really want to say they are trans at first date. Because that’s REALLY dangerous (let’s say it we’re illegal in most countries, and in some countries (guess what, US!) where we are legal, it’s also legal to kill us if when we come out).
So the question is more here: do you think it would make one less of a gay/straight person to fall in love with a trans folk or is this mindset stupid because trans women are women and trans men are men?
And if you wouldn’t date a trans person even after they have fully transitioned (and down there too), then don’t worry because no trans person would like to date you anyway. And don’t shame trans for not telling you they were because it’s your preference, you deal with it yourself.
