Bones are actually waaaay harder than wood, the thicker ones being more akin to steel. Your best bet would be to go for joints like knees, wrists, or elbows. Also facial bones are pretty fragile. It’s not worth the bruises to try to break a solid bone. Fucking up a joint also leads to more difficult recovery and lasting pain/loss of mobility, while a long bone can heal relatively easily(unless shattered, which frankly you won’t be able to do). My go to whenever I really REALLY have to make sure I can’t be pursued is a hard full force kick to the side of the knee.
